What if your roommate is your soul mate? A joyful, quirky romantic comedy, Beth O’Leary’s The Flatshare is a feel-good novel about finding love in the most unexpected of ways.Tiffy and Leon share an apartment. Tiffy and Leon have never met. After a bad breakup, Tiffy Moore needs a place to live. Fast. And cheap. But the apartments in her budget have her wondering if astonishingly colored mold on … her wondering if astonishingly colored mold on the walls counts as art.
Desperation makes her open minded, so she answers an ad for a flatshare. Leon, a night shift worker, will take the apartment during the day, and Tiffy can have it nights and weekends. He’ll only ever be there when she’s at the office. In fact, they’ll never even have to meet.
Tiffy and Leon start writing each other notes – first about what day is garbage day, and politely establishing what leftovers are up for grabs, and the evergreen question of whether the toilet seat should stay up or down. Even though they are opposites, they soon become friends. And then maybe more.
But falling in love with your roommate is probably a terrible idea…especially if you’ve never met.

Took me a few starts. So glad I kept going back. A good listen, but do feel it kind of glossed over some very difficult issues in ways that seemed a bit trite. Overall a sweet HEA and as fiction it isn’t the authors job to save or teach, but even a blurb at the end about how to get help, get out or take care of yourself would have been a nice addition.
Great light read. Will buy authors other books. Inventive and drew me in right away.
I could not even finish this book. I really did try. I got through about a quarter of the book and gave up. I simply did not care about any of the characters.
I loved the humor within this book. The plot was rich with easily relatable events and the character build was strong. You could see yourself and/or your friends in the story and I was engaged throughout.
Different way of telling the story and at first I found it hard to follow as to who was saying what, and it was a little slow starting. But as I got more into the book, I understood that the writing in the beginning was necessary to understand where both of them were coming from. It was interesting to see how the characters developed and very well done. There was the back story of her relationship with her ex and how he was stalking her…another story about his brother being jail for a crime he didn’t commit…another one with his job at a hospice…another one with her job as an editor…and then the big one of how their relationship changed and then matured. Very well written with the way all these little stories all meshed together.
Just an absolute delight, warm and fun. I was sad when I finished it!
A lovely light contemporary romance with a unique premise and fully formed characters. I fell in love with Tiffy and Leon while reading.
I can’t say enough good things about this book.
The perfect rom-com – great characters, a storyline that allowed the Tiffy and Leon to develop beyond just their romance, lots of laughs: a lovely, heartwarming read.
I listened to the audiobook of this novel, narrated by Carrie Hope Fletcher and Kwaku Fortune, who both did a wonderful job. I very, very, rarely read or listen to contemporary romance but this one caught me up at once. It’s a bit of a slow burn, but enjoyably so and both Leon and Tiffy are lovable, imperfect characters. Highly recommend.
I liked the character Tiffy but when Leon’s chapters took over it was like it was written by a different author, very stinted sentences that didn’t really make any sense. Really disappointed.
This was such an adorable book to read. I loved the characters and loved how they left notes for each other in their shared flat. I was so excited when they finally met. This had all the feels. Loved it.
This was the most fun I’ve had with a book in a good long while. The Flatshare is the perfect antidote to everything grim in the world right now. (I’d been trying to read 1984 for a few weeks, and while I do intend to finish it at some point, it’s just too bleak for right now!) It’s a love story, it’s quirky and funny, it’s emotional and well-written, and the dialogue is sharp, hilarious, and so well-timed. I loved, loved this story and these completely adorable characters.
*A caveat–it’s not what you’d call a “clean read.” It does contain language and adult situations, so if you choose to read it, know that going in. There’s a lot more than just that though.*

This is the first book I have read from this author. The Flatshare has a very beautiful cover.

: I had a blast reading this book. We follow Tiffy who after dealing with a bad breakup needs an inexpensive place to live at. Leon is looking for a flatmate. Tiffy will have the flat on nights and weekends, while Leon will have it during the day. I thought this book was well written. The romance that ensues in this book was a joy to read. The ending was something you would have seen in a Hallmark movie. I did laugh quite a few times while reading this book. I definitely want to read more books by this author. I recommend this book to anyone wanting a well written rom com that will melt your heart and make you laugh.

I thought that this book was a fantastic read, I picked it up on a recommendation and I am so glad that I did.
The characters Tiffy and Leon had me laughing out loud and even crying at times.
A great story that all of us can relate to in some way, the characters are not only believable and well written, but they also get under your skin and it soon feels like you are right there with them and have known each other for years.
A real page-turner, I couldn’t put it down, Beth O’Leary really knows how to work a cliff hanger! I will definitely be reading more of her work in the future.
Absolutely loved this book. Read it because I saw it all over Insta with people raving about it. You always worry about a hyped up book not living up to expectations but I devoured this book. Tiffy and Leon are so loveable. Every character written about is so well done that you can picture them completely in your mind. Recommend to all chick lit lovers
This one is sooo sweet. Just read this one, people, trust me, just read it.
I absolutely loved this story about the quirky editor, Tiffy, who is getting over a break-up with her long-time boyfriend, Justin, and needs a new place to live. She sees an ad for a flatshare with Leon, a palliative care nurse. Leon works nights, is away for weekends with his girlfriend, Kay, so they will never be in the flat at the same time.
They start a friendship by leaving notes for each other, and making observations about each other’s habits. Tiffy is over-the-top, and Leon is quiet and reserved.
There are a few stories here-Richie, Leon’s brother, is in jail for a crime he didn’t commit. Leon’s patients care for Leon, and vice-versa. Leon tries to find the love of Mr. Prior’s life-a love that was forbidden during WWII. There is also a storyline about abusive and controlling relationships.
This was an enjoyable, sweet story about a couple who build upon a strong friendship. Adorable.
