Sloane has everything she thought she ever wanted- a great career, a great apartment, great clothes, a life she had worked hard for.Until one night, one chance encounter, one decision that changed everything. With no options left, she enlists the help of Quinton Baird & Associates, who promptly inform her that she has to leave it all – the career, the apartment, the life she had worked so hard … had worked so hard to build for herself – behind.
If all that wasn’t enough, her entire future – and life in general – was in the hands of a man whose coworkers called ‘The Ghost.’ Because that was what he did; he ghosted people, hid them, gave them new lives, made them impossible to find.
With no other choice, she agrees to his terms, climbs in a car with him, and travels almost clear across the country toward her new life. But the long hours on the road – and even longer hours in cabins and hotel rooms – together start to show her things. Like how unhappy she had actually been, how hollow her life was, how much she had denied herself in the name of superficial success.
And maybe, just maybe, how much she was starting to see how wrong first impressions can be, and how much a person can begin to mean to you when you decided to let them in…

The Ghost, Gunner is the one who disappears people and when Sloane needs to disappear after witnessing a horrific murder with no one else who can protect her, he’s the one who helps her. He has it all planned out, every leg of plan is set into place except for the feelings and desire they begin to feel for each other.
I loved this book! The rugged rough around the edges man and the richy workaholic women. They were so good for each other. And I love getting to know the other characters! I’m so excited for more!
I was super excited to start the second installment of the Professionals, especially after being introduced to Ghost aka Gunner, the man who can make people disappear. Of course the whole gang is back, with Quinton and crew. I swear each book gets better and better, I love Gadziala’s writing, humor and depth she put into her characters and stories.
The Ghost follows Sloane who needs to disappear after she witness a dangerous man do a crime and now he’s after her. She is a successful woman with her own business but per the rules of disappearing that means she has to leave everything she built behind and make a new life for herself where every Gunner The Ghost sets her up. Along the way Sloane begins to open up to Gunner and he realizes that she’s not really the prim and proper prude she pretended to be. But his job is to get her out of town and give her a new life and be done, no ties, no connections, which include him.
Sloane is a tough one to like at the beginning, she is successful and good a what she does, but her control freak natural and the way she carries herself turned her into an ice queen and prudish person. She comes off all wrong to Quinton and Gunner, but she has the money and they took the job. But her shields come down the longer she is away from everything she’s every known, she connects to Gunner and even with his gruff attitude they have a spark.
Gunner is is good at what he does, he makes people gone. Normally he does his job and he’s back home within a few days depending on where he’s relocating their clients. But when a storm strands him with Sloane for a couple of days, he comes face to face with a woman who challenges him. He’s a bit of a jerk the first half because he doesn’t like women like he thinks Sloane is, but soon he softens up and their slow burn chemistry becomes off the charts.
Of course in Sloane’s situation there has the be some low points and the author does a great job showing emotionally how starting over is a massive life hit/change. Overall this story was great, I love two opposites connecting.
I can’t wait for the next book because Kai!! Oh man my sweet, big hearted Kai. I want to wrap him up in a big hug after that ending.
Another awesome book by JG. Gunner and Sloane. Great peeks at Ranger, Jules, and Kia. Can’t wait for their books. Epilogue was so good. Always want to know more about the characters story and JG always delivers!!!
The Fixers are comprised of 6 men and one woman who are all kick ass and each has a specialty they bring to the table. Gunner’s specialty is Ghosting.. No not the act where one dater ends a relationship by simply disappearing. Gunner makes people who lives are in danger safely disappear. None of the men or women he has “hidden” were ever found.
His latest assignment is a woman who witnessed a drug lord murdering a man. After the cops and other agencies failed to protect her she is recommended to Quinton Baird’s group. Quinton then gives the job to Gunner.
Gunner’s plans to get his assignment to the location of her new life runs into a few snags. One of the biggest being he falls for the woman who once he delivers to her new life he will never see again.
Love these gruff alpha men who never think they are going to be like their friends who fall hard when they find the one..
5 The Ghost Stars on Goodreads
Where do I start… The Ghost is the second book in the Professionals series by Jessica Gadziala.
From the get go I had so much admiration for Sloane. She keeps her cool even though she is in so much pain, mentally and physically.
She has witnessed an awful crime and has to leave her life, her company and everything she has worked so hard for in her life. Gunner assumes conclusions from her appearance but he can see that she’s in pain and in his gruff way does want to help her.
Being stuck in a car and road tripping it across the country helps melt some of Gunners gruffness and grouchiness towards Sloane and he begins to see the real woman behind the designers clothes.
I hardly trusted anyone.
I barely trusted myself.
But I trusted him.
Implicitly.
Without hesitation.
That, well, was terrifying.
Because I could get used to it.
And I was only going to lose it.
Sooner rather than later.
These two were made for each other and the chemistry coming from them was exciting, I just couldn’t wait to read their story. I couldn’t put this book down. I read it in one sitting and that says a lot, I rarely get to do this anymore. As always there was a great epilogue and I loved hearing about the other men within this series. I’m very excited for more in this series.
The Ghost is what they call him, Gunner is his name is one of those you should be afraid of, run from and hope you are on his good side. He is sexy in an all Alpha, tattoo, sarcastic way. He doesn’t allow people to get close to him, keeps his feels close to the vest, until one of his jobs overcomes his logical way of thinking and he can’t get rid of her. Sloane comes across differently than she is and would never find herself to be around someone like Gunner let alone have feelings she hasn’t allowed herself to feel in a very long time. They both got under each others skin. They were made to be a couple, they complimented each other in ways you didn’t see on the surface, I fell in love with both of them.
