The First Shot: Book One in The Lieutenant Kane Dedicated to Death SeriesFor Tampa homicide lieutenant Carl Kane, death is his life. If a single award existed for sinking himself into his work, he’d have two.But the latest crime scene he’s called to, an old abandoned factory, leaves him with more bodies than leads. Three drug dealers are found shot to death—not an uncommon sight in the least. The … uncommon sight in the least. The problem lies with the pair of middle-aged women—bound, gagged, and executed—found at the same location.
Before he can sink his teeth into the initial investigation, Kane is called out to another multiple homicide. He comes up with only more questions when the second group of murders appears connected to the first.
As the lieutenant tracks down the few leads, he begins to get a clearer picture of those he seeks. That picture quickly turns crystal clear when Kane finds himself face-to-face with someone that “armed and dangerous” doesn’t even begin to describe.

Great suspense
Better than average cop thriller.
Wow this book get hold of you and doesn’t let go until you are done. Police work is very difficult. I felt this could have been a true story. I read it in a day
Good cop book thst moves quickly. Villians are a nasty bunch good guys are clevr collection.
I haven’t finished it yet, but I am looking forward to enjoying it to the end.
I am thinking that this author either has experience in law enforcement or really knows how it works. The storyline is good and the characters are real
A look at the dark side of life. The writer pulled me into the story from the first page. A good read to keep your mind off of life’s little aggravations, for sure!
The First Shot by E.H. Reinhard –
The First Shot: Book One in The Lieutenant Kane Dedicated to Death Series is excellent.
A very good read.
I especially enjoy books written by this author. His books are suspenseful and well written and his writing style reminds me of John Sandford. Besides the lieutenant Kane series, I also enjoyed the Hank Rawlins series. Both are always a good read.
Get a grip. Think.
A good story but in need of a good editor. Too much stuff in there that didn’t really enhance the delivery. I really didn’t need to know how many rings each phone call needed or that every time he answered the office phone he scooped it up.
LIKED IT BUT WAS A LITTLE TOO GORY
Very enjoyable read! I found it very interesting.
I was a tiny bit confused at the beginning but caught on by page 3 then I could hardly put it down!
I like a good thriller. Finding out who-done-it that doesn’t leave me disappointed. No mussy stuff. Just good action
A little gory
This is a very interesting and realistic book, given the Tampa area and some of the drug related murders that have taken place. It will be interesting to see how the next books tie in with this one and how the detective handles these cases.
I just finished this book. A little more violence and in-your-face murder, but nevertheless. I had to finish it to see how it ended.
Crew of robbers. The ring leader is psychopath killer. Very good book.
