Joe Pike and his partner Elvis Cole must solve the murder of an old friend and his entire family in this gripping thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author Robert Crais. When Frank Meyer and his family are executed during a home invasion, the police begin investigating the secret life they’re sure Meyer had. Joe Pike’s on a hunt of his own: to clear his friend’s name, and to punish the … name, and to punish the people who murdered him. What starts out as a simple trail gets twisted fast by old grudges, double crosses, blood vengeance, and a crime so terrible even Pike and his partner Elvis Cole have no way to measure it.

First book I read from Crais and enjoyed it. Have loaded more on my Kindle to read in the future.
Crais at his best!
Love his writing style
Robert Crais never disappoints. If only he could write them faster. May Elvis love forever and Pike along with him
Elvis Cole is a great character, but my favorite is joe Pike. We need more people like Joe to actually do what we wish for!!1
Robert Crais is a favorite! Love Elvis Cole and Joe Pike!
Robert Crais is a thoroughly entertaining writer. He’s easy to read, his characters are well developed, he knows how to keep the readers interest.
Gotta love Pike and Elvis.
Robert Crais. Right up there with Michael Connelly. Very enjoyable reading. All of his Elvis/Pike novels. I read every one I can.
Not as good as his other books. He’s moved the characters to the present time. Changed their past. Moved Elvis from his Canyon home to a condo. Got rid of his cat. Just didn’t do it for me.
Joe’s old friend, Frank, and his wife and two kids are killed in a home invasion. The ATF thinks Frank was dirty. Joe knows better.
Joe takes the lead in this book with Elvis helping out. Joe is sure Frank was not dirty and is going to prove it.
A good read, but some are better than this one.
Great read!!!
Awesome book
Fast paced action packed book.
Excellent wrtier
Edge of your seat excitement.
Can’t get enough of this books. Love the characters and the dialogue. For crying out loud, his name is Elvis….how cool can that be! Have read the entire series and always waiting for a new novel. If you like Robert Parker and Spencer for Hire, you will like this also.
Can’t say enough about Robert Crais books. I was thrilled to have a chance to get to know Joe Pike better through this book. He’s a stoic man, a man who is no stranger to violence, but beneath this public exterior he is all heart and loyalty. The book has it’s marvelous twists and turns. It’s one that I have and will read again to savor the life and living of such a complex man Crais has created in Joe Pike.
I’d forgotten that I read this book previously and enjoyed it a second time.
I enjoy the Pike and Cole characters and there were some unexpected twists in the story,
