You will love to hate the push and pull between two you will want to slap Jase. Your heart will break for Felicity. Definitely go one click this baby! L.A Cotton did and amazing job telling Jason’s story!
One word: JASE! This book is so good. I had all these crazy expectations going in after the first book in this series, just because Jase is such an ass in The Trouble With You, but The Game You Play exceeded them with flying colors! I love all the characters, the angst, and the twists and turns that evolve through out this story. Flick and Jase are both fantastic in the book, and Cameron, Hailee, and Asher are back, along with a new character or two to add to the drama. If you love Sports Romance, New Adult, or Bully Romance, you will enjoy this one! 5 Stars!
The Game You Played is the second installment of the Rixon Raider Series. It picks up right where the first one ended. This is the book I’ve been waiting for even though Asher my favorite. The story of Jason and Felicity. I couldn’t put this book down. It was a great read with some steamy parts, friends sticking together, and villains making their moves. You finally get to see Jason as a human being in this book instead of a grade A-hole. Felicity character, still sweet and shy as ever. This is a love/hate story that will be having you ask yourself WTH, many times over. You still get to see what’s going on with the rest of the gang so don’t fret I highly recommend reading this series if you haven’t started it yet. I truly enjoy these, when you need a break from something a lot darker.
I received an ARC copy for my honest opinion.
The Rixon Raiders rule the school and the town and Jace is at the top of the tree.
Whilst I admired his focus on achieving his football dreams I didn’t like him at all. He’s not just moody he’s cruel and bitter and takes it out on those around him. So many times I wanted to give him a slap, he infuriated me so much. So how did I find myself hoping the moody little prick got everything he wanted ? It’s all the authors fault, her flawless writing slowly reveals Jace in all his glory and from that moment I was his.
I keep saying this about L.A. Cotton but her storytelling ability just gets better with each new book she releases.
O.M.G.!!!!
First I am not the type of reviewer that recounts the synopsis of the book so I am sorry if that is what you are waiting for here. I am just going to tell you what I think of the book. So here goes!
I was lucky enough to get my grubby little hands on an ARC. How? I don’t know but I am so thankful that I did! I have been waiting for Jason and Felicity’s book since the first book The Trouble With You.
Jason if the BIGGEST jerk! Like I seriously didn’t believe I could like him or root for him in any type of way after the things her did in book one AND some of the things he does and how he acts in this book. BUT L.A. Cotton the brilliant writer that she is makes you love him and understand why he is the way he is. Really I can’t blame him for being a grade A a-hole.
Now Felicity? Love her. Loved her in book one and love her in book two. The only thing that bothered me was that she had issues with standing up for herself and I really would have loved to see that. There were numerous chances for her to and she just never fully went there. Yes she was sarcastic and in a way didn’t let Jason get away with too much but there were other people along with Jason and her parents that I wish she had a bit more of a backbone with. Does that take away from the story?? Hell no! I just didn’t want anyone thinking I was just here blowing smoke.
The other thing that I kind of wanted more of an embellishment on was of the two of the characters that caused a lot of trouble for our H and h and what their punishments were and if they got them. Yes Jason confronted both but I again would have like Flick to have her say with one and I would like to know if any other action was take against the bastards because seriously these two deserve it. But again, with that all being said I LOVED this book!!! I loved the dynamic between the two main characters. I love that we get to see more of Cameron and Hailey!! I love that we get more Asher and we get introduced to a new character that I hope we get to see more of! In short I want more! AKA I can’t wait for Asher’s book!!
If you loved book one (and I can’t see why you wouldn’t) then you are going to love The Game You Play!!
I loved Cameron in the first book but I’m feeling like Felicity. I hate Jason. I hate that I don’t hate him at all. I love him!
LA didn’t disappoint with her second book in the series. She incorporated so much angst, drama, fighting, jealousy and passion into this story. While I wanted to scream at Flick for some of her decisions, I was also proud of her for finally standing up for herself and finding her dream!
