A job to die for. Women to kill for. Dangerous times call for dangerous men like the Hudson Kings—and making it out alive is only half the fun.Nick Dawes just had to go and prove something to himself. The brilliant moneyman of the Hudson Kings is in deeeep trouble after losing $20 million during a “freelance” heist, and now a Russian crime boss wants the money and Nick’s head. Nick needs to make … Nick’s head. Nick needs to make himself scarce—and find someone to babysit his fish. Someone like lush, gorgeous Jane MacGregor, who might just be the death of him…
After being swindled by her jerk of an ex, Jane can’t say no to house-sitting a luxurious Fifth Avenue penthouse. The only downfall—aside from Nick’s tendency to show up covered in bruises and blood—is an increasingly strong attraction to her superhot and expensively suited-up new boss. Never make the same mistake twice.
But when Nick’s dangerous profession crashes in on Jane’s quiet little world, all hell breaks loose. And Jane is about to find out just what kind of man she’s falling for.

The Hudson Kings have become my new favorite series! I’m just disappointed that only two books have been released so far. I want more of them!
I loved the first book, but I think I may have loved this one even more! In the first book, Nick had a small part. We got to know him on the very surface and I was kinda disappointed that the second book was about him and not Dex. But then I started reading his book and I fell in love with Nick!
This book has a lot of action and spy stuff. It’s really fun. Jane is a friend of Ally’s, vetted by Missy and Dex, and then hired by Nick to pet sit his fish while he has to lay low after a freelance job gone bad.
But of course, Nick and Jane are extremely attracted to each other, with chemistry that steamed up my kindle screen! I liked that they got to know each other over the phone in the beginning. While they were physically attracted to each other, they didn’t even kiss until well after sharing personal stories about their pasts with one another.
My heart broke for Nick when learning about his childhood. I loved the man he had chosen to become. And when he came to love Jane, that love made him even better!
Jane was an excellent heroine, fresh off of a bad relationship and not willing to let anyone push her over again. I loved how she spoke her mind and didn’t have super irrational behaviors when it came Nick and his job. She kept a cool head and I liked it.
There is only one sex scene in this book. They do kiss much earlier but are interrupted by a literal bomb going off. Even though there was only one sex scene, it was a good scene! Detailed but not overly so. I certainly would have been fine with another one, but it didn’t make sense for the story to have another one.
There’s a bit of swearing, mostly F bombs, but not too many to be distracting.
I can’t wait for the next book!

Hudson Kings #2
Complex, intricate, detailed and delightful – this was a book that I could not put down.
The Hudson Kings are an independent group of stunning studly extremely competent mercenaries that work together but also take freelance jobs from time to time. On one such job Nick Dawes, money mover extraordinaire, manages to “lose” 20 million dollars – and his life is then on the line. Wanting someone to apartment sit and care for his fish he hires Jane MacGregor, a friend of some women linked to the Hudson Kings, until he feels it is safe to come out of hiding again.
Nick is a handsome, wealthy, multifaceted man that is such a breath of fresh air as a book boyfriend. I think he might be one of the most unusual and endearing men I have met in a book recently. And then there is Jane and she is so much more than many female leads – she too is unusual and such a great match for Nick. She is unflappable, dedicated, humorous, lusty and just perfect in so many ways. The two together are great. The story is wonderful. The team and other side characters are so interesting that I can’t wait for the next book in the series – no matter WHO it is about! This is one series that is a winner, a keeper and a delight to the soul.
Thank you to NetGalley and Montlake Romance for the ARC – This is my honest review.
