A sexy standalone romance from #1 NYT Bestseller Lauren Blakely! That inked bad boy who’s been flirting hard with me since he rode into town? Turns out he’s my new housemate, which is one heck of a problem since our chemistry is so hot it should be illegal. I have a fantastic family, great best friends, a job I love…and now I’m up for a promotion to police sergeant. I need total focus–not a … promotion to police sergeant. I need total focus–not a flirty, dirty, irresistible, tattooed hottie riding into my town on his motorcycle. Can I arrest him for being too good-looking? When he kisses me senseless in the back of a waffle truck, it’s criminal, the things he makes me think about hot syrup and melted butter. One order of hot, fluffy hookup to go, please. But the next time I see him, it’s not for our date with benefits. He’s the guy who just rented the room above my garage. I need the rent to pay my bills, not a man like Derek, who I soon discover to be strong, caring, generous, good with kids, and kind to puppies… If I’m not careful, he’ll be moving into my heart as well as my house.

A no-strings-attached fling with the fiery redhead who revs my engine? Why, yes, that does sound like a delicious perk of my new job in this new town, thank you very much. I’m coming off a bad relationship, and I have zero interest in anything serious. I’ve got all the serious I need helping my sister take care of her three little kids while her husband is deployed. Except, surprise! Perri isn’t just my future fling. Turns out she’s my sexy, sassy landlord. A lease definitely counts as “strings attached,” and as much as I’d like to get tangled in her sheets, I can’t let myself get tangled up in a relationship. But as soon as we put the cuffs on our escapades, I learn over late-night conversations in the kitchen, that my landlord is so much more than the sexiest woman I’ve ever met- she has a quick mind and the biggest heart. Once I’m in, I’m all in. And to convince her that we should see where this goes, I plan on turning up the heat–and not just in the kitchen.more
Lauren Blakely has put pen to paper and nailed another steamy, sexy romance. Instant chemistry between Perri and Derek sets the tone for the entire book.
Paramedic and utterly sexy Derek rides into town to help his sister and meets Perri, a police officer, in an unexpected way. From that moment that the beautiful, red head pulled him over Derek was hooked. Perri’s focus is on work and trying to not attract the wrong kind of man. Perri is a strong willed and independent woman who has set forth boundaries that she does not want to overstep. Derek is an inked bad boy that loves his family and returns to Lucky Falls community where he cares for those he loves and the patients he helps.
Perri and Derek’s journey through friendship leads to some heart swooning moments filled with thumping hearts and an anticipation of what is to come. One also cheers on Perri and Derek, two fun loving individuals, wishing they end up together, deserving their happily ever after.
I loved reading every moment of this book.
4.5 Stars
“I won’t be thinking a thing about you.”
“But I’ll be thinking of you, officer.”
“Do us all a favor and obey the law. Can you do that?”
I wink. “Anything for you.”
Officer Perri Keating loves her life in her small town, she’s got a great job and great friends and she’s up for a big promotion that she’s worked so hard for. In order to seal the deal on this promotion she needs to focus and she definitely doesn’t need any distractions, especially the tattooed, sexy, and male variety. But when she pulls over Derek McBride as he rolls into town on his motorcycle, she can’t get this delicious bad boy out of her head. Derek can’t stop thinking about Perri either but he’s also not in the market for a relationship after having just gotten out of a bad situation. But a no-strings attached fling is definitely on the menu. When he unexpectedly ends up renting the room above Perri’s garage, however, the temptation to keep things casual may prove to be too much for them. Will they be able to keep their focus solely on the feel good factor of their arrangement or will their hearts lead them down a different path?
‘She’s in my head and under my skin, and I want her more than I want world peace, and hey, I’d really like world peace.’
Holy hotness! Lauren Blakely’s stories are always addicting but this one took everything up a notch! I don’t think she’s ever written a hero OR a heroine quite like Derek and Perri before but I LOVED it! Derek was a bit of a bad boy but had a total heart of gold. He may ride a motorcycle and sport some sexy tattoos but he was loyal and thoughtful and super sweet. He’ll rev your engine with his dirty talk and then melt your heart with how we takes care of his nieces and nephew. Then there’s Perri, she was bad-ass. I loved her. She more than held her own in a male dominated field but she also had a vulnerable side that made her very relatable. These two were on fire together, this may be Lauren Blakely’s sexiest book to date! I loved how direct both of them were with each other. There were no games and pretty low drama. I just really enjoyed this story and I loved seeing some old “friends” pop up from previous books. And I am very much looking forward to reading about Vanessa and Shaw next!
