From the bestselling author of the #Lovestruck novels comes a rousing romance about following your dreams, second chances, and playing the game of love.Disgraced college quarterback Logan Hunt was on his way to NFL stardom when he messed up big-time. Now the Texas star player with a bad temper has a new option: Seattle’s EOL College—as in End of the Line, to his fellow misfit recruits. It’s … misfit recruits. It’s Logan’s last chance. If he can follow the rules. No parties, no fighting, no swearing, and oh, no dating the coach’s daughter, Jess. Simple. Yeah, right. For Logan, there has never been a rule he’s more tempted to break.
The deal is “just friends.” The pretty, confident, and fiercely smart math whiz is fine with pizza, tutoring, and keeping Logan in line. But the closer Jess gets, the more receptive she is to his warm heart and spirit—not to mention his irresistible off-field passes. With defenses down, they’re both heading into the danger zone.
It’s more than thrilling. It’s love. It’s also a game changer that could sideline Logan’s NFL goals—and more important, a future with Jess. But dreams are worth fighting for, right?

So my opinion of Mrs Wilson has changed so much since her first books. I could barley read her first series and now I can’t get enough of her books. Her Lovestruck series was brilliant. This one had more snark and more sass. She builds an amazing love story and pulls me in. She knows how to write tension and the build up to the kiss is freaking amazing. If I had any advice for this author it would be to develop the supporting cast. Interaction with other people really can give you great insight into a character and that was all this book lacked. Had some fun laugh out load moments and I know I will get that from her latest books. This is not a book for a young teen. There is alot of talk of sex and being attracted to the opposite sex. I would be ok letting my 17 year old read this. It has some great kisses….if I didn’t already mention that;}
This was a cute and funny coming of age story. The main characters have had rocky pasts that fit the plot well. It makes them endearing and give the story the backbone it needs to make sense. It is a touching story about standing up for what’s right, living in the moment, shaking free of the past, and moving toward the future.
The Friend Zone is my first read by this author and it certainly will not be my last, I really enjoyed this cute sports romance.
Logan thought his football career was over but he is given a second chance but there are rules that go with this opportunity, no drinking, no drugs, no swearing, keep your grades up and definitely no dating and that means the coaches daughter Jess is off limits…….
What follows is a friendship where Logan and Jess have a lot of meetings that are not dates ……this is a fun entertaining sweet sports romance that captivated me from the first page and I’m looking forward to hopefully reading about some of the secondary characters from The Friend Zone.
This book was pretty amazing and had me feeling so many things. The chemistry between the characters was off the charts and kept your attention. The stipulations for the “no swearing” rule will have you laughing out loud many times. It has everything I look for in a great romance novel. I devoured it and couldn’t stop until I was done. she has quite the characters who had very real situations and were well developed. You definitely were rooting for them to end up together once you saw how perfect they were together. A romance novel every should!! It is clean and you can share with your grandma
Logan and Jess love spending time together. What starts as friends going on “non-dates” turns into so much more. They have everything they need right in front of them but won’t acknowledge it. In the end, it all works out and you fall in love all over again after reading their story.
Good book
I grabbed this based on the cover and blurb and was pleasantly surprised. I liked the unique spin on sports romance that Wilson created and the idea of second chances and teaching respect instead of athletic skill was encouraging. Coach’s rules led to entertaining outcomes and the playfulness and chemistry between Logan and Jess drew me in. I couldn’t put this down and look forward to reading more from this author!
Great Dialog, but more character soul searching than story, so it dragged a little.
Could not wait to get my hands on this book. Sports romance, yes please sign me up! I could not get enough of Logan and Jess’s story. They have a friendship and rules to help keep them there. From their witty banter to their relationship you can’t help but hope they end up together. This was a fun fast paced read that I couldn’t put down. I loved every minute of this story.
