Abby Callier is more in love with Shakespearean heroes than any real man, and she’s beginning to wonder if there is life for her outside the pages of a book. It doesn’t help that her esteemed parents tend to view her as they would one of their science experiments gone wrong. On the eve of finishing her dissertation, she escapes her staid existence to live in the house she inherited from her Great … Great Aunt Evie in the small town of Echo Springs, Colorado. Because, let’s face it, when a woman starts comparing her life to horror films, it might be time for a break.
Sheriff Nate Barnes believes in law and order and carefully building the life you want. In his spare time, he has been remodeling his house in the hope that one day it will be filled with the family he makes. But Nate doesn’t like drama or complications and tends to avoid them at all costs. And yet, when Miss Abigail Callier, his newest neighbor, beans him with a nine iron, he can’t help but wonder if she might just be the complication he’s been searching for all along. It doesn’t hurt that he’s discovered a journal hidden away by the previous tenant, and decides to use Old Man Turner’s advice to romance Abby into his life.
Abby never expected her next-door neighbor, the newly dubbed Sheriff Stud Muffin, to be just the distraction her world needed. The problem is she doesn’t know whether she should make Echo Springs her home, or if this town is just a stopover point in her life’s trajectory. And she doesn’t want to tell Nate that she might not be sticking around – even though she should, because it’s the right thing to do, the honest thing – because then all the scintillatingly hot kisses with the Sheriff will come to an abrupt halt. Did she mention that he’s a really great kisser?

I enjoyed this story a lot. It had a lot of steam and humor. Abby was an independent woman, trying to get her life on track her way. Nate changed that path, although it took a while for her to realize it. I loved Nate and Abby as a couple and enjoyed their friends. This was a fun read, and I look forward to the next in the series. I recommend this story.
I received a copy of this story through Goddess Fish Promotions, and this is my unsolicited review.
This is a contemporary romance and at first, I would have labeled it a cozy. It’s in a small town named Echo Springs. The main character has inherited an old home from her Grand aunt. It has a handsome sheriff who happens to live right next door to Abby, the main character. But there’s no dead body and the sheriff only has to worry about a few break-ins and… it’s much steamier than your everyday cozy. It is definitely a romance.
I am not a fan of the romance genre. It’s just not my thing. However, I don’t mind a little bit of sweet romance in a book. We all fall in love at one time or another. But this just seemed as if Abby loved Nate’s abs and his neat ass over and over again. Their every look was burning and intense. I got tired of reading it. I really did. To me this seemed to be the plot of the story. Nate’s never been involved with anyone in Echo Springs; not good for his image. Abby really expected this to be a temporary place for her to finish her PhD. These thoughts went on and on and then they were in bed again, explicitly in bed again. There really was not much else to this story.
4 Stars
Abby and Nate’s story is sweet, hot and full of laughs. Small town life is different than Abby expected. The sexy sheriff and newfound friends make her realize, sometimes what you think you want, and what actually makes you happy, are not the same things. Throughout the book Abby and Nate grow together while trying their best to live in the moment. Add in a lovable dog and this book will make you smile, laugh and give you all the feels you want.

When Abby arrives in town to clean out her great aunt Evie’s home and settle her estate, she hardly expects to be invaded about the sheriff the first night. Their attraction is dynamite and before long they come together. The problem is Abby will be heading back to her job soon and leaving him behind. This is a good read, steamy and romantic.

Nate and Abby are intriguing characters. He likes order and normalcy where as Abby is anything but. Love the story. Nice, entertaining and enjoyable romance with all “trimmings “.
They fall in love and they are not ready to admit that. She had to move to take over her beloved aunt house, he lives next door.
She has two girlfriends who have her back and have a vine and chocolate while supporting each other.
Dialogues with his dog will make you laugh.
