I read this book on the recommendation of a friend. I don’t think I liked the book as much as she did. I sometimes found the book hard to follow. There were many roles that could almost be called interchangeable. It was an interesting story, but sad at the same time. The main character had been locked away in an insane asylum because she had …
I’ve read this book twice. I found myself thinking about the story for months. Reading it a second time was just as enjoyable. It’s one of those books that you get lost in and feel like you are in the story.
one of my all time favorites. A past /present that keeps you reading and is so believable. Have recommended it to so many people and they all loved it! Not one disappointed. Definitely should be on your to read list!!!
This was a very interesting book and I’m glad my sister recommended it! It was a little slow at first, but picked up after awhile and I loved reading this. It had some twists to the story and if you enjoy sewing or quilting, this is a must read!
What a book! What a story! How possible is the premise of this amazing story! Historical fiction at its best!!!
A haunting look back at Brittan’s mental health system and a study of a woman that survived in spite of it. A beautiful testament to the strength of love from one generation to the next. Quilters and historic fans will enjoy this book.
I enjoyed The Forgotten Seamstress. The story is told by two characters whose voices are engaging and believable. I particularly enjoy a modern voice that researches an historical voice as the historical voice tells the story. My review doesn’t do justice to this book. The story is almost unbelievable but the two narrators are convincing and I …
I liked this story, a lot, for three-quarters of the book. But then it became predictable and the details about the quilt became monotonous. I did enjoy it, though. Just not enough to recommend it to my book club.
I have read this book twice. I do find this believable with the way women were thought of in the early 1900’s. I recommend this book
Compelling story overall! I really enjoyed the book. Didn’t love it but enjoyed it. I was a little disappointed by the ending but it still wrapped up the story well. I just wanted more. But it’s okay. It was a well written and interesting story. I really liked the present day characters.
I am a fabric geek, so I liked that aspect of the book, but it is a great historical novel about difficult truths.
Amazingly believable even though it’s fiction. So historically based and wonderful for anyone who appreciates the history and charm of quilt making.
Well written and very touching.
I enjoyed the read. Nice light reading. Nice flow.
So different, interesting story.
Well-written with interesting characters and an absorbing plot. A winner for me.
Very interesting characters from start to finish.
Held my attention, made me want to read.
