The Finder Of the Lucky Devil by Megan Mackie was a really good novel! I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel, although it didn’t grab and keep my attention as much as I was hoping it would. It was a little slow to get into for me personally. Great writing, and a great story line, I really enjoyed the whole plot. All of the characters were great, and I loved that the novel was full of fantasy. This will not be the last novel I read from Mackie, and I do recommend reading this story.
The Finder of the lucky Devil (The Lucky Devil series Book 1) by Megan Mackie was a great urban fantasy. I loved this genre when I was younger and I realized how much I missed these types of stories. Megan Mackie did a great job creating the world and plot. Rune was a wholesome character and I really enjoyed her story. The drama was super intense and kept me hooked into the story. I look forward to the rest of the series!
Paranormal can be hard for me to get into. But I was pleasantly surprised at this one. Rune has been hiding–she is a finder; someone who can find almost anything. A bar owner trying to make ends meet, she isn’t picky about finder jobs to take. Only St. Benedict walks in seeking Rune’s help and the bottom drops out on who he wants Rune to find. You’ll just have to read to find out why! Great urban/fantasy read!!
The Finder of the lucky Devil (The Lucky Devil series Book 1) by Megan Mackie. This is a great Urban Fantasy story. This story has tons of magic, mystery, adventure and action. Its the story of Rune Leveau who is approached by a dangerous man and corporate spy St. Benedict. He wants her to use her magical talent to help him find a criminal named Anna Masterson. This is a very dangerous mission in a high tech dystopia that resembles Chicago. Secrets are going to be told and manipulation will be used at every turn to find Anna. Rune is a very innocent young women who even dresses in white but she is smarter than they give her credit for. She has no self confidence and no self worth but she has been trained since birth to play it safe. When Rune finally stops believing all the lies being told about and to her she is a worthy fighter. This book takes you on a journey of life and death. Read The Finder of the Lucky Devil to see who survives?
In this wild goose chase of a book, we’re out to help a magician who is on the run from a cybernetic spy she used to help. The charming spy asked her to find her alter ego, Anna Morrison which is a dangerous secret.
St. Benedict spent six years trying to find the Masterson Files which is a computer program that can cast spells. It’s becoming harder to do as he’s not gonna give up without a fight.
This book is a great world-building book as it takes you in an alternate future with lots of action to keep you gripped from cover to cover. This one is as unpredictable as it gets and entertained beyond the expansion of your imagination!
The Finder of The Lucky Devil by Megan Mackie is a surprise and exciting read and is a paranormal thriller, urban fantasy at its best. The story is very well written and woven with so many threads that are wonderfully entertaining. With magic and alternate worlds, magical creatures and corporate conspiracy, technology and supernaturals makes this a hard read to put down. You find yourself completely under its spell as your emotions run rife and you become part of the action and craziness and let’s not forget the fun. Megan’s characters have depth and that feel of being real people in a world where so much is going on and a lot of story that has to be told. As I said it is a paranormal thriller, urban fantasy at its best, so grab a copy and sit back and enjoy the ride.
Rune is an very interesting character. This is a magical world with all sort of creatures that you expect in a magical forset. The author had great world building. This lucky Devil ia a little bar which holds many secrets. There is much adventure waiting for you in this novel.
The Finder of the Lucky Devil
The Lucky Devil Series, Book 1
By: Megan Mackie
Narrated by: Megan Mackie, Frank Sjodin
Boy, this was so surprising! This is an alternative world of ours with trolls, fae, fairies, brownies, cat creatures, little people, mermaids, and such. It also has tech and magic but they are learning to blend them together! The author sets the stage wonderfully and makes you feel like you are there, especially at the bar. Rune inherited a bar from her aunt, The Lucky Devil’s bar. This bar is also no what it seems. She also has to make the payments and deal with a Corp mob thugs.
In comes a spy/detective looking for someone and needs her halp. The problem is that it is her. She too is not what she seems and neither is the detective.
It is not a love story. She thinks he is attractive. He wants to not even be friends.
There are great characters in here that stay with you! Fast paced book that is well thought out! This book is right up there with Jim Butcher, Patricia Briggs, Stephanie Meyers, or Rachel Vincent.
The narration was terrific too. Normally when the author narrates the book it is pretty poor but this was great!
Rune Leveau has a lot on her mind. Still mourning the death of her Aunt Maddie, she has to find a way to keep their bar running and keep the mortgage paid. So when a corporate spy offers to pay her to use her talent to locate someone it should be a relief. There’s only one problem. The person he wants her to find is the woman she used to be.
The Finder of the Lucky Devil is a mash-up, containing traditional fantasy elements such as trolls, fairies and magic, set against an almost cyberpunk-ish near-future environment where people can be technologically enhanced and corporations own the majority of society. The mix actually works very well, often creating an interesting clash between the use of magic and the use of technology. Elsewhere, the world has been well thought out, the internal logic easy to grasp but still having areas ripe for exploration.
As the main character, Rune is easy to empathise with. The prologue sets the stage and makes it easy to understand why she is unwilling to draw too much attention to herself. As the book progresses, and she learns more about her talent and potential future, she grows into her own, reconciling aspects of her personality that she had hidden, even from herself.
St. Benedict, the agent looking to hire Rune, is more elusive. Little of his background is explored until late in the book and even then there are several questions left unanswered. Possibly those will come up again in the second volume.
For the most part, I enjoyed the book. There were some moments when I felt I was losing track of who was who with the minor characters and I found parts of the finale confusing but these didn’t invalidate enjoyment. I will certainly pick up a copy of the second book.

