*swoons*
Hes perfect! hes a bad boy who makes his own rules and who pretends not to care for the purpose of self preservation.
I loved the angst the drama he brought to the table. The regret and self loathing.
She could be you or me, and that’s what made this book even more special.
She has no spectacular skill, nor is she a beauty queen or cheerleader and for me that alone made me giddy inside.
Put them together and its intense. The denial is both brutal and beautiful.
Two passionate characters who cant admit the truth and I for one couldnt get enough of them!
A fantastic second book in this series! The raiders are well and truly in my heart and I can’t wait for more!
Darling, I have no words to express how much I love this book. Love is not even the right word. It’s more than that word.
The Game You Play left such an impression behind. One that makes me want to reread it every single time a thought popped into my head about the book.
L.A. Cotton proofed to me once again why I love romance book so much. She did an amazing job with this one. And I say wholeheartedly that The Game You Play is even better than the first one this series.
You get interesting characters, a storyline so hypnotizing and entertaining, and hate to turn into love.
THIS makes my heart beat faster.
We were introduced to Jason and Felicity in the first book of the series namely The Trouble with You. I was already hooked on the idea of their relationship and I was dying to read their story. I jumped right away on that ARC and devoured it in one day.
Jason and Felicity were extraordinary characters. Characters with flaws that made them so unique. They were interesting, peculiar in some ways, but loveable nonetheless.
Certainly, Felicity. She was portrayed as the weird girl, but I only wanted to be friends with her. Her life was completely mapped out from birth, but her dreams lay somewhere else and she only wants to follow her heart. And Felicity has a goal that senior year and that is to make it memorable. That’s why she has a bucket list just for that year and she is determined to complete it. I loved her so much. She was kind but so different from everyone else. She’s passionate, loves deeply in intensely, and gets hurt just like any other person.
And her chemistry with Jason Ford, the man that sees her as a distraction, is completely of the charts. It’s scorching hot and made even me blush from time to time. I shipped them more than I shipped myself with Jason. They had this connection that was more than just lust from the beginning. It was love even when Jason had nothing kind to say.
He was broken and sometimes it felt like he was beyond repair. And I LOVE that in books. They make me enjoy it even more. It makes them interesting and desirable in one way or another. And Jason was everything I love in a hero in a book.
He was cocky, harsh, mean and jealous. Jason Ford is a complicated being. Some might have started because of his family. His dad in particular. But that wasn’t going to stop Jason from reaching his dream which is becoming a professional football player and nothing is going to stop him until Felicity takes over more and more of his thoughts. And he needs to fight that distraction.
The hate to love had such an organic flow. It felt like love the entire time but it was coated by a layer of hate. The acceptance that it could be more than hate for Jason was beautifully written. I felt his struggles and I felt how hard it was for him to push it away. And sometimes it slipped out and that ended up in being extremely hot and feisty scenes.
The push and the pull is everything in this book and it’s another reason why I love this book so much. I hate it when they fall in love right away I need to see the journey of them reaching in the end which is love, of course. L.A. Cotton did a fantastic job creating these characters and an amazing storyline. And it was that memorable because of her writing.
The Game You Play is a solid five stars. A book filled with hate that slowly turns into love. It’s entertaining, wonderful and absolutely worthy of your time. Fall in love with flawed characters and follow their road to love. The Game You Play will capture your heart, I promise.
This is the 2nd book in this phenomenal series, and is Felicity and Jason’s story. Jason is the cocky and arrogant star football player, who has his life mapped out and nothing will stop him in his mission to get there. Felicity is a quiet and nerdy girl who has her life planned out by her parents, but she is determined to follow her own path through life. These two have a love / hate relationship, but the chemistry between them is explosive, and she is his calm through the storm. This is a beautifully written story which is filled with angst, emotion, and witty banter, which had me totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and I highly recommend for all lovers of an enemies / lovers romance.
This book blew my mind! I connected with Jase from book 1. His cruelness and coldness just drew me in. I could tell there was way more to him than meets the eye. He was instantly my favorite though. I have been dying to get this arc since I finished book 1 after that ending. I was pulled in from page 1 with this book! I could literally read it again right now. LA Cotton blew me away with Jase and Flick’s story and I loved every word! I felt every emotion! Also, being a former athlete I loved the scenes in Jason’s POV during his football games. I’ve felt that passion when I played so it was so real feeling to me. This whole book just blew me away! LA Cotton did it again with another beyond 5 star read!
