*** From the author of the Amazon #1 Bestselling Novel, The Air He Breathes, comes the next book in the elements series. Complete Standalone! ***
There once was a boy, and I loved him.
Logan Francis Silverstone and I were complete opposites. I danced, and he stood still. He was quiet, while I ran my mouth. He struggled to find a smile, and I refused to frown.
The night I saw the darkness … night I saw the darkness that truly lived inside of him, I couldn’t look away.
We were broken together, yet somehow whole. We were wrong together, but always right. We were the stars that burned across the night sky, searching for a wish, praying for better tomorrows.
Until the day I lost him. He threw us away with one hasty decision–a decision that changed us forever.
There once was a boy, and I loved him.
And for a few breaths, a few whispers, a few moments, I think he loved me, too.

This story is full of pain, heartache and a love that may never be. Alyssa and Logan are best friends and from different worlds. She has dreams and he just wants to survive. Life is hard for them both and when Logan finally hits bottom, will he take everyone with him? When tragedy hits his brother, will Logan come back home for good?
I loved this story but it will have you crying so have plenty Kleenex handy.
3.5 stars. I feel like there’s something missing from Logan and Alyssa ‘s story. *spoilerish* I loved the beginning, but after Lo went to rehab it went downhill for me. The rest of the story felt like a disconnect from the intriguing start. I feel like my lack enthusiasm is partly due to the fact that I was so in love with The Air He Breathes, the first installment in the series, I had such high expectations that just weren’t met. A lovely story, but could be been better for me. Hoping for more from the next book.
At the 50% mark it was a solid 4-star read. Then, at 70% I lost my connection to the story and the characters. There is such a thing as a too happy ending.
The second book in the Elements series is about addiction and toxic relationships.
It’s also a second chance soul mates romance.
Logan and Alyssa meet when they are 16. They are best friends for 2 years before they become more and then they become nothing for 5 years.
My heart went out to Logan while reading this book. I stopped so many times to just breathe when reading his chapters. His life… there are so many Logans in this world, with messed up lives and messed up parents. His mother is a junkie and his father a dealer. He witnesses incredible abuse all his life, from both parents. It is so unfair the way they treat him. He gets hooked on drugs when he is very young. He really had no chance.
Alyssa was his chance. A rogue artist, left by her dad and victim to her mom’s harsh critique. His half big brother, Kellan was also his chance.
When Logan falls, he falls hard. And then we see him 5 years later. He’s better but life has a way of challenging him.
I liked the first 70% or so, Logan’s story, his battle with addiction. After the twist, the story changed focus. I felt it was rushed. I wanted more of his inner battle. He was too ok in a horrible situation.
I lost my connection to the characters after 70%. The ending was squeaky clean for everybody involved. I wanted more.
Trigger warnings for drug abuse, addiction, physical abuse, child abuse.
Omg! Brittainy C Cherry’s books are everything! She always delivers. She gives you some amazing highs and some heartbreaking lows. The Fire Between High and Lo is the perfect example of this.
We follow Logan and Alyssa who became friends as teenagers and try to navigate all the bad in their lives… mainly from their parents. During this time they fall spectacularly in love. But, like most love stories theirs isn’t easy and you have to go through many lows to experience the highs.
This book is nothing short of amazing and I can’t recommend it enough!!
A love written in the stars!
Another heartbreaking, gut-wrenching book in this series that I barely survived due to its emotional intensity!
At times, I felt like I was drowning in the story, unable to catch my breath.
Every time there seemed to be a silver lining for these characters, fate struck again.
The pain and suffering that Alyssa and Logan, aka High and Lo, have to endure is almost unbearable and made me admire their strength and resilience all the more.
The Fire Between High And Lo is another unforgettable reading highlight this year, that’s for sure.
I totally loved Logan (Lo) and Alyssa’s (High)’s story. Beautifully written with so much emotion and depth. I find once I start a book written by Brittainy Cherry I’m obsessed until it’s done. The characters are defined with such heart and detail that you will fall instantly in love with them. You’ll feel their pain, feel their passion (and there’s lot’s of that) Logan meets Alyssa when they were around 15 and became very close friends. As time passed they could no longer hold back their feelings. Logan grows up in a broken home with a drug addict Mother who never able to care for him. Alyssa is also from a broken home where she can never please her mother. I’m not telling more, just go get this beautiful story and dive in. Devour every amazing page and give Brittainy a much deserved 5 star review!!!