So, this started out really good, it was a little bit different take on how a coach might act and the rules he might give, but that was pretty good and grabbed me right from the start. I like that Jess was quick to learn how much Ben really wasn’t the right guy, but that she didn’t want to ruin Logan’s chances at getting where he needed and wanted to be with his life. Especially after she learned about his past and what he was really up against. I totally loved Logan’s funny way of making fun of Ben. So many of those little quips had me laughing out loud. And the friendship between Logan and Jess was just perfect, I would love to find a guy to be friends with first, and then see where it went if there was the attraction the two of them had. The mean girl in the story had her own background story that helped to not hate her, mostly, although she still had issues. But you could see where they came from. I also liked the idea of the girls at the party that were there to watch for other girls and make sure they were safe or got help if needed right away. It’s such a great idea I hope all colleges come up with something similar. I think this is going to be part of a series, in which case I’m rooting for Logan’s roommate, Bash, to get the next book!
You just can’t go wrong with Sariah Wilson! Her characters are warm, funny, and leap right off the page as you read. Their romances definitely aren’t cookie cutter, but always satisfy. I absolutely loved Logan and Jess together, and I bet you will too. Pick it up. It’s sure to have you smiling the whole way through 🙂
I pre-ordered this book, about a month and a half ago. I could have posted a review the next day but at the time I couldn’t find the words to express how wonderful this book is. I am the type of person that as soon as I finish a book I will start on another book, on occasion I may read it again, but the really good ones I don’t want to leave. I have had this happen with Amy Matayo’s End of the World, Suzanne Collins Hunger Games trilogy and now I add The Friend Zone.
This is the story of Jess (don’t call her Jessica) and Logan. She picks Logan up to drop him off at the college she goes to and where her dad coaches football. This is his last chance to go to college where he will have a scholarship and play football. Playing there comes with specific rules for all of the players, no drinking, drugs, swearing, dating, but the biggest rule of all is no dating the coaches daughter.
Logan is needs a math tutor and is assigned to Jess, he doesn’t like owing anyone anything so when he finds out she has a crush on Ben ( a fellow math tutor) he offers to help her get him. I loved all of the nicknames he gave Ben, they were hilarious.
Jess and Logan had both been through experiences that affected their lives. Jess, a horrible experience at a former school, and Logan growing up with problems involving his mother and step father. It was so cool watching them let each other into one another’s lives and grow, watching them try not to fall in love because of fear of Logan getting kicked out of college.
There was so many little things that were funny like emotional-support milk, Ben’s nicknames, putt-putt game and Bash. Bash is Logan’s roommate and because of the no swearing rule he has to come up with non swear words and he has such a great imagination. I hope he is the subject of the second book, he deserves it!
This is a clean read, with no cursing! Swoony moments include some very HOT kissing scenes, but nothing beyond that. Totally proves you can have a heart pounding, swoony book without the smut and cursing!
I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!! Please Sariah Wilson tell Bash’s story next!!!! Lol
A clean romance but with a lot of chemistry. I love Sariah Wilson’s books and I am always looking forward to the next new one.
Having enjoyed past stories by this author I looked forward to reading this one. Even though it’s NA and not even remotely as steamy as what I typically read, I really did enjoy this story. The connection between Logan and Jess was immediate and they both tried extremely hard not to break the “rules”.
There were also a lot of witty, laugh out loud moments as Logan helps Jess win who she thinks is the man of her dreams. It was enjoyable watching Logan grow as a man throughout the story and put his past behind him. Great secondary characters such as Bash rounded this story out. Very enjoyable story!
Romace, clean; can’t wait to read the others in this series!! OH MY GOODNESS
Logan and Jess’s story is told from alternating points of view. It was so fun to see both sides of the romance through their own eyes. There story is such a great read. S.W. has sass, snark, tender moments, honest hurts and hungers, the wanting and warring hearts down so well. It is just so easy to get swirled into her novels, and this is no exception.
Logan’s desire to get away from his past, to be a different person than he was, and beat the history and place he came from that was full of neglect and hunger, to take this second chance and be a player with integrity and honor, keeping the commitments he made initially just to keep his nose clean and stay on the team, but later as a matter of character. His heart-wrenching story, his fight to stay on the right side of his promise, and then choosing his heart home as his priority in his life, it was just a wonderful, magical read (sorry… seeing the unicorns and stars and romantic music and flowers just writing about this one). I always say, I loved the most recent book I have read by S.W. best, but she always creates a masterful story that pulls at your heartstrings and makes you want more. She is the master of the Cinderella Story of many varieties of retelling and this is another good one.
