*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
What a fantastic addition to this wonderful series!! We pick up pretty much where book one left off after the one night between Felicity and Jason. Both are under the delusion that it was a one time mistake but events have other ideas as they keep getting thrown together despite trying to avoid it. Add in the rivalry and things really get good. Well developed and emotionally gripping sucking you into the story. Total must read! I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
Football, bucket lists, arch rival and enemies to lovers. The story of Jason & Felicity is a steady stream of ups and downs. It was awesome to be in both these characters heads. I thought Jason was going to be the only complex character, but Felicity has layers too. Once they strip each other bare, what is found underneath the layers is beautiful.
Jason is my favorite character. I love complicated characters, and he is definitely that. I loved being in his head, getting a different take on what he never shows on the outside. Felicity is more of an open book, but i learned more of her issues and insecurities as well. Watching these two come together was angst ridden and messy, but what comes out of that is two people who are so different that they’re the best thing for each other. I love this couple!!
I love this series! I can’t wait for the next book, and I’m looking forward to Asher finally getting his happy ending. My heart goes out to that boy.
This Series has easily become one of my favorites. When I read The Trouble With You I couldn’t stand Jason and when I started The Game You Play I was wondering how he would become a redeemable character. Well let me tell you he is full of surprises. Felicity is sweet and lovely and I just love her. This book and series is each a standalone and focuses on different couples with each book. I’m so glad I picked up the first one and now I’m hooked. I don’t want to give away any spoilers so I’m trying not to give too much detail. LA Cotton has outdone herself with the Rixon Raiders. Characters are only as deep as you make them and honey she dug a lake that you just want to keep swimming in. I honestly can not say enough good things about this book. The development, character building, word flow, attention to detail, everything is on point. The Football is one of my favorite things as well. If you haven’t started this Series or read this book then DO IT. Do it now. I can assure you that you won’t be sorry and it will easily be a 5 star read for you as well. Congratulations LA Cotton you just won the Championship.
I honestly thought Cameron would be hard to replace as my number Raider, but Jase has absolutely stomped all over him and demanded that number one spot. He starts out as a complete jerk who is horrible to mostly everyone even his friends at times, but he did care about them and somewhat Hailee now. Jase was completely goal driven and has his sights on accomplishing them all and nothing else matters or will get in his way. All he has ever known was football and becoming the best and doing the things his dad never got to do. I loved that he was hardworking and focused, but it did take away from his life and added so much pressure onto his shoulders, you could tell it was hard for him at times to be the golden boy all the time and never getting to just be himself. Felicity was a do gooder, always following her mom and dad’s plans for her future and never stepping out of line until her senior year and she starts to step out of her shell, then becomes attracted to Jase. Jase and Felicity have such an amazing chemistry and they love/hate each other at times but you just know they are perfect for each other. They had a lot of drama to overcome, Jase had to learn that sometimes it was ok not to be one hundred percent focused on football all the time and Fee had to learn that she should step up and start doing things and thinking for herself. There were moments that I absolutely wanted to smack the crap out of Jase, then moments I wanted to just hug him and tell him he didn’t need to put so much pressure on himself and love him. I was proud when Felicity started making decisions for herself and I loved that no matter what Jase had said or put her through she still couldn’t help but love him. Jase proved a million times over that no matter how much him and Fee fought or had issues he only ever always had her wellbeing in mind. This is a great somewhat bully read that these two characters will melt your heart and Jase will definitely demand to steal it.
Wonderful story! Loved and hated Jason but so glad he finally got his HEA!
Lianne has blown me away again, totally knocked it out of the park! During the first book I didn’t really like Jase and didn’t think I would warm too him, but I am one million percent #teamjase and all his hot male alpha broodiness after his story!
Getting to delve into Jase and what makes him tick has been an awesome ride and certainly gives you the freaking feels . I feel like I have been on Flick and Jase’s journey as of I was there with them . CAN.NOT.WAIT for Asher’s story #bringiton #RixonRaiders #irideraiders #TheRaidersAreComing #teamjase
I LOVED This story.
This is book 2 in this series and Jason and Felicity’s story tied me up in knots.
