The agreement is for one year of companionship. Once the year is complete, the Infidelity employee and the client to which they’ve been tethered must mutually agree to the relationship in order for it to continue. When Quincy Herald chooses not to renew her agreement with billionaire hotelier Jean LaRue, he doesn’t take the news well, deciding to force her to stay against her will. That’s when … when Brian Glover, mercenary and co-owner of a high-end BDSM club in North Carolina, is called in for his services.
With the help of his computer genius coworker, and the distraction of his gorgeous secret lover, the pressure is on for Brian to rescue Quincy before it’s too late.
Note from the Author
This novella can be read as a standalone. Brian is one of the four main characters in my Club Alias series. They are a group of Doms who own a BDSM club, but are also mercenaries who work tirelessly to clear up bad guys who slip through the judicial system’s cracks. Those evil people who escape justice with their loads of money and fancy lawyers—my guys take care of them and make it all look like karma.
To catch up on my Club Alias series, you can find them on Amazon in this reading order:
Before the Lie (Confession Duet Book 1)
Truth Revealed (Confession Duet Book 2)
Seven
You can also find the Confession Duet in a boxed set, both books inside one cover for a special price.

I’ve been a fan of KD Robichaux since she wrote No Trespassing, then the Confessions Duet, then Seven. She’s mentioned Brian and Clarice will have more than one novella in Kindle Worlds, but this is, in my opinion, a complete stand alone story. This can easily be read without having read any other of her books (although I highly recommend any of KD’s books).
The relationship between Brian and Clarice is a slightly unique one. They only meet up when Brian has an out of town job. And the missing person job he has in this story ends with a bit of a twist. It was not exactly what I expected. And loved Clarice’s “game” with her photos she takes.
All in all, one of the best written novellas I’ve read.
3.5 stars. I enjoyed reading about Brian and Clarice in a different world. I know novellas are supposed to be short, but this one felt it. I would have loved just a little more…. more. Despite that, I still loved these characters!
This is definitely not your normal romance novel. There isn’t really a HEA, but there is a satisfactory conclusion to the story. There is really 2 focuses of the story, the “rendezvous” between the main characters, Clarice and Brian, and the mystery to be solved. The main characters come from KD Robichaux’s Alias series, and the mystery comes more from Aleatha Romig’s Fidelity Kindle World. As advertised in the blurb, this isn’t really an entire story, but more a part of a bigger story. It is an excellent intro to both series, and definitely pulled me in. I’ve read KD Robichaux’s Alias series, and this definitely fits right in with the other books. I’m not familiar with the Fidelity world, and its not necessary to read them to enjoy this novella. However, I’m intrigued enough that I’m going to have to look up Aleatha Romig’s series, and I guess that really says it all.
Clarice and Brian are a couple that really aren’t a couple. They are friends, but more. Robichaux definitely left me wanting more, but I’m don’t really feel like its left unfinished, or that its a cliff hanger. I feel like she accomplished what was meant to be done in this novella, but hinted at more to come. She has said that there will be a series of novellas with Clarice and Brian, spanning several different Kindle worlds, and ending with their own novel and HEA. To me, this is something I’ve not seen done before, and I’m really looking forward to it! If you are a fan of Robichaux, you definitely don’t want to miss this one. If you haven’t read any of her stories, then you should totally catch up! All of her books are worth the read.

Short read but oh my it certainly does pack a punch with all the steaminess KD managed to pack into it. I really enjoyed reading this short story about Knight aka Brian so much I can’t wait for more about him in the future. So if you are looking for my advice well it would be get this book because I can guarantee that you definitely won’t be disappointed in getting it. KD Robichaux is extraordinary talented at weaving her stories and I would’ve given this book more than five measly stars because it deserves so much more.
Brain and Clarice’s novella was amazing! Just a short glimpse into their lives but it was enough to keep you wanting more while still feeling satisfied by what you got! I cannot wait to read more about these two! Also that epilogue is on fire!