The second of the Rixon Raiders, and we start off after the happenings in book one. So be sure to read the first, The Trouble With you, before this. Felicity is Hailee’s best friend, and has been there from the start. She knows just what trouble Jason Ford is, but for some reason she has this strong pull towards him. After one night, Flick, knew the score, but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt any less. Why does she let him play these games with her?
Jason has been trained for one thing, getting into the NFL. After all the family drama we saw in book one, when the truth came out, Jason has had even less to do with his father and step-mother, while Hailee and he have somewhat of a truce working. Jason knows that he shouldn’t have took it as far with Felicity as he did, but he couldn’t help himself. Now, he maintains his distance, making sure that she knows just what that one night was, a mistake. But if that’s true, why does he care what she is doing and who she is talking to? Why does he have this pull? Is this just another game he has to win?
Once again I completely forgot these were high schoolers. This was such a good read, it grabbed me and didn’t let go until the very end, and even then I wanted more. I’m not going to spoil anything, I will say this story has loads of drama, hot naughty bits and a little bit of violence. I am a tiny bit disappointed in Jason and Felicity there were a few things that I didn’t care for, in the end I give it 4 stars.
Jason and Felicity are everything!!!! I am keeping this short and sweet so I don’t give anything away. You might have hated Jason before but you’ll fall in love with him just like Felicity did. She saw the true him and never gave up, even if she went through some heartache. The Rixon Raiders series is a Must read!
“He wasn’t a white knight swooping in to win the damsel’s heart. He was the evil Prince out to wreck and ruin and leave a trail of broken hearts in his wake.”
Wow, what a game…. Gripping, thrilling, intoxicating… Jason Ford and Felicity Giles are a beautiful disaster, a storm that will blow your mind.
“She reminded me of a doe. Innocent and vulnerable. Waiting to be picked off by the big bad wolf.”
Jason, the bad boy whose bitter and cold hurt slowly turns to gold as soon as he allows himself to care. My heart broke for him so many times through the book, and even though I should have hated him, I couldn’t bring myself to.
Felicity, the girl with the lists, determined to make her last school year count. She’s such a strong personality, and with her constant inner and outer sunshine, Felicity managed to break the icy walls around Jason’s heart.
“Jason Ford was the devil in sheep’s clothing and I was nothing more than a game wrapped up in a pretty package.”
I really do love the new world the author created with the Rixon Raiders series. The characters are all captivating and addicting. The way they work together is like a perfect game you win at the end and I can’t wait to read the next book, hoping there will be even more books.
“”You’re not a means to an end, Giles. You’re endgame.”
The Game You Play is the next perfect enemies-to-lovers romance in the Rixon Raiders series, showing there is no dangerously sweeter win as love over hate.
4.5 stars
The Game You Play is the second book in the Rixon Raiders Series. Jason was such a a$$hole in The Trouble With You, that I really had my doubts that I would grow to like him in his story. I mean he’s still the same ole Jason, but as the story progressed I began to understand why he did the things he did a bit better. I’m still shocked that L A Cotton got me to like him, but she did. Felicity is a good girl, Hailey’s best friend, and she made a list of things she wants to do before high school ends. Nowhere on that list did it say fall in love with Jason.
I can’t wait for Mya and Asher story.
Rate: 5 / 5 stars
This book was crazy good. I was so excited for Jase’s book and he did not disappoint.
I was super excited to get inside his head and see what was really going down between him and Felicity and truth be told I had expected by that point to have been more than what it was but I’m glad to not have missed much and to have a full view of messed up relationship. Yes, messed up because with Jase that’s the only thing you’ll get. He’s a douchebag through and through and although you’ll learn to love him like his friends do, there’s still so many times you’ll want to punch some sense into him.