Jason was so mean to flick,I honestly don’t know how she put up with him…But god he is super sexy.
L.A Cotton has written another phenomenal book for these two characters and a perfect extension of the Rixton Raiders series.
I Loved it and went through so many emotions.
I highly recommend it.

STORY:
Book 2 for me was better than book 1. I was really into Felicity’s and Jason’s connection since book 1, and I don’t think they disappointed me. Jason’s take charge, demanding attitude and do you know who I am bravado balances out Felicity’s corky and the girl nobody notices persona. The storyline continues from book 1 with the rivalry with the Eagles. The story also plays out the relationship between Jason and his dad, along with no resolution to Hailee’s mom. For me, what I enjoyed the most was the high and low communication between Jason and Felicity. When it was good it was good and when it was bad it was bad, and that’s all because of Jason’s stubbornness. This made it a good read for me.
There were a few moments between Felicity and Jason in Cameron’s and Hailee’s story that I thought would be explained, but it wasn’t. The night of the party, when Hailee woke up to the sound of Felicity crying because Jason did something, I still don’t know what happened.
SEXUAL CHEMISTRY:
I enjoyed their sexual chemistry and sex scenes a little bit more than Cameron’s and Hailee’s. Jason’s intensity does the trick so I was satisfied. I will say though, I felt cheated in the beginning because Felicity was a virgin and that moment was glazed over. Silly, I know, but I need to be a part of that moment.
SECONDARY CHARACTERS:
It was great seeing Cameron and Hailee and Asher and Maya. This is a group of best friends, so I love that they all still have important roles in each book. I am looking forward to Asher’s and Maya’s story. I have to say, it doesn’t sound appealing, but I want to see it through.
OVERALL:
I like book 2 and found their story more appealing to my liking.
TRIGGERS:
****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read. I based my book reviews on my preferences and what I like, and while these preferences may not be the same for others, I hope this review was still helpful.
Sizzle. Sass. Swiftness.
As the second book in the Rixon Raiders series, The Game You Play, Jason and Felicity set the tone of a love-hate relationship with plenty of tension and undeniable chemistry! Jase is relentless when it comes to being an alpha hot-hole like no other, while the weirdly endearing Flick can’t help but get burn!
“Last chance,” he warned, his eyes darkening to the color of his sheets.
“I’m not running,” I said defiantly.
“Good, because I’d chase you to the ends of the earth. You’re mine, Felicity. Every single piece of you.” ~ Jason Ford, The Game You Play excerpt
This “ride or die” swiftness of Jase and Fee’s relationship was off the charts, and delivered an angsty love-hate story full of sizzling sweet sass, and I look forward to the last novel, The Harder You Fall!
L. A. Cotton
Talk about liking the jackhole. Jason Ford is definitely the jackhole.
Rixon Raiders’ QB1 has a crush. Since he’s complicated as all hell, he has to make it the most diabolical crush known to man and make her life living hell. Felicity Giles isn’t safe. Jason had a taste of her once, and something about that flavor has stayed on his tongue. He’s damn near addicted, but she’s going to pay for seducing him before the game is over.
The last time you saw someone this effed in the head and still functioning was probably hot-hole, Baron Spencer from Vicious by L.J. Shen. The two characters are both spectacularly mean and unyielding. Jason Ford is a powder keg waiting to explode, and his nemesis Lewis Thatcher is providing him a lot of sparks in The Game You Play.
The Thatcher storyline carried over from the previous book and goes into this one. These books spend a good deal of time with previous characters since they are all besties. Cameron gets a lot of facetime trying to defuse Jason while simultaneously losing his head in this book.
I enjoyed the layering of Jason’s character and the depth that L.A. Cotton gave to Felicity. In The Trouble With You, she often came across as flighty and frivolous. Flick has a lot grounding her in her own book. It was nice to see why she made her senior year bucket list in the first place.
While Cameron is my favorite character, I think this book’s emotion and psychological depth make it a better book than the last. I recommend this book. But this series must be read in order for the reader to understand what is happening with the background story arc fully.
