Another great installment in the Butterfly Harbor series
Another fabulous read. I can’t say enough good things about Anna J. Stewart’s books!
The Firefighter’s Thanksgiving Wish is another amazing trip to Butterfly Harbor. With this book, the story is more about Frankie Bettenourt and Roman Salazar, with a bit of intrigue thrown in for a good story. There was so much to love here, for me at least, because these two characters are just really special…humans. Frankie is always doing something for someone, anyone really, and Roman has issues from his past that he needs to come to terms with in order to move ahead in his life but he is a softie at heart and always tries to do the right thing.
Just a little bit about the story, as I can’t really do it justice: Frankie is the current Captain in the Butterfly Harbor Fire Department and is expecting to become Fire Chief, like her father and grandfather before her. She is one tough cookie, coming across as totally in charge. Under that independent exterior beats the heart of someone who leads with her heart – and yes, sometimes a right hook! – and takes care of all her friends and neighbors, especially the Cocoon Club. (OMG, these seniors are hilarious!) When the mayor hires an outsider to fill the Chief position, well, let’s say that things start to “spark”.
Enter Roman. His heritage is partly Italian and his relationship with his mother cracked me up! Oh, the barbs I exchanged with my own mother, mostly to tease her mercilessly, all came back to me. There’s one particular scene where Roman is making lasagna to serve at Thanksgiving. Everyone around him is thinking he is crazy but growing up I know that our Thanksgiving turkey was more table centerpiece than actual food on the menu. I found it hilarious.
I won’t tell you much about the story but it has its twists and turns and a relationship between Frankie and Roman that simmers just below the surface, until they both realize that it is bigger than either of them has ever felt before. Loved these two characters. It’s a clean romance – they are sweet, sassy, sexy (at least in my head!) and they are so good together, once they figure it out, of course. And all the folks from Butterfly Harbor, and out of towners (Roman’s mom, Ezzie Salazar, can you hear me?) will make you laugh, and sniffle, and then laugh again. I really enjoyed my return trip to Butterfly Harbor.
The Firefighter’s Thanksgiving Wish is the seventh title in the Butterfly Harbor series, and while there are some tensions, some serious issues going on, this time there are plenty of antics by the older crowd to counter the tensions between Roman and Frankie. After all, everyone knew that Frankie was a natural choice for the Fire Chief position when the current chief retired. No one told the arrogant, annoying new mayor that as he’s hired from outside of Butterfly Harbor. Roman comes from a big city fire station, he’s looking to check off boxes on his resume to get him to the profession that he really wants and is just outside of his reach. So far. Neither knew the danger they’d be facing or that enemies could so easily become friends… and more.
I adored Frankie and her passive-aggressive actions toward Roman throughout their opening gambits. And of course, since Roman basically, unknowingly stole Frankie’s promotion out from under her I had to make Roman prove himself to me… and he eventually did with laughter, kindness, and charm. These two just fit together so well. I liked them individually and together they just sizzle with possibilities. And the antics of The Cocoon Club certainly had me in snort-giggles all the way through The Firefighter’s Thanksgiving Wish. The codes that Frankie and the elders used to let the fire department know that it wasn’t an emergency just needed a ride always put a smile on my face, and usually laughter as well. Roman certainly got roasted by some of the loyal to Frankie residents of Butterfly Harbor and he took it in good stride. Mostly. There was that broken leg incident though, that wasn’t so fun but it did open up doors for this couple to move forward.
I had such fun with Roman and Frankie that I didn’t want their story to end. There is some ongoing danger, a few close calls, and always the magic of the butterflies in Butterfly Harbor. We’ll run into familiar faces, catch up on what’s happening in the lives of previous couples and just enjoy hanging out in the coolest, tiny town around. If you love a really good romance filled with laughter, antics, a touch of danger, and a couple to watch grow and fall in love then this story and this series would be perfect for you. Just because a series has been around for a bit doesn’t mean that you cannot enjoy everything about this world… the plus side for me was that I could binge-read and not have to wait for the next story although there will be more – and that fact makes me a very happy reader.
I own a Kindle edition of this title.
The Firefighter’s Thanksgiving Wish by Anna J. Stewart is a heartwarming story about two firefighters falling for each other.
Will Frankie keep her heart safe from Roman?
Frankie Bettencourt
Frankie Bettencourt is a long-time resident of Butterfly Harbor and has been at the fire station for a long time. She has a twin brother that she loves and is sometimes worried about him. Frankie has been wanting to be the Chief of the fire department in Butterfly Harbor since she was a little girl going there with her dad. Sadly the mayor Gil passed her by for this position. Is she upset? Of course. Will she do anything about it? Nope. She will take it in strides and try to play nice with the new chief.
What I like about Frankie is that she is a woman who speaks her mind and makes it clear when she’s upset about something. She is also good with kids and loves her community so much that she wouldn’t consider the thought of going someplace else so that she could become chief. What I don’t like about Frankie is that despite wanting the best for the community, she would forfeit being happy herself.
Roman Salazar
Roman Salazar is a firefighter who bounces to different firehouses to get his ultimate dream job of being an investigator for the feds. Instead of getting the job that he wants, Roman heads to Butterfly Harbor to regroup and to act as a chief of this firehouse. Roman is a nice guy who didn’t realize the landmines he set off by accepting this position. He’s a good guy that wants to fulfill his dreams. Except will Butterfly Harbor change him as it has everyone else?
What I like about Roman is that he speaks his mind when he doesn’t like something that doesn’t sit right with him. He is into getting to know the town despite telling himself that it’s just a pitstop for him.
Five Stars
Ms. Stewart has captured my heart with firefighters Frankie and Roman. These two are so funny when they are around each other and talk. I loved the way that they worked together. Frankie and Roman are great together, and I like seeing how everyone else realizes something is going on but them. I, even more, loved the dynamic between them when something unexpected happens. This book encompasses two holidays.