‘…get in, do the work, go the distance.
But there’s always temptation to lose focus, and Derek McBride is the strongest temptation I’ve ever known. ‘
I received an ARC in return for an honest review. My first impression was that i wasn’t going to like it. I’m not going to lie Derek definitely wasn’t what I expected. He is described as a bad boy but just because he has tattoos and rides a bike that doesn’t make him one and he is not. Now, the story is cute but the whole kissing contest was a total turnoff for me. Overall it was a good story. Just not what I was expecting.
The Feel Good Factor by Lauren Blakely is a molten hot stand alone romance. Perri is a kick-ass cop and when she meets Derek he is sinfully delicious. The only problem? It turns out that he is going to be her tenant. Derek is madly attracted to Perri, but he’s not in a place where he is looking for strings and fate just had to make her his landlady. The good news for us? They are going to be able to get to know each other.
These characters are made for each other. A blend of opposites with a ton in common as well. Both are more than meets the eye and their chemistry is off the charts. I like how the immediate passion was there, since it started out as a fling, but then we were able to dig deeper and build something dynamic and special between them. Perri and Derek are characters you will fall in love with.
Overall I very much recommend The Feel Good Factor as Lauren Blakely has outdone herself again. Bringing both passion and depth, this is a read to pick up and devour.
(I voluntarily reviewed an advance review copy of this book I received for free in exchange for my open and honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.)
The Feel Good Factor by Lauren Blakely did exactly that, it made me feel good. I love the fact that both Perri and Derek are both first responders. Perri a police officer and Derek a paramedic. When Perri pulls a hot as heck motorcycle riding tattooed bad boy over for speeding, there is no denying the chemistry between them. It is so fun to watch this story unfold, because in a small town, you never know who or what will happen. These two are a match made in heaven even when they are both adamant that they don’t want a relationship. Every character in this book will put a smile on your face. The relationships between family and friends is just one one the many reasons I love reading Lauren’s books!
The Feel Good Factor gave me the feel good factor. I loved Derek and Perri. Oh my goodness the banter between Perri and Derek is pretty funny, their chemistry is off the charts HOT! I really enjoyed this story
This was really good overall. I’m giving it 3.5 out of 5 stars. This review is for an ARC, and reflects my honest opinion.
First off, oh em geeeeee I swooned hardcore over Derek. A sexy, tattooed biker who loved his family, and was amazing with kids?!? I think my heart (and ovaries) burst from everything he embodied in this book. I also liked Perri a lot. She was sweet, sassy, and despite her tough outer shell, she was a softie. Another thing I really enjoyed was seeing some characters from previous books making appearances.
I could never be a cop, EMT, or firefighter, but I’m so glad there are people like these characters that can handle the pressure and danger of those jobs. We saw several calls Derek went on, but I honestly thought we’d see more of Perri on the job besides being in the precinct and talking to her boss/coworker. I expected more danger for sure!
I was debating 4 stars for this. I enjoyed it, and Lauren’s books are always fast reads, but this didn’t resonate with me as much as some of her others have. The connection between these two was a mixture of slow burn with hot and heavy. I didn’t feel like any obstacles were in place besides their own stubbornness. Plus, while I liked this one, there was a lot of day to day stuff without anything super exciting going on. I was expecting something dramatic to happen, and it didn’t. Definitely not a bad read, but not my favorite either.
Oh. My. Word. This book is like one continuous ovary explosion! If you love sexy bad boys with a soft side and strong, uninhibited females then The Feel Good Factor is most definitely for you. Lauren Blakely’s newest offering is sweet, epically sexy, and funny. This standalone, feel-good story (natch) is probably one of her hottest to date and definitely one of my new favorite stories!
Let’s start with Perri who we met in Ms. Blakely’s Best Laid Plans. She’s a badass police officer who is most definitely my soul sister. She’s unafraid to speak her mind and that mind is as dirty as it comes! She’s a loyal friend, driven to succeed and is beloved in her small town of Lucky Falls. She has no desire to be in a relationship, but what she does crave is smokin’ hot, knock-your-socks-off sex with bad boys. Enter Derek who fits the bill perfectly. He rolls into town on his motorcycle, all dark, handsome and tatted up and Perri basically melts. But Derek isn’t all sex and sin. Oh no, no, no. Blakely gave this man a soft, gooey center that pretty much fried my brain. The way he is with his nieces and nephew? No, seriously….I’m dead!!!! I’m talking the total and complete package. It’s no wonder he’s the feel-good factor!!! Perri and Derek have intense chemistry from the start. Their filthy minds and dirty mouths make them the ultimate match made in heaven. And they even made *me* blush which is not easy to do! I loved the ease of their relationship. It’s just that perfect! Blakely always gives us memorable, real characters that we readers can identify with and Perri and Derek are no exception.