If you thought Cam and Hailee were frustrating, this one is way worse in the best way though. Jase doesn’t want to fall in love and wants nothing serious but he can’t seem to stay away from Felicity and no matter how many times he hurts her she can’t seem to say no to him. It’s a f*cked up back and forth relationship but it works and it’s 100% them. The good, the bad, the worse. All in one big clusterf*ck of emotions and high school drama and rivalry. As always someone always ends up in the crossfire between Raiders and the Rixon East Eagles.
Jase will end up surprising you and his love for Felicity will slap you in the face and shock your heart into cardiac arrest. Gosh, my love for him grew slowly throughout the book but there was one defying moment were I feel for him completely. He hides so much of himself and what he really feels. I hope one day he and his Dad can repair their relationship because the hurt and anger that Jase carries inside him hurt even to read about and it’s the cause of everything else.
My goodness, Hailee and Cam could not have been more adorable in this book. The little glimpses of the two ‘angels’ and happy and in love made me happy. Hailee and Felicity’s relationship although sometimes rocky due to Felicity liking Jase was amazing to read. And let’s not forever the new addition to their group and Asher’s love interest, Mya. I’m so curious about her and cannot wait to learn more about her past and her friendship with Asher. And of course, I can’t forget this little nugget because I love him tremendously. He won me over in book 1 but I fell so hard for him in this one. He is the best kind of friend, willing to put his friends before himself and sacrifice anything for them. He is the true depiction of loyalty and friendship. A true Huffepuff and I am hereby claming him.
The Game You Play is a novel filled with so much goodness, there is delicious banter and sexual chemistry, there amazing friends, all the drama of a high school romance and there is a lot of angst and just so much more that made this book into the amazing thing it is. I love this group of teammates and their girls and I can’t wait for more of them and to finally see my baby Asher get his spotlight.
Felicity was sure on a merry-go round . She seemed to never know which way Jason was gonna treat her. Felicity seemed to blossom in her character as you got further in the book. Jason had so many people depending on him to be the best at football. It seemed that Jason spent so much time catering to others he forgot what what & who could make him happy. He was trying to build a wall around himself so nobody could thaw out his icy demeanor. In this novel I must say opposites do attract a quiet girl & star quarterback that will leave you with a happy ever after.
I’ve been anticipating Jase and Felicity’s story by LA Cotton since the end of The Trouble With You. I definitely was not disappoint as the wait was well worth it. LA Cotton exceeded all my expectations and more.
The beauty of two lost souls is how both pieces complete each other when put together. Felicity saw Jason, not the star football player, popular jock or the legacy behind him. She saw HIM. Although, there were many times in the story I just wanted to strangle him. I found he redeemed himself by the end. The chemistry between the two was undeniable as the hate/love thing they had going was just sizzling.
The introduction of the new character made this story even more enjoyable as you could see what LA Cotton might have in store for us with all the bickering and sexual tension between Ash and Mya.
The Game You Play is well worth the read! I loved every minute of this book! The endgame was fan-fricking-tastic!
Didn’t think I was going to like Jason and for most of the book I didn’t! However he redeemed himself and he is now one of my favs!! Looking forward to Asher’s story now.
I love this series! Like a crap ton! Consumed this in one sitting.
Jason..a$$hole #1..he had my head spinning. For the most part I was so annoyed with his entitlement but by the end, I did understand how much pressure he was under.
This series covers true friendships. Ride or die friendships and I love it.
High school drama..peer pressure and parents expectations.
Flick is the perfect quirky bird for Jason and Vice versa. I loved watching their love story unfold.
The new addition, Mya, really added some spice to the mix. I can’t wait for her story..and Ash’s.

And L.A Cotton has done it again, loved this book it had everything from love to hate, angst and a brilliant storyline that i just didn’t want to put down.
As this story was one of i wasn’t sure how it was going to go i didn’t expect to not like Jason, he was a prick in the first book but i didn’t expect him to get worse. The more the book went on the more i was thinking he has a lot to redeem himself, but in true fashion when you found out why he did what he did and you could see what was behind his bravado i really liked him and even fell in love with him by the end.
Felicity was awesome she was different and quirky and just not a match for Jasmine being the most popular bit from the beginning even when they try and push each other away you could feel the chemistry and thier banter was good.