The Firefighter’s Thanksgiving Wish by Anna J. Stewart is getting a five rating, and I am recommending it to anyone that reads romance.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy from the author. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

You know when you’ve expected something and you’re on the verge of having it come true, then it doesn’t happen? This is how Frankie Bettencourt feels when she’s passed over for the position of Fire Chief in Butterfly Harbor. She’s done everything she needs to do to quality for the top job, but due to small town politics, she’s passed over.
Roman Salazar also has a dream and is working to fulfill that. He was also passed over for his dream job so is trying to get his promotional ticket punched by taking the Butterfly Harbor Fire Chief position just long enough to have higher ups realize he should be a federal employee.
Frankie and Roman must work together, but they don’t have to like it! This works for about 10 seconds. Both are looking for love, but they don’t realize it. The community and family members see the sparks. Will Frankie leave town? Will Roman take his dream job? Will tragedy take their options away?
Jump in with both feet and read this fabulous romance. Strong personalities that usually are in charge must learn to give and change their priorities during the Thanksgiving season. It’s also wonderful to catch up with the other Butterfly Harbor personalities we’ve grown to know and love!
Trouble is brewing right from the start! With THE FIREFIGHTER’S THANKSGIVING WISH, book seven in her Butterfly Harbor Stories series, Anna J. Stewart brings us the story of everyone’s favorite firefighter Frankie and her new boss … and it turned out to be one of my favs in the series!
Frankie is the woman everyone loves to love in the Butterfly Harbor series. She’s tough as nails, but sweet as can be and always available to pitch in and help anyone. In this book, she’s up in arms because she’s been passed over for the promotion everyone knows she deserved.
Roman is new to the scene and though he seems like an all around okay guy, he’s not finding it easy to step into the job that the town sees as Frankie’s.
I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoying a small town setting filled with comical and endearing characters where a couple always finds their happily ever after in the end. This series has been great, so you can’t go wrong with any book you pick up in it. Looking forward to more to come!
I just loved Frankie she is like the glue that holds everyone together not only at the firehouse but for many in Butterfly Habor ie the Cocoon Club, so I was totally team Frankie when Roman turns up even though he didn’t know what he was walking into. I will admit like many in Butterfly Harbor I softened to Roman after getting to know him better and then with how the parks fly between he and Frankie are fun to watch whether it be about her trying to show him how things work in town or the growing attraction to each other. This had me hooked from start to finish and I loved getting to see everyone from town again as well as seeing yet another of their own finally get their well deserved HEA!!
Awesome Holiday romance. The author places just enough angst throughout the story that made it exciting and entertaining. The characters in the small town setting are wonderful, and full of surprises and quirks. The house containing the elderly are well known to Frankie. She expected to become the next Chief of the Fire Dept but that’s not what happened. Roman was an outsider who was completely an unknown. He had the credentials but so didn’t Frankie. This was a wonderful story and I was given a complementary copy of this book and chose to write my review.
The Firefighter’s Thanksgiving Wish is my favorite Butterfly Harbor book so far! I loved Frankie’s character, and Roman’s interactions with The Cocoon Club were amusing. As always, it was fun catching up with the residents of Butterfly Harbor.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a complimentary Advance Reader Copy.
I loved this book and this series. Ms. Stewart brings heart in all her books. The Butterfly Harbor books are all amazing. I couldn’t pick a favorite if you asked me too. But this one is pretty close.
Frankie Betterncourt has wanted to be Chief of the BHFD for as long as she can remember. Her dad was the chief before he died in a fire accident. When position is now being given to an outsider she’s mad. He won’t know the ins and outs of the small town of Butterfly Harbor.
These people depend on her.
Roman Salazar wants to do the best job he can. It’s only for 6 months; but something changes things. One certain women. They may call a temporary truce; but it doesn’t last. They have chemistry and he doesn’t know what to do about It. But it’s his mom who makes me laugh.
Basically telling him to fix what he messed up.
You will laugh and hold your breath when things go south. But in one instance it turns out to be funny. Roman answers a call and has a little accident. Well maybe not too funny, but what he says to Frankie is hysterical.
Buy the book! All of them.
I want to live in Butterfly Harbor. As always the characters are real and the story believable. I feel like I am reading a story in a hometown newspaper. I cant wait for the next story.
this is another story in Butterfly Harbor, Frankie is hoping to be the Chief of the fire department. but Roman comes in and he has the job. can they get alone and can he adjust to small town. the seniors are trying to put up the lights and arguing on the roof, Frankie takes Roman to the farm for fresh veggies, if you have read any of the other Butterfly Harbor books you will want to read this one. I was given a copy of the book but this is an honest review. this is a very good story and well written
What can I say about Frankie and Roman’s story except that I totally loved it – every page! Every visit to Butterfly Harbor gets better and better. I want to live there and SO wish it were a real town! I could really relate to Frankie because she was passed over for the Chief position in the Butterfly Harbor Fire Department. Her father held that position and her whole life has been dedicated to reaching the same position. When Roman, an out of towner, is chosen to be the new Chief, she is justifiably angry and hurt. I could feel all those emotions because when you work so hard for something and don’t get it, it’s hard to deal with! Enter Roman Salazar who has no idea what he’s walking into! Frankie is like the town sweetheart and everyone protects her, so that means they DON’T like Roman because he took Frankie’s job! You’ll have to see how he handles it! AND, you’ll have to see how he handles Frankie! I loved going along for the ride when it came to their relationship! SO MUCH FUN!!!! And don’t get me started on Roman’s mother! Hilarious! This book is fantastic and I highly recommend it!
