AUDIOBOOK REVIEW
Wow! What a ride!
I enjoyed this series. All 4 men are sexy in their own unique way. I absolutely loved Nana. She was my favorite part.
I had some issues with some of the men being TOO alpha. Their tempers were a bit short and had me sighing or wanting to roll my eyes at their reactions. I mean that’s not necessarily a bad thing but too much for me.
Peck was my favorite.
The Gibson boys collection is so easy to read, because the characters are amazing. The stories are romantic, but funny and the grandma Nana is something else. It´s impossible not fall in love with them. The book is so well-written that I could imagine Crave bar and the meal on Sundays afternoon when all of them are gathered and bickering each other. The way how they struggle to win the fear of love and how easy they love uncondittionally. The book is a must read. By the end of the book, it was impossible for me to choose a favorite character. Loved all of them.I would love extra chapters, although I have already started reading Mason Family series. Adriana Locke never dissapointed me.
An entire series all with one credit! This book has everything you could ask for and then some. There are a few sensitive subjects involved that make the book even more realistic and suck you right in with them. I loved everything about this book from the writing to the narration. If you are looking for a small town romance with some steam involved, then look no further. This one is perfect for you!
This is a wonderful series and easily worth the credit! I grew to love these Gibson boys! This encompasses all kinds of tropes. But what I love the best is the camaraderie and fun between these characters. I did listen to this on audio. Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross are the narrators for all of these delightful stories. They did a wonderful job.
Below is the breakdown for each book.
Crank
Very enjoyable! I loved how they all called her Slugger :). Totally warranted but still cute! I love all these brothers! Their camaraderie and brotherly stuff is simply great to listen to. Walker had a few shocking revelations and I really don’t know what he would do without Peck. I LOVED Walker’s gesture at the end! Sienna comes from the Landry brothers series (which I haven’t read/listened to yet). I loved all her interactions with them. They sound like great big brothers! She is a delight and I loved her. Nana and Peck were my favorite secondary characters.
Craft
Holy Smokes I didn’t see this coming!
That first kiss in the pantry so HOT! I loved these two! This issues the whole school teacher/librarian fantasy. The problems that Lance and Mariah has were each huge. Tough to overcome one more than the other. The whole idea of the dating app was cute as well. I really thought that nerdy nurse was a different person. So well played! This is an enjoyable read and I am loving these Gibson Boys and their ladies. Next please!
Cross
This is my least favorite of all of the stories. Cross is a friend but really holds no interest before this and he basically disappears after. But it’s cute.
Crave
There is so much that goes on in here. History is what Hadley and Machlan are filled with And they need to cope. This could almost by my fav of the series. These two are steeped in the past and can’t seem to release to enjoy the future. It’s a struggle and to listen to their pain. On the plus side Sunday Dinners with Nana are the BEST! I just want to go and be there to hang. Then the brothers when they “help” each other with relationship advice. This is a good one!
Crazy
I love Peck and am so happy he get his own story. He has always been so helpful to his cousins and finding their women. That when it’s his turn to struggle. They offer him some sweet advice. Dillon is the perfect girl for Peck. They each have that happy, adventurous spirit that radiates from them. The BIG gesture at the end is soooo Peck and Dillon! I love this series and am sorry to see it end.
The Gibson Boys Collection was another great read by Adriana Locke. This book consists of; Crank, Craft, Cross, Crave, and Crazy. These books follow one of the Gibson Boys finding love. I absolutely loved all five of these books and can’t wait to read more by Adriana Locke.
This is an amazing boxed set. Each story is about one couple, but this Series has characters intertwined, which is great! I love the Gibson Boys, and the family spirit in this Series is fantastic. Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott did a wonderful job with the narration, as always! They are the perfect narrators for this Series. I HIGHLY recommend it.
Amazing Series! Fabulous Stories, Characters & Narration
The Gibson Boys Collection
Series: The Gibson Boys, Book 1-4
By: Adriana Locke
Narrated by: Kai Kennicott, Wen Ross
This amazing boxset is 39 hours of listening pleasure! It includes five fabulous “Gibson Boys” books, four full length novels and one novella, I loved and enjoyed each one. Adriana Locke is a gifted author her stories flow naturally and contain a whole lot of heart. The storylines and the characters are realistic and easy to relate to. Each book features a different Gibson boy, either blood or honorary. I love how the author changed up the trope for each book, making it unique to that character. It was also great to see the same characters through out, the small town setting was awesome as was the family’s camaraderie. Nana was a force to be reckoned with, loved how the boys respected her and let her rule like the queen she was. The series opens with “Crank” Walker Gibson and Sienna Landry (yes, she a Landry from the Landry Family series), I loved how these two first meet and how their relationship starts to take off. Walker a mechanic running his own business, Crank, that has been in his family. Walker can be pretty cranky too, lol. There was great chemistry between them, I thought Sienna was perfect for him and they were perfect together. The second book “Craft” is Lance Gibson and Mariah Malarkey’s story, they work together in the same school, he is a teacher and she the librarian. There is lot of back and forth banter between these two, they are not exactly friends nor are they enemies, but there is something between them. Oh and when they finally give in it is magic. I loved these two characters, their demeanor, their heart and what they did for the kids. Also loved how their story plays out. “Cross” is the next book, a novella and it is Cross Jacobs and Kallie Welch’s story. Cross is the honorary Gibson, he grew up with them and was a bit one the wild side when he was younger which cost him the love of his life, Kallie. She is back in town and he is going to try to win her back. Their story is a great second chance romance. The third book “Crave” is Machlan Gibson and Hadley Jacobs’ story. It is another great second chance romance, while each story is moving in their own way I really felt this one the deepest. Machlan always so serious, grumpy and no nonsense, yes he gives Walker a run for his money in that department. He has been in love with his best friend’s sister, Hadley, forever and has never been able to move on. It is the same for Hadley so when she returns to town she is determined to get him out of her system. But can they really be over or are they really meant to be. Can Machlan get past his own insecurities and see what he has or can have. Their story is an emotional rollercoaster ride and what a ride it was. This collection ends with Peck Ward’s story, he is the Gibson’s cousin, they grew up together and he works with Walker at Crank, plus he helps out just about everyone else. Peck plays a big part in the Gibson boys lives, he has a great personality and his existence is known where ever he goes. He has history with Molly, the town slut, and he thinks he is in love with her. But when a certain firecracker comes in to his life he starts to second guess what love is. Molly is a real piece of work, but we finally get to see more of her and what is her deal. Peck’s story is a great way to end this amazing book, it was great to spend so much time with all these great characters in a wonderful small town setting. The time flew by, mostly because it was so easy to get lost in each story, and yes it is sad that it is over, be prepared to go thru a serious book hangover after this. Adriana Locke, thank for these fabulous stories, all the drama, the laughs, the heartfelt moments, heartbreaking ones and all the feels as well as the great romance.
I listened to the Audible edition, Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross are talented narrators and voice artists. They did an amazing job portraying the characters, bringing them to life giving each their own voice and personality as well as attitude. You could hear how much heart they put into their work as they capture the characters emotions and passion and project it into their performance. They are entertaining storytellers and their duet performance makes a great story even more enjoyable. Thank you for another awesome listen, it is always a pleasure to listen to your work.