The Trouble with You
Vicious
“He wasn’t a white knight swooping in to win the damsel’s heart. He was the evil Prince out to wreck and ruin and leave a trail of broken hearts in his wake.”
As the previous one , I really enjoined it.
The best word to summarize this book is only one: J A S O N .
His strong character, his indifference, his alpha male presence make it impossible to stop reading it.
And near a so strong man can be no one other than someone like Felicity.
A strong , very strange and unique woman . Who’s finally ready to live her life , to take every chance . This time she was ready to make the most of her high school experience , no matter what . And well , Jason happened and her world was literally put upside down.
The chemistry and the passion between them was on the next level.
“I’m not running,” I said defiantly.
“Good, because I’d chase you to the ends of the earth. You’re mine, Felicity. Every single piece of you.”
How he could’t help falling at her feet every time, like he was Superman and she was his kryptonite.
I devoured it in one night. It was a real page turner e.
So I really recommend it . stars.
I hope you’ll enjoy it like I did!
Freaking LOVE Jase! Yea, he’s been a huge a** BUT I have a weak spot for the mad broken ones.
I’ve been waiting what feels like forever for Flick and Jason’s story! They love and hate equally…until it changes and they love more than they hate! Jase refuses to give up his dream of the NFL…it’s his endgame and he makes sure EVERYONE knows this including Flick! At first it’s what she expects from him but then he shows part of himself to her that makes he want to be his endgame! She wants what her friend has, Jase makes her want that with him.
I don’t want to say too much. I hate giving spoilers and it’s too easy to start talking spoilers without realizing it with this one! So good!
LA Cotton just spun one amazing enemies to lovers! The angst, the hate and anger, the sizzling attraction between Jase and Flick!
4.5
The alpha jerk we love to hate!
Spanish & English Opinion ::
ESP ::
Este es mi libro favorito de la serie. Jason es muy patán, Felicity es buena pero no es el cliché de dejada.
La dinámica enemies to lovers es excelente. Ya amamos a Cam y a Hailee y continuar sabiendo de ellos es lo máximo.
Asher me encanta. Conocemos a Mya. Y la relación entre los personajes nos tiene en suspenso. ¡Excelente libro para disfrutar a un patanete que se redime!
ENG ::
Thai second book is without a doubt, my favorite. Jason is a total jerk, Felicity is a good girl but not in the “I allowe everything” way (not always at least).
Their chemistry is great and the enemies to lovers dynamic works perfectly.
We continue to read About Cam and Hailee (who we love) and also more of Asher, who’s hilarious. Mya is introduced and the book has lots of angsty moments and tension. Great reading if you life jerks becoming better guys!
Hearing from Cameron that Felicity was a virgin, he had no idea, but he decided to talk to her. She tells him that it’s not a fairy tale, he’s not the prince, but he didn’t miss the look in her eyes. When she tells him to go to hell all he hears is game on.
Needing to be at his best and the rivalry with the Thatcher, Jason knows he can’t have distractions this year, he needs Felicity to hate him, she’s a distraction to his goal of the NFL. She wants him to go back to her being the person that never existed, but now he’s not sure he can.
Felicity didn’t expect to see a glimpse of the real Jason, that he’s tortured over everything and sometimes he just wants the pressures to stop. She saw him, that he wanted her, as soon as it started it was over and he went back to cold and detached. She knows he would never want someone like her but for some reason she can never say no to him.
Jason didn’t like that Thatcher touched Felicity, he didn’t like what he was feeling, he wanted to lose himself in her, she kept saying she was tired of his games, but he wasn’t sure of the rules anymore with her. She kept pushing him, telling him to be careful for someone that doesn’t care he seems like he does, but he knows he does, she wants to see the real him, know the real him but can he let her, she’s slowly working her voodoo bullshit on him and he knows she’s everything he ever needed, she calms him in the darkness. She’s flipped his world, but can he admit he cares for her, will he stay blinded by the game or will Felicity finally find out why he’s been keeping her at a distance and love him more
Book 2) Felicity & Jason.
High school bully romance, football, drama, blackmail, the story continues, trouble, best friend, lies, drama lamas, fight or die… love falls hard.
