The plot thickens as you are thrown into one gun/knife/whatever fight after another. Never stops. There is a point to all the violence, according to the main character, which is to find a peaceful life. Several strong intelligent women characters who fight hard and live. But he rejects love possibilities, even a colleague, until he …. can’t do a closing spoiler. The end prompts many story lines that may appear in the next book. And I am ok with that.
Very entertaining; first mystery that I’ve read that include bicycle racing team as one way to help with the gang probem. Interesting approach.
excellent
Very wordy in sections. Can be hard to read – tedious, in fact – if you read every single word.
Story line & characters are ok but how it’s put together is odd.
good read!
Interesting though a little far fetched. Good character study but characters fit into story line a little too easily. Abilities were too forced. Good read if you take alot for granted.
This is a great book, and apparently the first in a series. I’m watching for the next one. The author does a very good job at developing his characters and the world they live in. The plot has some twists that keep you guessing, and enough action to keep you turning pages until way too late at night. Recommended!
Carpenter did a good job of keeping JC Bannister and everyone else around him busy throughout the story. I would recommend this book to anybody who likes hard action writing.
Good read.
Starts slow but picks up and is a good read.
I enjoyed the writing, the intrigue and the fast paced action. Exactly my kind of book!
Great read, highly recommend
Loved it a great read. Will definitely read more by this author.
Kept me spellbound
makes you want to read more
Great book, one of my favorite new authors
Apparently a novelized version of a TV series. Each chapter (more or less) leaves you with a cliff hanger. The structure is very episodic. The hero, tied to the railroad tracks with the train coming around the bend is always rescued by the miraculous appearance of his team-mates. It gets very tiresome.
it was a enjoyable book
I’m not sure I understand the good reviews of this book. I want the part of my life back that I spent reading it.
The core premise of the book was ridiculous. I won’t be a spoiler and discuss the plot line, but it was totally unbelievable. On top of that, the author found it necessary to heap one unbelievable scene after another, and for what, I’m not exactly sure.
Looking at Rex’s bio, he seems like a terrific guy. He probably needs to find a creative writing 101 course and sign up however.
Sorry Rex.
I thought it was kinda dry.
