Great book even though I wish it were longer!
All I can say is WOW and I want more! I received a free copy of this book from the author and since Kovak was an unknown for me and it was listed as young adult; I kind of , sort of, just pushed it into the to be read pile. (Don’t judge). I had just finished another paranormal book and was browsing through my reader when I came across the cover and thought what the heck. I regret not reading it the day I got it – Amazing, I was sucked in to the story almost immediately and unable to put it down until I finished , it was long after my bedtime. If this is in your TBR pile or if you have not read it yet and paranormal is your genre- grab it and read it, you will not be disappointed – I love authors who can bring you in and keep you on edge throughout the story and Kovak did that. Looking forward to the next book, I have to know what happens!!
Wow… That was a ride. It was dark and exciting in equal parts. I loved the characters and the plot. The pacing was smooth and the writing top notch. The main character was great, her internal dialog kept me laughing. But I was also able to feel her fear and pain. My biggest complaint is that it was too short, I wanted more. Although I’m not happy with how it ended (that’s just me being greedy and not wanting it to end), I’m anxiously awaiting the next part. I NEED to know what happens.
The succubus angle reminded me of the tv show Lost Girl (which I loved), with her not knowing anything about who or what she is. Even though her world is almost literally falling down around her, she keeps her wits about her, which I have to respect.
The darkness of the book was what really drew me in. The descriptions of the blood and gore and completely animalistic nature of some of the characters, kept my eyes glued to my tablet. It was dark and at times depraved and almost taboo, I freaking loved it.
I absolutely recommend this book.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
WOW! I don’t know what I was really expecting this book to be, but this wasn’t it. Such an original story. I think I was expecting more of a PR, and there were elements of that, but this is more UF. Since I love both of those genres I really enjoyed this book. There were graphic sex scenes, and some violence, which I don’t have a problem with, but it could trigger someone who has experienced sexual assault. The story really gripped me for some reason. I literally couldn’t put it down. When I finished it I sat there just staring at the last word trying to wrap my head around the direction the book was headed. UGH! This book is like a drug and I need my next fix. I can’t wait to read the next one.
