The phenomenal #1 New York Times bestseller that has sold more than eight million copiesEddie is a grizzled war veteran who feels trapped in a meaningless life of fixing rides at a seaside amusement park. His days are a dull routine of work, loneliness, and regret. Then, on his 83rd birthday, Eddie dies in a tragic accident, trying to save a little girl from a falling cart. He awakens in the … falling cart. He awakens in the afterlife, where he learns that heaven is not a lush Garden of Eden, but a place where your earthly life is explained to you by five people. These people may have been loved ones or distant strangers. Yet each of them changed your path forever.
One by one, Eddie’s five people illuminate the unseen connections of his earthly life. As the story builds to its stunning conclusion, Eddie desperately seeks redemption in the still-unknown last act of his life: Was it a heroic success or a devastating failure The answer, which comes from the most unlikely of sources, is as inspirational as a glimpse of heaven itself.
In The Five People You Meet in Heaven, Mitch Albom gives us an astoundingly original story that will change everything you’ve ever thought about the afterlife — and the meaning of our lives here on earth. This is a fantastic book that makes you really take stock of your life and the actions you’ve made…you never know how those actions can affect others and not even know about it.
One of the finest books I have ever read. It will make you think, once you finally put the book down. It’s a bit like The Shawshank Redemption, in as much as, you may not have heard of it at first, but it will stay with you forever.
This was a book I was hesitant to read, but couldn’t put it down once I started it. It’s become one of my favorites for many reasons. The characters are so ordinary yet so vibrant that you have to read it to find out how it all works together. It was a quick read for me, but so worthwhile. It inspires me because it shows how ordinary small events …
Saw there was going to be a sequel, so I figured it was time to reread this. The first time I read this book, I was in high school, and I remember being wowed by it. The second time I read this book, I have been graduated from college for several years now, and I’m still pretty wowed by it. Albom has a talent for examining not the human condition, …
This makes me feel closer to my parents and it is a good read!
This is a bit of an odd book, but it is very thought provoking. It isn’t the norm of people you would think you would meet when you died. It makes you ponder the idea of the “butterfly effect” and how we impact everyone we come in contact with. I love books that stir my thoughts of how humans think and behave and how that impacts ours and others’ …
A unique perspective on life after death.
This was an uplifting little book that I read in a day. It tells the story of a man who fears that he did nothing with his life and upon his death, five people meet him who explain things he didn’t understand on earth – including what his purpose was. Charming and endearing, I plan to recommend it to friends.
Thought provoking and a beautifully written story.
This is one of my favorite books. I have loaned it to many friends. I love the concept of when we pass, there will be five people who were in our life waiting to help us. Pulls at your heart.
I really didn’t like this book, it put me in a horrible reading slump. Such a small book took me forever to finish. It was a two stars until the last lesson, which moved me a little bit. Not going to read the next book.
A fascinating read that begs to be revisited time and time again. It’s a refreshing take on the afterlife which changed how I view the world. Every moment feels real, and every character whole. It’s articulate, well edited, and memorable.
Very powerful story. Not sure why I waited so long to read it. Although all five were pretty amazing the ifth person simply blew me away.
This book is destined to be a classic! I couldn’t put it down! Thought-provoking, inspiring, and left me wanting more! Highly recommend it to anyone wanting a glimpse into 5 very special lives.
Album is a terrific writer

This book has been on my TBR for over a decade. I’m not exaggerating. I grew up in a Mitch Albom household. Back in the day of Detroit having two big newspapers, my dad subscribed to them both. And this author had a sports column in The Detroit Free Press. Later, when I was in high school, those newspapers combined and Mitch Albom started a …
What an incredible book this was. I know it attracts extremes of views, some people love it others despise it. I found this little book by accident in my library. It is quite short and I read the whole book within a couple of days. I simply think it is a lovely story and possibly one of the most important books I have read for years. When I …