Megan Mackie’s The Finder of the Lucky Devil is the first in the Lucky Devil series. This science fiction/fantasy novel has a little bit of everything mixed within in: suspense, drama, fantasy/science fiction, heartbreak, strife and more. I didn’t initially plan to read this story, but once I began, I was engrossed within the book. The author has created multi-faceted characters with hypnotizing sequences, action and addictive suspense. Rune’s the lead character is this story and she was so well written. Let’s not forget the Lucky Devil, so imaginative, creative and ingenious. This story was done correctly and is definitely one you should take a chance on.
Megan Mackie is a new author to me. I have been branching out into the paranormal romances a little more and this was a nice a different treat for me. I enjoyed that this did a good job of melding some dystopian ideals with magic and new creatures to enjoy. Overall this was a great little read that went by fast but packed a decent punch. I think a solid four stars, and a hope to enjoy the next one in the series as soon as I possibly can.
This is the first book in The Lucky Devil Series. The Lucky Devil is actually a bar. There is some mystery surrounding The Lucky Devil. The newest owner, Rune is one of our main gals. She was left with the Lucky Devil when her Aunt, the previous owner, died and left it to her. There is a small hitch in this newfound role of owner for Rune. She is hiding something and it may be detrimental to her being able to do her best job. It has already caused her a lot of pain in the past. Will it continue to do so? Will she be able to come out on top in this or will things crumble before she gets a chance to get used to the idea of owning this neat little bar?
There was some really neat descriptions and word play used to bring to life some scenes of magic and intrigue. Ones that I thought about long after I finished this book. I loved how realistic this seemed even though there was some strong hints of imagination used. Overall, I am excited about this new series. Thanks so much Megan Mackie. On to The Saint of Liars!
The Finder of the Lucky Devil by Megan Mackie is such a new an interesting concept. I was a bit curious to find out what the storyline entailed, and was shocked to see how enthralled I ended up being by the story alone.
We get to meet Rune Leveau, and how much of an interesting individual she is. She has the ability to find objects and does so for a living. Unfortunately for her, her ability puts her in a bind and causes some problems for her.
I actually loved the fact that this was a Paranormal Romance, and everything that the characters had to offer. I was surprised by the author’s ability to create a world that included magic, fantasy and some love / romance – and was able to make it all work. I’m definitely curious as to where this story will go and how the author will work everything out. This was a definite 4 Star Book for me!
interesting book, it’s definitely not something I would normally go for but I really enjoyed the story. I thought the urban fantasy feel was different but really solid. Rune is a great main character, and you really feel for her and want her to succeed. For St. Benedict it took me a long time to decide if I should like him or not… but in the end he won my heart. Great story.

The Finder of the Lucky Devils: A Paranormal Thriller is the first book in The Lucky Devil Series by Megan Mackie. This is the first story I have read by this author, but definitely won’t be the last. This book is full of action, suspense and thrilling adventure. I was hooked from the very first page and just kept read to find out what would happen next. The next thing I know it’s 3 A.M., but well worth the lack of sleep today. Ruin is a wonderfully strong woman, who is hiding in plain sight from her past. When a cyborg comes to ask for help finding Anna Masterson, the hijinks start. There are many twists and turns , and just when you think you know what will happen next, the author throws in a surprise. I can’t wait to read the next book in this series, and look forward to reading other book from Ms. Mackie!

The corporations truly run everything and Anna Masterson has to remake herself into Rune Leveau. The characters and story are well written and make for an interesting read. The Finder of the Lucky Devil is the first book in the Lucky Devil Series by Megan Mackie. What a great find this book has turned out to be! WOW! I certainly wasn’t expecting that. This is an exceptionally good urban fantasy/cyberpunk/neon-dystopia story with paranormal elements, magic, action and a slew of mystical and mythical creatures.
I am not even going to try to give you a run down of the story, as the blurb does a far better job than I ever could- plus this is a book you really don’t want any spoilers to. Ms. Mackie has delivered a rich, vibrant and vividly detailed story set in a cleverly constructed and interesting world, and the story is quite enthralling- which is testament to Ms. Mackie’s superb writing and world building skills.
There is so much happening in this story which hooked me right from the get-go. It’s got a real noir feel to it, and lots of neon-dystopia and cyberpunk elements, too. The story twists and turns, with lots of surprises and unexpected developments that had me reading long into the night just so I could find out what happens.
I can’t recommend this story and author highly enough. I have already pre-ordered her next book. Can’t wait!
Kudos!
Thank you, Ms. Mackie!

I really liked the characters in the story especially Rune, I thought she was a great female lead. She was actually really relatable and I loved that about her. St Benedict was also a good character and I really liked him.