There was so much about this story that I loved. The secondary characters, who we’ve already met in Best Laid Plans (if you’ve read it previously) are all stellar. Small towns always breed interesting characters and Lucky Falls has a ton of fun ones. I loved the adorable plot that brought Perri and Derek together. It’s fun, sweet and it’ll have you laughing out loud. I loved the heat that was perfectly written. I felt the electricity between our main characters jumping right off the page. Let’s just say I was rooting for these characters the moment that they met. The connection was instantaneous. I also loved that Blakely gave previews of what’s to come for Shaw and Vanessa in their upcoming story Nobody Does It Better. She piqued my interest and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for them. In a nutshell, The Feel Good Factor is a 5-star story you most definitely should NOT miss.
It’s impossible to say one of Lauren’s books is my favorite. And it’s even more impossible to pick a favorite guy she’s written. But this book and Derek are for sure on the list. The flirting and banter between Derek and Perri is the stuff romcom dreams are made of. And that flirting led to some pretty serious steam.
With this book the what you see is what you get! It was such a fun book that had me smiling, laughing, gave me all the feels, and brought me back to happy and feeling oh so good just as its title would suggest!
I bsolutely adored Derek and Perri! They were freaking adorable and with that signature Blake quirkiness that makes all her characters that much more interesting and relatable. I loved the way their relationship grew and expanded. It felt so plausible and real and I just rooted for them the entire time. Plus they’re just such kickass characters that I wanted to jump into the pages and let them adopt me into their circle of friends! How fun would that be?! I cannot wait for the next book.
How much do I love Lauren Blakely? More and more with each amazing book she publishes and The Feel Good Factor is no different. Just as quickly as I’m running out of words to describe how much I love said books, she keeps coming up with all the words to put in more books! And pardon the pun, but each one has that Feel Good Factor that keep me coming back for more. Every. Single. Time! 5 Stars.
4.5
Someone need to tell me where all the Dereks are in this world because he is perfect! I absolutely loved his character and love his heart. He is such a genuinely good guy who happens to be dirty, which really is the best. I really enjoyed how strong of a woman Perri is. She has such a good heart and she is trying to be the best she can. These two have sizzling chemistry and I love how they fit together. Their story was fun and cute and I throughly enjoyed it!
I think I’m really running out of adjectives to use on my reviews of Lauren’s books. Every one is as much as good or better than the last one. Lauren writes believable characters. People like us with common jobs and great friends. In every book I fall in love with the town, the secondary characters, the pets, everything! The Feel Good Factor is no different. Derek and Perry are two people trying to live their lives, help their families and enjoy their friends. They think they don’t want a relationship, but we know better, right? I love to read books where the main characters do their best to not fall in love, or to deny that love until it is in their face. All the build up, makes me want to read in one sitting. I love this book and can’t wait to read the next one in this world.
The Feel Good Factor was a sexy fun story. Perri and Derek had that instant connection. Their chemistry was off the charts and they had great banter. I loved their interactions-they were sweet, steamy, and entertaining. On their own, Perri and Derek were magnificent characters. They are who they are and they complemented each other perfectly. They had a deeper layer to them and that was fascinating to get to know their true personalities. I also enjoyed seeing the friendships amongst the characters. Lauren always does a great job at connecting her characters and giving that family atmosphere. But the relationship between Perri and Derek was the spotlight and I just couldn’t get enough off these two. I truly enjoyed every minute of this book as I read it. It was awesome. This was definitely a feel good read!
P.S. I am excited for Vanessa and Shaw’s story 🙂

Derek McBride checks off all the boxes for the perfect book boyfriend. He’s smart, funny, and a whole lot of sexy rolled into a delicious package. With him it’s not all about the looks though. He’s a great guy too! Not only does he literally save lives as a paramedic, but he’s loving, loyal, and protective. And wait till you see him around kids. How can you not fall for this guy?!?
