900+ pages of comically crazy paranormal cozy mysteries.
Andy Caplet couldn’t follow a lead if it held him by the hand. So he’s not completely surprised when he’s fired from the paper, loses his flat in The Cotswolds, and has to bunk with an eccentric detective. With nothing better to do, … eccentric detective. With nothing better to do, Andy impulsively tags along on his new roommate’s decidedly abnormal investigations…
Inspector Hobbes deals with his stressful career by chomping on bones. Having a partner may help him whether the wannabe vampires, wacky werewolves, and dastardly villains.
Can the crime-solving duo take down both human and unhuman criminals lurking in the shadows, or will they be consumed by metaphysical madness?

Found this book (three books really) by accident. FUN! The first book, Blood, was brilliant. Laugh out loud, cozy, weird, you name it. The main character, Inspector Hobbes, we never really find out what he really is hence: Unhuman.
The mysteries are all interesting; with the type of characters in the books that cannot be anything else. Nothing is really as it seems.
Cannot recommend more.
A wonderful, playful Holmesian-style supernatural mystery “team” ! Absolutely adore this series! Can’t wait for more!
lots of fun to read .very different type of story
A great read, full of memorable characters that are fantastic but still have enough realism and humor to be relatable. The central character, Andy, is totally realistic with all the foibles and self-doubts of humanity and with a gullibility and innocence that keeps the reader wondering—what next? What next, usually includes the mysterious, not-nearly human Hobbes, who amazingly solves the crime in his own unique way.
Thoroughly enjoyed it
Don’t let the characters early absurdity prevent you from continuing, the stories and characters get better as you read on. A charming and entertaining read.
Lite reading story is told by an accident prone klutz
The First Ever Unhuman Bundle captured me as soon as Hobbes took Andy Caplet home with him. Before that happened I was ill at ease in the unpleasant town of Sorenchester and disappointed to find such a place in the idyllic Cotswolds. Once Mrs. goodfellow began to heal Andy with good food and total acceptance, I was hooked! Andy is a complete train wreck of a man, a loser whose life is a slapstick comedy routine. The irony of his finding true humanity in the unhuman Hobbes, the local lawman, engages the reader and prepares him for all that is unlikely and unimaginable as the stories unfold. He becomes comfortable in the neighborhood where hair raising and mind boggling events are the norm, and where the least likely creatures demonstrate what is truly worthy in a friend.
Boring
I have two problems with this series. It consists of only four books and I can read faster than the author can write new books. If you are looking for entertainment, this is perfect. You must suspend reality and just enjoy. This is not high art. This is relaxation and entertainment.
I liked this very quirky entertaining book. I thought it was a lot of fun.
These books were great. After reading this book, I got the rest of the series. Great characters. Very enjoyable read for lovers of the supernatural.
Great, hilarious, cozy mysteries. Thoroughly enjoyed these books. Wish there were more.
really enjoyed this series. great characters, laughed a lot. the who dunit pretty easy to figure out but still an enjoyable story
Very fun lite reading. Personally I would have liked a bit more depth to the characters, but it didn’t really detract from the story.
Will definitely follow up with any sequels.
I love these books. Mysterious goings on and laugh out loud antics.
Old school detective stories in the style of Arthur Conan Doyle but with a supernatural twist. Loved it!
I’d say the first book is the strongest of those in this bundle, but all three held my interest well, and were amusing and fairly original. The overall outlook is clean and bright–a fair amount of actiony violence, but no crass language or smut to speak of, and Hobbes’ old-fashioned sense of justice is refreshingly skewed toward reform rather than punishment, despite his (hilariously) terrifying methods. I suspect the author took pains to make the language accessible to American readers, which took some of the fun out of things, but overall, I liked the bundle well enough to consider buying the fourth e-book as well.
Quirky and fun, with a funny but gormless narrator.
weird, but a fun read. not what you’re expecting…
