When Mitch McDeere signed on with Bendini, Lambert & Locke of Memphis, he thought that he and his beautiful wife, Abby, were on their way. The firm leased him a BMW, paid off his school loans, arranged a mortgage, and hired the McDeeres a decorator. Mitch should have remembered what his brother Ray–doing fifteen years in a Tennessee jail–already knew: You never get nothing for nothing. Now … the FBI has the lowdown on Mitch’s firm and needs his help. Mitch is caught between a rock and a hard place, with no choice–if he wants to live.

First book by Grisham that I read, am now almost through with The Reckoning, own several of his books that are signed. I would say his A Time to Kill was probably the best book he ever wrote but have enjoyed all his books
It was the first book I read by John Grisham. It held my interest from the start and I didn’t want to put it down.
Any book by John Grisham is a page turner!
One of John Grishom’s best books.
First book of John Grisham that I read and made me an instant fan. I love the development of the characters and the non stop action. I continued reading his following books due to this first well written book.
What a fabulous book. From the first page to the last, I couldn’t put it down. That was the first I’d heard of John Grisham and I’ve read every one of his other books.
I enjoy this author’s writing and have read most of his books and will keep on reading them. Always keeps one guessing the outcome.
Loved it!
Very good, a page turner as most John Grisham books are; the ending was kind of corny, but I still enjoyed it.
Great book, better than the movie.
Grisham always lays down a great foundation and immediately hooks the reader
Super fun read and unputdownable.
Excellent read! Great plot and characters! One of Grisham’s best.
Excellent
Grisham writes legal novel’s that i’ll have you thinking your sitting next to him in the court room, if you like court room drama this book is a must read!
not grisham’s best, but still entertaining.
I like his books.
Always leave me wanting more. This one was no different, great characters & situation.
Must read if you like thrilling legal stories, and even if you like a good drama. It was made into a movie but that spoils the end. Read the book first and then the movie; both are good but Grisham’s detailed writing make the book a bit better.
Excellent Grisham classic.
