In an elite suburb of New York City, girls are dying. That doesn’t happen in Greenvale, with its immaculate lawns, exclusive yacht clubs and multi-million dollar mansions. But behind its perfect façade, its trimmed hedges and luxury cars, a darkness lies. Girls, dependent on Adderall, outmaneuver each other to get into top colleges, while the mothers’ need to live vicariously only makes it worse.… worse.
Bella DeFranco is one of the Bronx’s top SVU detectives. At only 37, she disarms everyone with her stunning good looks, yet she is as tough as most men—and a lot smarter, too. Yet when is summoned to Greenvale, she finds herself getting lost in a case that even she can’t comprehend. She stumbles into a land of secrets, a place where husbands hide their pasts from their wives, where friends are not what they seem, and where no one wants to know too much. As she digs deeper into layers of suburban dysfunction, she comes to learn that, behind all the fake smiles, there is a subtle violence–rivaling even her crime-ridden streets of the Bronx.
With a killer on the loose, time running out, and a new partner who never recovered from his washed-up alcoholic days, the odds are stacked against Bella. She is determined, though, to save these girls, whatever the cost. Yet as she gets close, the depth of psychosis she discovers shocks even her….

So many sections called me to read again & again…to absorb the perfectly selected words. Perfectly captured. So worthwhile!
a great read
Had problem guessing the bad guy. That’s good. This is probably close to the truth about the elite. So, it is kind of unsettling.
The book is somewhat real, these things do happen. Sad, a good read.
Easy to read ,twisted plot really enjoy e this book
This book was truly excellent. I enjoyed the characters and the story line. I would absolutely recommend it and any others written by this author. The main character was perfectly imperfect and damn good at her job.
Couldn’t put this book down! I recommend it.
Just loved it. I felt as if I knew some of the characters!
Liked the snappy repartee between characters. Definitely a creeper.
Actually, between 3 and 4 stars. Not quite a 4, but a little better than average. I did find the protagonists interesting. I would read another book by this author. She shows great potential.
It started great, I was enjoying it then it was done. The story lead up to an exciting case but it just ended w/o much fanfare. I’d read the rest of the series, hopefully there will be as much thought in the final solving of the case as there was leading up to it.
I read this…book before last and don’t remember the plot!?
See above.
A great page-turner. Interesting characters and extremely well written.
It was so good I had to buy the rest of the series right away
This book had many twists and turns an was very intriguing.
I was in suspense all the time I can’t stop reading.
It was a page turner for me and I will read others by this author.
This book has an intriguing plot that may ring too close to real for those with teenagers living in affluent areas. But for the rest of us, it’s a plot full of twists and turns that often takes the reader right to the brink of credibility, only to provide supportive insights and information that (unfortunately) makes it glaringly real.

I love this book! Kept me interested with interesting characters and twists. Very hard to put down..