I loved that the other characters from the previous book were in this so much and you really got a feel for Cam and Hailees happy ending and Asher is such an awesome character and i really loved the introduction to Mya, i loved how she fit in with the girls straight away.
This book had it all, angst, secrets, bad attitudes, emotional and you perfect YA story. These are books i love and when an author gets it so god dam right i just love it, and this book is no exception
ARC kindly provided by the author. All thoughts are my own.
Okay fam… I know we like to read a lot romance and rave over it but I am here to tell you… if you’re going to pick up a book this year.. just one… THIS IS IT. I am simply blown away right now. I picked the book up yesterday and was quickly pulled in. Got about half way and went to bed. Now, ya girl is college football crazy… and other than the Alabama game, I have barely watched a down all day. I also thought, maybe I was just really in the mood to read yesterday and it wouldn’t pull me so hard today. NOPE. I read with gusto. I read book one of this series at the urging of my book bestie and she did not lead me astray. I really loved book one, The Trouble with You. Truly. But this book is just beyond next level for me.
You meet the characters for this book in book one, The Trouble with You. Jason is the stepbrother to Hailee from book one and Felicity ‘Flick’ Giles is Hailee’s best friend. Jason and his friends are football gods for the Rixon Raiders and Jason is your QB1. I would definitely suggest reading book one before this book because you just get a glimpse of these characters and their personalities plus there are events you’ll want to know about. I don’t want to give you many other details because I don’t want to spoil anything. Book one is definitely worth your time to read anyway though.
I seriously cannot get over this book. These characters were EVERYTHING. The ANGST. OMG! It was perfection. Absolutely every detail to this book was perfection. I don’t know if there is some demon LA Cotton sacrificed animals to in order to achieve this work of art but I urge her to keep sacrificing if that’s what brought this book into being. Do I sound crazy? It’s because logical thought has left me after having my head spun with this book. I even saw where one girl said she read the book TWICE IN ONE DAY… I won’t lie, I was thinking, okay crazy lady…… *side eye* Nah, totally get it now. I could for real read this book again right this minute. This will forever be a book that I reread. I AM IN LOVE.
I can not urge you all enough to READ THIS BOOK!!!! Read book one of course but then READ THIS BOOK!!!!!!
Felicity Giles has had enough, she is fed up with her parents high expectations, and constantly being told how to live her life. It’s her senior year of high school, she wants to live a little and have some fun, and maybe do a few reckless things too. So, she makes a list of things she wants to do before she graduates, and with her friends help she’s hoping to cross every last item off the list!
Her little list is about to bring her everything she has ever dreamed of having, like a certain sexy star quarterback… but it might bring a few unexpected complications too!
The Rixon Raiders are back, and this time readers get up close and personal view of their star quarterback and the lucky lady who has scored his full attention! Jason Ford doesn’t do relationships or love, after baring witness to what happens when it doesn’t work, he was quick to cross it off his list. As much as he detested love, the more his female counterpart Felicity craved it, which could only spell disaster for them. He was constantly keeping her at arm’s length, pulling her in when the craving for her became too strong, then pushing her away when feelings started to surface. This little battle of their’s brought serious heart torturing angst to the pages, they just about wrecked me with their little game. I absolutely loved every single second of this one, it’s words were completely absorbing and so good on my heart! Highly recommend!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
Wow what did i just read. I sooooo devour this book in one sitting and was holding breath throughout this book. Their were times i just wanted to slap Jason up side of the head to get his head on straight. But once everything works out this will have you loving this book. The story is a push and pull throughout this story and will have you loving this alpha football player. This is a must read book and you will love the fast pace read.
This is series is simply addicting. After reading ‘The Trouble With You’, I could not stand Jason. I thought Felicity was wacky to have a crush on him. However, Felicity saw something the rest of us could not. As I’m devouring this book in one sitting, Jason just kept verifying my opinion about him. Felicity choose Asher! He’s an awesome guy! Then I started seeing little glimpses of what Felicity saw. This book is a riveting and jaw-dropping phenomenon. I cannot get enough of this exceptional series. Football fanatics, deadly rivals, shattered hearts, forever friendships, and “end-game” love are just a few things to expect from this all-encompassing story.
