Cleverly written, seemingly far-fetched, but yet totally believable!
It was interesting & surprising.
One of the best books I have read this year!
Interesting plot.
A flawed hero, a secret society, a missing student, this book has lots grab the readers’ attention. We are never sure of which character to trust or even if we can trust our erstwhile hero to come through. I would give it 3 1/2 stars, if that were possible.
The author of this book writes well and weaves a good story. I especially liked the DC area school that was the focus of the book. The writer kept my attention; in fact, I read it in two sittings.
Read right through
I didn’t want to put it down. Good clean thriller.
One of the best books I’ve read this year. I haven’t checked yet, but main character Ryan was developed so well I know I’d enjoy reading more story lines with him.
(I read 100+ books annually)
I enjoyed reading it as the characters were realistic and easy to identify with. I travel to the DC area regularly and could imagine something like this actually happening. I couldn’t wait to read more and was sad when l was done reading it. It kept me guessing till the very end! I loved the book!
This is quite the adventure ride from beginning till end. Ryan Walker, ex FBI, ex husband and father, a drinker, is working for a big cartel run by Arcari.
He tracks down the people that try and rip off the products of the cartel….and with one phone call, seals their fate. He then drinks to forget what he has done now and his fall from grace as a FBI agent.
Arcari has called Walker in to find his missing daughter, Amanda, astudent at an exclusive high school in DC. Famous people, congressmen and tes, even the leaders of cartels send their children to the school. The school has expensive surveillance equipment, trained guards and staff and the place is a fortress.
So how the heck did the daughter disappear without anyone knowing? And the missing girl is not reported to the authorities and the campus is very quiet and contained. Arcari has given Ellis, the president of the place, lots of money as did his father so he demands they let Walker in to investigate.
This book moves fast with descriptions of Ellis, Castillo, Josh, Meredith and Heather sketched quickly and easily to remember. The campus is down right creepy with tons of cameras everywhere and every student accounted for daily…yet Amanda just disappears.
Rumors of a secret society, secret tunnels, misleading information all lead to a puzzle. And the biggest puzzle is who do you believe…especially when your old FBI partner asks for help to get inside the area.
Walker may drink, but he is still a man with morals, a sharp mind, and questions everything he sees and hears. Clues are present and tension mounts as he races to rescue Amanda. 4.6 stars and this would make a great movie.
kept you guessing.
it kept me guessing
Great Book!!! Must Read !!!!!
Fast moving, lots of twists and turns
Loved the historical background that made it more real.
This book was hard to put down and while I recommend it, it had some bad language that was totally unnecessary. I thought it was well written and very suspenseful.
A few twists that made this a great read.
Well-done
Kept me on the edge of my seat.
