NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • The fifth book in Diana Gabaldon’s acclaimed Outlander saga, the basis for the Starz original series. Don’t miss the new Outlander novel, Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone, available November 23! “A grand adventure written on a canvas that probes the heart, weighs the soul and measures the human spirit across [centuries].”—CNN The year is 1771, and war is coming. Jamie …
The year is 1771, and war is coming. Jamie Fraser’s wife tells him so. Little as he wishes to, he must believe it, for hers is a gift of dreadful prophecy—a time-traveler’s certain knowledge.
Born in the year of Our Lord 1918, Claire Randall served England as a nurse on the battlefields of World War II, and in the aftermath of peace found fresh conflicts when she walked through a cleftstone on the Scottish Highlands and found herself an outlander, an English lady in a place where no lady should be, in a time—1743—when the only English in Scotland were the officers and men of King George’s army.
Now wife, mother, and surgeon, Claire is still an outlander, out of place, and out of time, but now, by choice, linked by love to her only anchor—Jamie Fraser. Her unique view of the future has brought him both danger and deliverance in the past; her knowledge of the oncoming revolution is a flickering torch that may light his way through the perilous years ahead—or ignite a conflagration that will leave their lives in ashes.

Book 5 of the outlander series. This was the slowest book of the series, but great background of the politics of the time leading up to the revolutionary war
I have read all of the books in this series (back before Kindles and e-readers) and loved carrying around the large tomes and read and re-read all of them. This is my favorite book series, cheers to Diana Gabledon!!!
Super awesome
Another wonderful book in the Outlander Series. I’m going to be sad when there are no more of them to read!
This book is probably the most difficult of the Outlander series to get into, but still a good book by an outstanding author.
What more can be said about this series? You should start at The Outlander and read each book, they are all fabulous! Fantastic true to life characters, you’ll be drawn in immediately.
I feel it took a really long time to get to The exciting parts of the book

love the whole series
I have read the entire Outlander series and loved all the books and the audiobooks. This is one of books in the middle of the series and continues the story of Jamie and Claire and their extended family. In my opinion, the first book was the best of the series but I liked them all.
Long, this series is the basis for television “Outlander”
Part of a series better read in sequence. Time travel.
I’ve read all of Gabaldon’s books and promote them any chance I get! They are so thoroughly researched that you feel like you’re living in the 1700’s, right along with the characters. A must for fans of historical fiction!