This series in one of the best series I’ve ever read. Brittainy C. Cherry has a way with words that manages to move me beyond belief, every book i read by her is a whole new experience to me.
Logan Francis Silverstone hasn’t had an easy life. his parents are the worst parents in the world, two addicts who care only about themselves. The only silver lining in his life is his brother, Killan. Then he meets Alyssa Marie Walters, and his life is forever altered. White everything Logan went through he has trouble trusting people other than his brother Killan, but somehow he and Alyssa became best friends.

A guy and a girl can be just friends, but at one point or another, they will fall for each other. With time, things started to change between these two, they still are best friend but now they LOVE each other too. But all good things come to an end, some love stories last forever and some last for a season. Logan’s addiction gets out of control and one mistake turns his and Alyssa’s life upside down.
— . .
Alyssa and Logan’s story was heartbreakingly beautiful. both of them went through a lot and lost so much more, but they always find each other in the darkest of times. Sometimes to survive you only one true person to be there, just one person.
’ . , , . ’ ’ .
you can read a book by anyone and you can enjoy it, but it takes someone special to make you FEEL the book. and Brittainy is one of the very few authors that can do that. I’ll always have a special place in my heart for this series.

I was going through my mountain high TBR pile and realized I never read this one. Holy hell, it got me. I wasn’t full on ugly crying, more like half of that, but I felt this whole book. Ugh, Brittainy gets me right in the emotions, every time. I thought, yeah I’m good. Nope, I wasn’t. I can’t believe it took me this long to read it!
Oh my gosh! Brittainy C. Cherry has done it again! She has killed me with this amazing, heart wrenching soul consuming book. I absolutely loved every word of this story. Logan was such a tortured soul. My heart ached for him. Alyssa was his perfect match. Their love story stops my heart. I loved the side characters. The storyline was a good pace packed full of angst and action. I will definitely be recommending this book to everyone!
I love this book. This author always rocks my world with her books!
Couldn’t put this book down!
I forgot how much I love Brittany Cherry’s writing style. This story was heartbreakingly breathtaking. I read it in one sitting and cannot wait to start the next book in the series.
If you don’t know that a book written by Brittainy C. Cherry is gonna punch in the gut, wrench your heart out, mend your heart, sadden you beyond belief, bring you the most ridiculous amount of joy and give you faith in all of humanity all at the same time, then you clearly didn’t do your homework on this one of a kind author. Do you homework, because no pun intended, but this book will make you soar as high as you can soar but it will also spiral you down to the lowest depths of your soul. AND YOU WILL LOVE EVERY PAGE .. because the story is real .
The Fire Between High & Lo does not pull any punches. It does not sugarcoat. It does not sweep under the rug. It does not gloss over. It is real. It is life. At its lowest and at its highest. And everything in between.
The first thing I did when I finished this book was pop in on chat and message a friend .. “My eyes are on fire over this book!”. She asked me if it was because it was too sad and I immediately said, “no, it’s just too real”. In my opinion, the journeys (and there were plenty) in this book were not what I would consider sad, but my heart still broke because they were tough. The book was an uphill battle from page one. But what a glorious view when you reached the top of that hill! #TRUST
This is truly a profound story of friendship, family, trust, redemption, self-worth, growth, second chances and above all … unconditional love.
“I shrugged.
She shrugged.
I laughed.
She laughed.
I parted my lips.
She parted her lips.
I leaned in.
She leaned in.
Our lips locked as our souls became forever intertwined, and even though my feet were planted firmly on the ground, I’d never in my life felt so high.”
Lo and his High.
This book is an emotional journey filled with pain, love, angst, joy, sorrow, addictions, recovery, forgiveness and hope. Logan and Alyssa love story built me up, broke me open and put me back together again. Their story is beautiful and painful. Thank goodness for an HEA after all the angst and pain. Wonderfully written, beautifully delivered story.
I enjoyed this book a lot. You will definitely feel the emotions of the characters while reading this book. There were times when I wanted Alyssa to stand up to Logan and not let him treat her the way he did, but overall it was a great story with a HEA and I look forward to my next read from this author.