The story continues, drama is following Jason, and it has consequences for all that is involved…
Loved reading it, and to see where the story goes.
5 star read
This is definitely my favourite book from this series, I fell in love with Jason the moment I read about him! his love story with felicity is one of the best I’ve ever read, I really love this book
After reading TTWY I wasn’t completely sure that Jason could redeem himself. I will admit that I was wrong. I was happy and so impressed with him. Yeah sure there were moments when I seriously wanted to reach through the story and smack him. But in the end he sacrificed so for the one(s) he loved. Then we have Felicity. She was sweet, kind, and caring. She also was stuck in a “safe” life her parents wanted for her but she wasn’tso she she wanted for herself. That’s a hard place to be in. Flick and Jason were good for each other. He made her bold and she helped ground him. They needed and so deserved each other. Though their road was tough I’m so glad they got their HEA. I look forward to seeing more of them in Asher’s story. Now that’s a boy I want to see get his HEA. *I voluntarily read an advanced copy of this book for my honest and unbiased review.*
This story continues on from The Trouble with You and in the first book you meet Jason and Felicity. The rivalry from the first book is still in full force. The pressures of winning weigh down on Jason. The pressures of deciding if Felicity wants live the life her parents have set for her or to actually do what she desires. In the middle of all this there is the pull they both feel towards each other no matter how hard they fight it but do they give in? I love this series so much. The characters you love and hate keep me turning the pages. This is a story I hated and loved at the same time. I need more, cannot wait for the next book.
Oh my God I thought Cameron was my favorite but dang move over the Quartback is in the field. Have to say Felicity is more than I expected but boy is she a firecracker when it comes to Jason. The chemistry they have is more than what they thought was possible and L.A Cotton didn’t stop with just their chemistry but the sparring between them was hot as hell. Here is a girl who may seem kind of shy and well nerdy but watch out with this one. Poor Jason has no idea what is in store with him and laughed when she puts it all on the table for him. What I loved the most was that we saw more than a football player we saw the real Jason that nobody has seen before. We see a young man who has known only one love, football and boy when Felicity comes in it was fun to see him struggling in a way he doesn’t know how to handle. L.A Cotton once again doesn’t disappoint and this is one series that I am wanting more and cannot wait to see what she does with Asher. This is one game that Jason has to decide which way he wants the touchdown to go on the field or in his heart. AWESOME!!
“I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own.”
3 mean stars
I have conflicted feelings about this one .
On one hand I’m enjoying the world this author has created in this series . The group of characters are tight nit and have great friendships.
Jason is a douche . He’s a bully really . Confused and angry and just mean. He’s the QB1 at their school and the whole town love him as he follows in his dads footsteps towards stardom. He’s arrogant and has an image to carry – he does have a softer caring side but we only get brief glimpses of it which makes it difficult to like him .
He says “They said heavy was the head that wore the crown. Well my crown was coiled in guilt and shame, and it weighed a fucking ton.” And I wish I saw more of this part of him and I’d probably see what felicity fell in love with .
Felicity is The best friend of hailey who is Jason’s step sister . She’s friendly and sheltered and has spent her high school years being like a wallflower and is using her senior year to break out of her bubble and try new things .
So she is attracted to Jason , and spends a great portion of her book convincing herself that he’s no good and knowing he won’t return her “feelings” and running away from
Him “heartbroken” . he is nothing but mean to her , she doesn’t call him out on it or do anything special to change him yet she falls “in love” and so does he … but what’s never clear to me is what she sees In him … it seems to be a relationship built on pure physical attraction and no real character development except that Jason decides that he is in fact in love and all of a sudden he’s sorry .
I guess I was hoping felicity would come across stronger and call him on his BS and give him some of his own medicine and make him work for it but that doesn’t happen.
The other piece lacking information was thatchers part in the whole story – a lot of the angst was derived from this mystery enemy of Jason’s which we get some answers to towards the end of the story but it’s still not all the clear what happened and WHY that caused this turbulent war between them to get so bad . Or why thatcher wants to ruin Jason to that extreme.
BUT they do find the HEA , the story is written well, like I said the group of characters are fun to read and I love asher and can’t wait to read more about him !!!
