Joe Pike and his partner Elvis Cole must solve the murder of an old friend and his entire family in this gripping thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author Robert Crais. When Frank Meyer and his family are executed during a home invasion, the police begin investigating the secret life they’re sure Meyer had. Joe Pike’s on a hunt of his own: to clear his friend’s name, and to punish the … name, and to punish the people who murdered him. What starts out as a simple trail gets twisted fast by old grudges, double crosses, blood vengeance, and a crime so terrible even Pike and his partner Elvis Cole have no way to measure it.

I really enjoy Robert Crais’s books. The characters are great and somewhat realistic.
I love Robert crais books, read everyone I can get my hands on. Exceptional writer
Since Robert Parker is gone, Robert Crais is the best two crime novelists. The other is Connelly. Joe Pike is terrific and warranted his own books once introduced as Elvis’ partner.
Like all of Robert Crais’s books featuring Joe Pike, this one is a white knuckle experience.
Like all of the Robert Crais books, I enjoyed reading about Elvis Cole and Joe Pike do their thing.
Robert Crais is an excellent writer, and Joe Pike and Elvis Cole are great fictional characters. The book has many violent depictions, so don’t read it if you like your stories mild. Also, if you are already a fan of Crais and his characters, you should know Joe drives the drama, and Elvis plays a minor role in this one
Very enjoyable with a protagonist that has highly defined principles
I think we wish to be as tough as Joe Pike.
