Nicola Moriarty makes her US debut with this stunning page-turner for fans of Jojo Moyes, Emily Griffin, Kate Morton, and Jessica Knoll, about four best friends on a relaxing vacation that turns devastating when old secrets are revealed, long-held grudges surface, and a shattering betrayal is discovered that shakes the foundation of their lives. Best friends from high school, Joni, Deb, Eden, and … Eden, and Trina had always looked forward to the vacations they spent together. But the demands of careers, husbands, and babies gradually pulled them apart, and now their annual getaways may be a thing of the past. Joni doesn’t want to lose her friends, and this year she’s coaxed them all back together for some fun at a beach house.
Late on a laughter and wine-filled night, the women dare one another to write anonymous letters, spilling her most intimate thoughts like they did as teenagers. But the fun game meant to bring them closer together turns painfully serious, exposing cracks in their lives and their relationships. Each letter is a confession revealing disturbing information. A rocky marriage. A harrowing addiction. A hidden pregnancy. A heartbreaking diagnosis.
Days later, Joni notices something in the fireplace—a crumpled and partially burned fifth letter that holds the most shattering admission of all.
Best friends are supposed to keep your darkest secrets. But the revelations Joni, Deb, Eden and Trina have shared will have unforeseen consequences . . . and none of them will ever be the same.

First book I’ve read by this author and I liked the book. I did have a little bit of a hard time keeping the characters straight. The story was an interesting twist on the girl’s club plot. Perhaps Australians are more fit than Americans but all that running and rock climbing left me exhausted. Nice twisty ending that tied up the dangling ends without being too predictable.
Loved the characters. Suggested my husband read and he said he thought it was a very good book too
I enjoyed it
I would give this book a thousand stars if I could!!! Absolutely wonderful! A brilliant piece of literature!

A group of friends gathering to share their most hidden secrets, four friends with four letters…or is there one more? The Fifth Letter pulls the reader into the lives of one friend who never believed her secret would be revealed and would rip the lives of her four friends to pieces. Highly recommend.
It was boring and uninteresting.
Cliched, with plot flaws, unlikeable characters, and grammatical errors.
I didn’t really know what to expect when I started this book, what made me request this book was the description it sounded good but then I still didn’t know what to expect exactly. I enjoyed this story more than I thought I would.
It was such an interesting concept and at first, I was really unsure about the way it was told but I got into it fast. The way Joni told the story to the priest in confession was something I very much learned to like it and even some of the humour that came from the priest was good. It was nice to have some light moments especially when the content of the story was so heavy.
The story was very interesting concept in that they all write a letter anonymously about their deepest and darkest secrets it was so interesting and some of these letters were pretty twisted and they go into some deep topics I don’t want to say as spoilers, but some of the stuff included in the letter are sometimes unspoken topics especially including women. It was so nice seeing woman differently represented in terms of jobs, home life and children they were all different and it was nice to see it represented that way.
This novel is also the perfect example of what happens when you leave school and try to keep in touch with your friends sometimes it’s just not possible because different life paths, and this novel shows it so well. Also how they can keep trying to meet up with each other in their busy lives. The friendship between them all is strained though and that does get shown in the novel as well as it feels like some of them are left out and yet they all feel left out at the same time. It shows that you really can keep secrets from the people you love.
I enjoyed this more than I thought I would, I don’t have much opinion on the characters they were okay, I just really enjoyed this for the plot at times the characters did get annoying.
This was just so-so. Don’t waste your time.
It Was okay
It was sophomoric. Many plot twists that were silly and confusing.
Good idea, but it was difficult to keep the characters straight and to have an understanding of just who was talking. The fifth letter was disappointing and somewhat of a let down after the build up to uncover its author. I kept reading expecting more that didn’t deliver.
The concept was good, four friends and what is going on underneath their seemingly great relationships. But the writing was sluggish and shallow. Hard to stay focused until the end. Characters could have been developed so much more. Disappointed
I found the writing pretty basic. I would have liked more character development.
Pretty good. Kept me reading and did not guess the end.
This was an Ok book. I had a hard time reading it . The writing was some what stilted and simplistic.