Loved the few cameos from her previous novel of Evan Awesome Dawson (#Awestruck), and his role in this one. I knew when I read the blurb about the situation that this was the coach that was mentioned in that novel. I am a fan! Always a pleasure to be gifted a review copy from the publisher via NetGalley to read for her. My opinions are my own, but I do have some bias. Her works are the best fix!
The Friend Zone by Sariah Wilson is a fantastic read. It is a sweet romance that made me feel all the feels. I absolutely loved this story. I laughed, I cried. I loved Jessica and Logan.
Logan’s got one last chance to play football. He’s come all the way to Washington to take advantage of his scholarship and finish his degree. Nothing is going to get in the way. Even his new coach’s ridiculous rules -the one that includes no dating may be the hardest, but Logan’s got his eyes on the prize.
That is… until he meets Jessica.
Being “just friends” proves to be harder than he could ever expect.
I devoured this story. When I was forced to put the book down – I thought about it until I could return to the world Sariah Wilson created. I love the side characters and would love to see more stories from this world in the future. (Like Bash and Ford – they definitely piqued my interest.) I can’t wait to see what Sariah Wilson writes next!
The Friend Zone was a sweet and slow burn of a romance. The chemistry between Logan and Jess was instantaneous, but due to her father’s (and his coach’s) rules, dating was off limits. So the two decided to try friendship. But the heart wants what the heart wants.
I loved watching these two fall for each other. They both deserved so much to find their happy ever after everything that has happened to them.
To be “friend zoned”. what a joke when both parties feel the chemistry pull! This is a fun read with some emotional pulls too. Logan has one last chance to play in front of the NFL scouts-follow the rules, keep your nose clean, transferring to EOL was his last shot. He’s determined to follow the rules, his future is riding on it. Problem: the coach’s daughter, the ultimate number one NO. He was ready for Jess or their clicking into sync. Jess knew she shouldn’t find Logan attractive, she already has a crush on someone else, friends should be easy , right? Overprotective father, unplanned kisses, and big decisions makes this an engaging read.
This was such a sweet story. Tragedy has made Jess wary of guys. She’s just starting to take an interest in dating, but the object of her crush doesn’t seem to know she exists. Enter Logan. New quarterback for the football team. He has his own set of rules. Coach says no dating. No girls.
No problem. He and Jess can be friends while he helps her gain the interest of her crush, right?
I think you know where this is going. But I loved Logan and Jess’s dynamic. It doesn’t hurt that their chemistry is off the charts. Logan is hilarious with his cutting jokes towards Jess’s crush, Ben.
I laughed. I even shed a few tears in the end. 5 stars!!!
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher.
Sometimes in life people aren’t dealt a good hand. It truly takes hard work and determination to pull themselves out of the dark and into the light. Logan Hunt is one such character. His life as a kid wasn’t the greatest. It was a dark time in his life and all he had was football to help with the aggression he felt towards life.
His last chance to make something of himself he joined a football team that had the potential to send him to the NFL. The problem is Coach has a strict set of rules. No dating being one of them. Especially his daughter, Jess.
Jess happens to be Logan’s math tutor. Y’all can guess what happens when you spend a lot of time with someone right? These two are so funny together and they compliment one another very well. Jess has her sights on someone else though, and because of Coach’s rules Logan can’t even go there with Jess. Friend Zone it is.
I enjoyed reading this contemporary romance. These two characters definitely had a hard time in a few stretches of their lives. Now it’s up to them to make smart choices and see where it takes them. You’ll be rooting for their relationship the whole book!
The Friend Zone is the first book I have read by Saraih Wilson and I can hand on heart say I loved every minute of it. It’s a real slow burner, but the chemistry is there from the outset. Even fromLogan and Jess’s first meeting. The were spellbound by one another and drew me in, from the very first sentence until the last whispered endearment.
Logan has been picked up by a last chance saloon college football team, due to him being dropped by his university.
Now, he has to live by the rules or he’s out on his ear.
One rule is no girlfriends and that seemed easy at first until he started to want more than a simple friendship with Jess.
Watching how they navigated these stressful and sexy waters was one of my most enjoyable reading experiences this year. Definitely a contender for best book 2019 and that’s saying something.
These two will give you all the feels, from laughter to tears. Hugs and kisses await you.
