Everyone in Navesink Bank knows about Senator Ericsson’s son, his wife, and the story that hit headlines that eventually led to one of the Mallick boys going to jail for assault. What became of that woman after being coerced into lying on the stand was unknown. That was until late one night when a phone rang in the offices of Quinton Baird & Associates. And her voice was on the other end of … was on the other end of the line.

Another amazing book! Jessica Gadziala just keeps slamming me with great books left right and center! Jenny and Smith were the greatest. Jenny was an abused wife. Beaten down by her husband since she just became an adult. Smith is the man from The Fixer group come to help her through it. I loved Smith! Like freaking YUM! The whole build up if their relationship was exciting but because Jenny is a battered wife she needs to learn how to be who she truly is and I love how well he fit into that roll for her. To guide her but let her choose what she wanted. The epilogue was so amazing! It made my heart overflow. Beautifully written!
“Our demons recognize each other.”
A woman beaten down for so long she had become an automaton, until the night it all went too far and she snapped.
A gentle man, generally only called in to be the muscle behind the order, meets the woman of a lifetime at the worst possible moment.
The fourth in the Professionals series, Jessica Gadziala hands out a holiday treat so yummy, I finished it in 4 hours. Smith is perfection, the kind of man everyone dreams of. Protective, in control of himself, but willing to be vulnerable and show the need he’s feeling in the absolute best moment. Jenny is truly broken. Life has beaten her down so badly she sees no way out, but when she takes her shot she heals beautifully.
All of JG’s books are special, but the way she deals with sensitive subjects is phenomenal. DV survivors can rest assured she’s done her research, and she knows surviving takes a minute.
The epilogue is mind blowing with a wonderful Easter egg waiting like a ticking time bomb, and Bellamy absolutely needs to be next. He needs a taste of his own medicine!
For those of us ensconced in JG Navesink Bank Universe this was a special book. We finally get the story of a woman who has been abused for 15 years by her husband whose family forced her to lie on the stand and put a innocent man in jail years ago. This story is about when she finally stood up to her abuser and ended his reign of abuse. In the way she ended it she then required the services of the Professionals to make it look like something other than a wife murdering her a husband.
Senator Ericsson and his sick, twisted abusive son Teddy have control Jenny for over 15 years. Nothing was her own. Not even her free will to choose what she ate, how she dressed, her life was not her own to live. After a brutal beating, which she decides is her last, she finally starts the process of taking back her life which is helped by Smith from Quinton Baird and Associates who job is to help clients clean up messes.
At the start of the book Jenny was like a caterpillar who had been stuck in her cocoon for years. And even though she could finally put an end to her chrysalis as with the caterpillar the butterfly needs to struggle at emergence in order for its wings to work. Smith was so patient with Jenny being supportive but knowing that she needed to emerge on her own.
Theirs was a beautiful love story to watch unfold.
If the story alone did make this a five star book the epilogue certainly did. Way to introduce a new member of the team!! And Bellamy you sneaky devil..
The General was hands down one of my favorite Jessica Gadziala reads to date…she took on a seriously heavy topic with such finesse and gracefulness. The layers and detail that she puts into each new book blows me away and with this particular story Noah “Smith” & Jenny’s story…man she got me right in all the feels
What happened to Jennifer Ericsson after Eli Mallick stepped in so many years ago?…After she lied on the stand and sent him away. And how does she pull herself from the darkness that has become her everyday life? This is a story about second chances, forgiveness, fighting thru the darkness and becoming who you were always meant to be with a little love and patience from the right partner.
Do yourself a favor and read this book you won’t regret the time you spend in Navesink Bank and I cannot wait for the next book to go back
I feel like a broken record, but this book was another hit! One of the many things I love about Jessica Gadziala’s books is the strength of the heroines. Jenny had endured years and years of abuse and she finally could not and would not take it anymore. She took things into her own hands and stopped it. I have, thankfully, not ever been in such a situation so I really could not imagine how she was able to survive for so many years. She did have her reasons for staying, but to have the ability to keep going was awe-inspiring. Quinton Baird & Associates was available to help her out of this, but it was Smith that helped her heal. Noah Smith was amazing with her, so patient and protective. They had such great chemistry. And when Jenny sees Eli for the first time, that scene really choked me up, but his response was awesome!
Like many of Jessica’s books, I loved it all. I always look forward to the epilogues and in this book it was as good as always. Definitely looking forward to who is next.
Jennifer/ Jenny/ Jen Ericsson is the Senator Ericsson’s daughter-in-law.
So, we first met Jenny in Eli Mallick’s book. Teddy had beaten his wife half to death & Eli Mallick safe Jenny’s life that night, but jenny had lied on the stand & that led to Eli Mallick being sent to jail
So, as you imagine, one night after one too many beatings Jenny snaps & needs the help of Quinn’s team.
Smith (AKA) The General, he was the one they called in for the butt-whoopings, the intimidation, the strong-handing cases, but since Quin was out of town for the entire month on vacation. Smith was second in command ….. So had the pleasure of trying to fix Jennifer Ericsson’s problems
Oh my gosh, I cry so damn hard when I heard Jenny’s story!
I love how JG sneak in two more characters
I can’t wait to find out more about Bellamy that man that seems to drug pretty much everyone he meets & Nia aka The Hacker.
Happy Reading — Enjoy ……. Paulette Review
5 Heartbreak Stars
The General is the 4th edition in the Professionals Series. This series just keeps getting better and better. We first hear about Jenny in Eli’s book and to be honest you learn that her life is not all puppies and rainbows. Finally we get her story and the why… After 15 years of a brutal marriage it still hasn’t broke Jenny and we see her grow into her own. From the first chapter this books launches straight into it which if I’m being honest I love. No long drawn out start. just straight into this gritty, heartbreaking read.
Smith is sent to help Jenny get out of her situation and from then we see these two grow closer. His love and patience towards her while she goes through this turmoil is amazing. I loved the heat and connection between the two and I also really enjoyed all her secondary characters and they add such Humor. Defiantly a 5 star read for me and highly recommend giving it a read.
There was only so much a man could protect a woman from. Sometimes her vanity had to win the fight. Even if she had sore feet after.
