In this “perfect ‘fix’ for the thriller aficionado” (Associated Press) and #1 New York Times bestseller, maverick FBI detective Amos Decker must forge an uneasy alliance with the Defense Intelligence Agency to prevent an international incident that could spell the end of the United States as we know it. Amos Decker witnesses a murder just outside FBI headquarters. A man shoots a woman … A man shoots a woman execution-style on a crowded sidewalk, then turns the gun on himself.
Even with Decker’s extraordinary powers of observation and deduction, the killing is baffling. Decker and his team can find absolutely no connection between the shooter–a family man with a successful consulting business–and his victim, a schoolteacher. Nor is there a hint of any possible motive for the attack.
Enter Harper Brown. An agent of the Defense Intelligence Agency, she orders Decker to back off the case. The murder is part of an open DIA investigation, one so classified that Decker and his team aren’t cleared for it.
But they learn that the DIA believes solving the murder is now a matter of urgent national security. Critical information may have been leaked to a hostile government–or worse, an international terrorist group–and an attack may be imminent.
Decker’s never been one to follow the rules, especially with the stakes so high. Forced into an uneasy alliance with Agent Brown, Decker remains laser focused on only one goal: solving the case before it’s too late.

The fourth book in the Amos Decker Memory Man Series. Great series.
A book in the Memory Man series. Totally unpredictable and keeps you reading to find out what happens next.
This series is a lot of fun to read. Very entertaining and exciting.
This was the best in the “Memory Man” series and I thoroughly enjoyed reading it.
Very suspenseful, hard to put down. All of Baldacci’s books are very well written and entertaining.
Baldacci builds intrigue from the very beginning while showing behind the veil of two federal agencies’ investigations. He shows insight into character’s thoughts as things unfold. He drops hints keeping you turning the next page and building suspense for an unpredictable ending.
“The Fix ” by David Baldacci
audio book borrowed from by local Library … read while driving about in the car.
Loved the story.. sometimes it was tough when I arrived at a destination and needed to shut the car off and thus interrupt the story by shutting down the disc player. So glad I found this at my local library … must return it tomorrow and see what I can find to read next. I do like this author’s suspense stories. Maybe the library has the book#4 !!
love the amos decker character
another Baldacci page turner. Do not read this book at bedtime if you have to get up in the morning. At least. I couldn’t put it down!
I love all of his books!! So involved, I get!
This book is from the series of Amos Decker, the memory man, written by David Baldacci. I’ve gotten to know the characters who are true to life and have experienced ups and downs like everyone does. You won’t want to put it down.
I really enjoy David Baldacci’s books. Amos Decker is an acquired taste because he doesn’t relate well to others but his friends and co-workers are fiercely loyal and together they make a great team solving cold cases, and now, trying to thwart espionage rings. His perfect recall and ability to sort out the facts that just don’t fit make him an invaluable member of the team.
Amos Decker is a very different kind of character which makes this series very unique.
always love to read and read again
Wow! What can I say about this latest book about Amos Decker. I was so engrossed in the book that I had a hard time putting it down. David Baldacci has always been one of my favorite thriller writer. Each new book I read is just as good, or better than the previous one. I really enjoy reading about Amos and his friends. He’s focused on getting to the truth. His altered brain from the concussion makes for some funny scenes between Amos and others, along with his dry wit. This book definitely had me completely hooked until the very end. It was so interesting to see the way the story was woven to keep the reader interested. Looking forward to Decker’s next story.
