Murdered artists. Masterful forgeries. Art crime at its worst.
As an insurance investigator and world renowned expert in nonverbal communication, Dr Genevieve Lenard faces the daily challenge of living a successful, independent life. Particularly because she has to deal with her high functioning Autism. Nothing — not her studies, her high IQ, or her astounding analytical skills — prepared her … analytical skills — prepared her for the changes about to take place in her life.
It started as a favour to help her boss’s acerbic friend look into the murder of a young artist, but soon it proves to be far more complex. Forced out of her predictable routines, safe environment and limited social interaction, Genevieve is thrown into exploring the meaning of friendship, expanding her social definitions, and for the first time in her life be part of a team in a race to stop more artists from being murdered.

Loved it. I can relate to the autism because it is in my family, but doesn’t manifest the same as Genevieve. I find it eye-opening that we use so many “expressions” in our daily speech, we don’t realize it until it’s pointed out to us by someone who doesn’t understand them. The story was convoluted, but understandable. I’m reading some more of …
The main character has issues I’ve never read before in a novel. Makes for a dimension I haven’t experienced. Very readable. Will read more by this author about this character.
This is one of the best mysteries I have ever read. Upon finishing I immediately ordered every book by the author I could find. Also an amazing look into works of a highly functioning autistc person
The main character, Genevieve was fascinating. I found I cared more about her and her behaviors than the plot. The other characters were equally interesting and I became very fond of them. I have recommended this book to several people and plan to read more of the series.
Just love these books.. read this and the rest in the series…
A novel point if view. I bought all the books in the series as I wanted to see how the characters, and esp Eve, would grow.
I had never read a book about a high functioning autistic person before. Their lives can be challenging in so many ways, but also very rewarding. I enjoyed this book.
Absolutely wonderful, love the characters and the plot.
I loved this book because of the main character Genevieve. She faces her disability with tenacity, her friends rally around her enabling her to draw on her considerable strengths to grow and to flourish. She has a sense of humor and sensitivity. She faces a formidable adversary, but even through her missteps she is never undone. The plot is …
Really great read, kept me on the edge of my seat and turning pages from the very start to the very end. If you enjoyed the Davinci Code you will really love this book!!!
the story kept you thinking and at the end i really wanted to keep reading about these unique characters!
Unusual characters and different location. Great situation developments and informative about people I am not familiar with. Good read I am now reading all in this series.
Just plain fun and fascinating characters
Good read
Not everyone will like this protagonist, but I very much enjoyed spending time with her. The supporting characters were uniformly interesting and well drawn. The complicated plot was difficult to follow occasionally, but appropriately resolved in the end.
Hard to follow
Nice character development with as unusual protagonist.
Love the Genevieve Lenard series. The stories are intricate and suspenseful. The Gauguin Connection is book one and should be read first. The reader needs to get to know and understand Genevieve to appreciate the books. The rest of the series builds on this book.
I liked this book and will definitely try book number two, but I wish the interaction between the characters were more emotion provoking. I understand that with the main character’s Asperger syndrome, her reactions are stilted, but I was hoping for more!
Intelligent and so interesting
