I read the whole series in 2 days! I couldn’t put it down! Fell in love with Vee (The Fifth) and her four Horsemen: Xander, Heath, Joss & Ewan! OMG! Great reverse-harem story line! Erotic, but not nasty. Y’all just gotta read it! Oh, and the short stories, too, if y’all wanna know how they celebrate “human” traditions! Ha! Happy Reading! =D
I read this series awhile back and I loved it. I thought the whole idea of the story was original and exciting.
I really had a difficult time reading this. Vee was such a frustrating character to get into. You add four (of course) gorgeous guys who none of them can resist the same girl. They all want her and have no control over it. I guess it just felt a tad over the top with it. The way it was written is easy to read and understand. It was just the feeling smothered with I can’t resist you, but wait I must kiss him stuff.
I started to say this was the first book I’ve read of this author, but it turns out I did read another “series” of hers and had issues with it, so that explains a lot. I bought this as a boxed set during a promotion and thought it would be an interesting new concept I hadn’t read yet. Some of the difficulty I had with reading this story is from the difference between US and UK English; but the majority of my issues were from editing. It goes beyond just having an extra “u” in a word. There were times that there were commas followed by periods. This book was published almost two years ago. I would have expected some small updates on such errors. Also, as with any new series, there is a lot of confusion as the story develops. The concept of the Four Horsemen was intriguing as well as finding their “Fifth” to complete their group; however, after the first 1/3rd of the book, if I had stopped and rated it, I would have given it two stars. The way the Horsemen were presented just didn’t captivate me as much as the concept did.
After the action started, the story improved. The book shaped up to look like a reverse harem which isn’t usually my thing, but I’ll continue for now since I’ve already purchased the other books. There is no sex (yet) although there is plenty of sexual frustration. I wish there were more descriptions for her magical beings though. For instance, when I hear “fae”, I imagine wings, elven features, etc. Not just violet eyes & abstract hair colors. Her explanations aren’t enough to bridge the gap between her supernatural beings and others in her genre.
Oh WOW!!! I was pulled in from the beginning! Fabulous paranormal/fantasy world, I absolutely love this series of books, the action starts slowly and builds, The characters are well defined early on and blossom throughout the series, you can feel the tension building between the main characters early in the series which develop wonderfully as each book progresses. Very well written storey. There are no cliff hangers as such but each book always leaves you wanting more so be warned though once you start reading this series you won’t be able to put the books down so be prepared for some binge reading.
I loved the premise of this and was hooked right away. This is a unique take on the Four Horsemen; they aren’t there to start the apocalypse and there’s a surprise fifth.
I love how the author unravels the story and develops the characters. All of the Horsemen have they’re own distinct personalities and looks, its great to see them all interact with each other, and I love that there’s added head butting between them. I really enjoyed that the book is mainly in Vee’s POV but with some from the men here and there; it gives great insight to all sides. I’m really looking forward to reading more about all of them
I love this book, and this whole series. I read Legacy a few months ago, and it’s what introduced me to RH fiction. I’ve since voraciously read the whole series, what’s available of Syv’s story, and a few other LJ Swallow novels. I’m a big fan of when authors take myths or legends and twist them. So this series and Huntress are favourites of mine. I personally love the characters in TFH, and how they grow. I don’t think it’s hard to get invested in them. My only complaint is more about the first part of this series, rather than just this book, and it’s that I found the books on the short side. When I say I voraciously read them, I mean I read the first four in a day. Definitely by Reckoning it was sorted, but the first few books felt a little like you were just getting your teeth in and they were over.
As for just this book, it’s a definite must read. You won’t want it to stop, so make sure you get all the others, now that it’s a complete set. And make sure you have a weekend free.
– LJ Swallow is a new author to me and this is the first book I’ve read by her. I’m so glad I found her because Legacy was a great read. This is the first reverse harem book I’ve read and I can see why Vee is tempted, she has 4 hot guys who want her.
The Four Horsemen are not what you think and not what you have been told in other stories. I really liked the authors play on the four guys and their powers. I’m interested to learn more about Vee’s powers so I’m on to the second book.

A great start to this new Reverse Harem series. So excited for book 2. Thank God I do not have to wait so long – it releases next month!
Such a fantastic start to this brand new series. From page 1, I was immediately hooked. I couldn’t stop reading until I was done. Such a fast-paced, compelling and sexy read full of hot men, a strong heroine and supernatural creatures.
I really loved the twist on the Four Horsemen story. Rather than them bringing the apocalypse, they… well, you have to read to find out!
