‘WOW!!!… Kept me constantly turning the pages and on the edge of my seat.’ NetGalley reviewer, 5 stars
Eleven years ago, Holly’s brother disappeared and his girlfriend was killed.
Holly has tried her best to forget the traumatic events of her past, turning her back on her crime boss father and making a new life for herself and her son away from the notorious Seaview Estate. But when she’s … notorious Seaview Estate. But when she’s involved in a car accident and regains consciousness to find a strange child on the backseat, she’s drawn back into everything she’s been trying to escape from.
Who is the child and where did he come from?
Already struggling to deal with her volatile ex-husband, Holly now finds herself haunted by long-buried secrets too. She has spent years trying to get away from the estate, but someone will stop at nothing to get her to return.
As events that began eleven years ago come to a head, Holly is forced once again to fight for her life… and her son’s.
Perfect for fans of Mel Sherratt, Jessie Keane and Martina Cole, The Forgotten Child will have you on the edge of your seat until the very last page!

Life altering circumstances with mysteries and hidden villians.
A little drawn out.
I liked this book and there were a lot of twists and turns to the story. I had never read anything by this author but will look for more of their books.
Hard to keep up with the twists and turns of the story. Always wondered who done it
The Forgotten Child took me longer to read than most books I have read because there wasn’t any “I can’t put it down” motivation for me. The first quarter brought in a slew of characters, and it was hard to keep history and people straight. Holly soon appeared to be the main character in the book and her background was full of gang activities and fights. Holly has escaped from that life and moved on to better herself, and this all changes by a string of events and then a horrific happening. I respect the way White has written Holly because she isn’t written doing stupid, questionable things, and she turns out to be quite an admirable woman. It is fast-paced and the story will hold interest, but not with the craving to keep reading.
This story really kept me guessing….wonderful mystery and I would absolutely recommend it!!!!!
It had me twisting and turning as to what was really happening! I did not want to put it down.
A Little too violent for me, but great fun for British crime aficionados.
Holly is running. Several years ago her brother disappeared and his girlfriend were murdered. Was this the doing of her father … a crime boss? She’s making new life for herself and her young son… away from the family she’s grown to hate and fear.
When she becomes involved in an auto accident, she finds that her child is not in the back seat … her child has been replaced by a child she’s never seen.
She has spent years trying to escape her past .. evidently someone will go whatever it takes to lead her back. Her abusive husband? Her crime-ridden family? And where is her son?
This was a bit of a slow starter … with many characters being introduced. There are plenty of twists and turns leading to a conclusion that wasn’t quite unpredictable. This was not the author’s best … but it won’t keep me from reading her again.
Many thanks to the author / HQ Digital / Netgalley for the digital copy of this psychological fiction. Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.
I liked the story itself BUT for me, there was too much effort devoted to the “mafia” side of it.
I thought this book had a very good storyline. Very interesting. Maybe I’m old fashioned, but I think authors should be able to express themselves without using filthy language. As I said it was a great storyline, but because there was an f-word in almost every paragraph, I will not knowingly buy this author again.
a little slow moving at first.
Couldn’t put it down
couldn’t put it down
Great read, I couldn’t put it down.

My Review
I found this story to be very boring and the characters unlikable. I could not connect with any of the characters. The story was more Organized crime not psychological thriller. If you like crime/ mob/ human trafficking type stories then this book is good for you. The blurt sounded really good but it is not what the book is really about. I found it to be quite misleading. This novel is REALLY about Holly and how she can’t lose her connection to organised crime. Not about Holly regaining consciousness after a car crash and finding a random child in her car. Even though this happens in first chapter of the book , and we find out who the child is pretty quick. Then the rest of the book is all about Holly and her connection to organized crime. Which is not something I have an interest in. Had they been more honest in the description of this book and the title of the book it would have gave readers more of an idea what they would have been reading and probably less bad reviews.
The author also switched from past to present in such a way it was not easy to follow. There is also ALOT of characters to keep up with in the two crime families so get a notebook ready. It would have been more better if the anonymous child was more of a feature of the story like the blurb states. I wanted to read this book on the basis of the blurb. Sadly the two do not match up. This just is not my type of book. Thank you netgalley , the author , and the publisher for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
