The ending was excruciating – I couldn’t decide if I wanted to stop or finish. It’s a great book – but the end created a tension I was not comfortable with.
I was glued to this. I found it to be a surprise at the turn of each page. I would reccomend this book.
Could not put the book down! I learned so much from this book!
Good story, interesting premise.
Sweet story
A good Holocaust book. I enjoy historical fiction. Good characters, likable people in a difficult situation. Well written
There was much more substance to this than I expected. A bit of a mystery as well, although is not a mystery! This was a book that I just wanted to keep reading until it was over and then, I wanted more!
Thought provoking historical novel….
A love story set in a tragic era of Nazi Germany.
Great, believable story from WW II.
I recommend it.
I always enjoy stories about World War II times. This one has the interesting twist of following a midwife, who works in the concentration camps and then also for a pregnancy and delivery of a high Nazi official’s baby. The characters and their situations are interesting, and made me thankful for our freedoms!
This book makes you think about life back in that era and how much we take for granted. The story is very well written.
As a maternity nurse of 50 yrs, this book brought the reality of midwifery and maternity care to the forefront Doing what is best for the patient is number 1 always I loved this book
Love the way the author moved the characters through the real life events.
Excellent read. I learned so much of a period in history where so much has already been written.
entertaining possibility based on real world events
I love possible historical stories, complete with real characters from history, and this did not disappoint!
This was a great ‘what-if? ‘ story. I learned some interesting history, but really enjoyed the story. It’s not an enjoyable setting, of course, but really made you think of what you would do if your beliefs were challenged bcuz of circumstances
Excellent book.
Fantastic historical novel. I had not read this author before. She is amazing!
