NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The fifth book in Diana Gabaldon’s acclaimed Outlander saga, the basis for the Starz original series. Don’t miss the new Outlander novel, Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone, available November 23! “A grand adventure written on a canvas that probes the heart, weighs the soul and measures the human spirit across [centuries].”—CNN The year is 1771, and war is coming. Jamie …
The year is 1771, and war is coming. Jamie Fraser’s wife tells him so. Little as he wishes to, he must believe it, for hers is a gift of dreadful prophecy—a time-traveler’s certain knowledge.
Born in the year of Our Lord 1918, Claire Randall served England as a nurse on the battlefields of World War II, and in the aftermath of peace found fresh conflicts when she walked through a cleftstone on the Scottish Highlands and found herself an outlander, an English lady in a place where no lady should be, in a time—1743—when the only English in Scotland were the officers and men of King George’s army.
Now wife, mother, and surgeon, Claire is still an outlander, out of place, and out of time, but now, by choice, linked by love to her only anchor—Jamie Fraser. Her unique view of the future has brought him both danger and deliverance in the past; her knowledge of the oncoming revolution is a flickering torch that may light his way through the perilous years ahead—or ignite a conflagration that will leave their lives in ashes.

Great book as usual. The story is the best.Wish the tv program hadn’t stopped. My husband and I were fans.
This is one of a series of books that contain the epic love story of Jamie and his Sassenach, Claire. Claire was caught up in the crack of a henge stone that threw her 200 years in the past. She is caught up in life and death struggles and Jamie saves her and tries to teach her how to live in the highlands of Scotland.

Book 5 of the finest historical fiction series I have ever read. Diane Gabaldon’s research is thorough, her storytelling magical.
I’m reading the Outlander series in audiobook form, and I’ve been doing so for almost a year, listening on my 25-minute commute and sometimes while I fold laundry or cook dinner. The sound of Davina Porter’s voice is a treasure. Diana Gabaldon’s stories, her characters, and her prose are an elixir. I have walked out of stressful meetings in a …

It’s so cool to follow Claire Randall through history, a wife, mother, and surgeon chasing the love of her life, Jamie Fraser, across two different centuries, from Scotland to the Colonies. This story is not only entertaining but a compelling blend of fantasy and history.
Gabaldon is amazing – I await each of her books with enthusiasm!
