Set aside your routine chores for this one. You won’t even want to stop for meals. Very realistic about the underworld workings among the French, Germans, and Jews in Paris during WWII. Well written with just enough twists to kept you wondering.
A great read.
This is a book written as a story told between two women who loved the same man.
As one questions and the other answers, a powerful story unfolds.
I’ve read many WWii war bride stories but this is a uniquely written and hard to put down.
Loved it. Easy to read and good love story with interest to the end
One of the best books I have ever read.

Really enjoyed this book.
This is one of the few books that I’ve liked well enough to recommend.
love the book
Loved every minute. The concept of telling a love story by 70 year old women was brilliant.
This book was a great read.
Excellent book! The characters were very well written. Highly recommend!
I loved the twist on the story of a war bride .
I really enjoyed this book.
Thought provoking and informative.
Couldn’t put in down.
The story begins when a very elderly French woman, living in a retirement home in Wedding Tree, LA, receives an unexpected visitor. The visitor, a hospice patient, has come to learn the reason that the man she had planned to marry decades earlier, married the French woman instead. The first half of the book gets into the historical atmosphere of Nazi-occupied Paris in which the French woman — in a desperate situation — sets her sights on an American army doctor. From there, the setting moves to the US where the storytelling focuses on the couple and their situation. I enjoyed the storytelling in this book as much I did in The Wedding Tree. Although I read them in sequence, it’s really not necessary as the only common denominator is the location.
I don’t usually read historical romance, but I really enjoyed this, especially how it went back and forth in time. I loved the two women characters who you told their side of the story
enjoyed this book !!
I like any book —be it historical or fiction—-when it involves WWI or WWII—-this book was fictional but had enough truth to make it interesting—-