Perri is amazing. I love her wit and sarcasm. She doesn’t take crap from anyone and can get pretty sassy with the time calls for it. She’s independent and self-sufficient, and doesn’t have time nor energy to devote to a relationship. But she definitely has a type, and Derek is it. It’s fun to try and watch her resist the inevitable.
These characters are two peas in a pod. Their witty banter is charming and their dirty banter is off-the-charts hot. I love the slow-burning chemistry with the white-hot moments. It all blends together into a fun, sexy, flirty story with plenty of feels to make you fall in love. Another winner from Lauren Blakely!
Perri is my kind of heroine. Her strength, her sass, and her intelligence are qualities that allow her to go head-to-head with her male co-workers. But regardless of Perri’s need for no distractions or her desire to focus solely on her career as a cop, advancing through the ranks and holding her own in a male-dominated world, she can’t help but be attracted to Derek, and when they become roommates, she can longer deny that Derek just might be worth the distraction.
The idea that there’s more about a person than his outward appearance applies for Derek. He may look like the quintessential tattooed bad boy – one who rides a motorcycle, has a filthy mouth, and a dirty mind – but there’s so much more to this driven EMT, and Lauren Blakely does a great job illustrating all of his layers and why Derek is the man Perri wants and needs to make her feel good forever.
Roommates who become lovers can be both a blessing and a curse…I mean, don’t get me wrong, it’s so damn good when you’re in the thralls of passion and it’s always a good thing when someone else supplies you with orgasms, but the fallout of this kind of situation can lead to more than just hurt feelings, and while it seemed like both Perri and Derek knew what they were getting into, anything can happen when feelings become a part of what’s supposed to be only a fling.
Any time I pick up a Lauren Blakely romantic comedy, I know I’m in for a quirky, sweet, steamy, and hilarious read and Blakely does not disappoint in her newest release, The Feel Good Factor, and let me tell you, she couldn’t have crafted two better characters as her leading man and lady than Perri and Derek. The sexual tension that surrounds them resonates from the pages and it’s clear that it’s not a matter of IF, but WHEN these two will finally give into their attraction and see just how good they can make one another feel.
4 Poison Apples
Talk about a book living up to its name! The Feel Good Factor definitely had me feeling good! This book was sassy, sexy and sweet. I loved every minute of it and can’t wait to read it again.
I loved getting to know Perri in this book. She’s an interesting mix of tough and sweet, and I found that to be extremely relatable. She’s focused, driven and comfortably independent. That to me made it all the sweeter to watch her learn how to lean on someone other than her best girlfriends, Arden and Vanessa. I could definitely see myself being friends with Perri!
Derek. Oh, holy wow. So I have a list of book boyfriends…and then I have a list of Lauren Blakely book boyfriends. Derek ALMOST knocked my all time favorite Blakely boyfriend off his pedestal. Derek is smart, sweet, kind and insanely sexy. I loved getting to know him and I swear, I fell for him right from the start. I absolutely love him.
These two just have a spark right away. It’s undeniable, it’s inevitable. They try to resist it but once they come together? Wow. Their sexy times were scorchingly hot. Their first kiss? Well, if I were in a kissing contest I’d recreate that kiss. Sexy times aside, watching these two fall for each other and lean on one another was so satisfying to me.
Whenever I read a book from this Author I feel like I’m wherever the characters are-be it a small town or big city. The Feel Good Factor is no different. I felt like I could lift my eyes from the pages and be in the small town of Lucky Falls, go to a book club at Arden’s book store or go bowl with Vanessa. The writing just takes me there. I love seeing characters from other books mentioned, I get such a kick out of that. That being said this book IS a standalone.
The writing here is sharp and fun. The supporting characters are awesome-kids included. Sometimes kids in books don’t come off well; they’re either forgotten about or just don’t translate through the pages. That’s not the case here at all. The pacing here was perfect.
I was also lucky enough to listen to an audio of this book. These narrators really brought Perri and Derek to life. Erin Mallon just knocks it out of the park-she always does in my opinion. Joe nailed Derek; his tone and manner of speaking just was so perfectly Derek to me. These two play off each other very well and perform this book very well.
When I read a Lauren Blakely book I never want it to end….but I can’t help myself from devouring it. The Feel Good Factor was no different. This is a book that will stick with me and I know I’ll read it over and over. It is the perfect blend of sassy, sexy and sweet. I loved this book and absolutely recommend it.
Holy wow are Derek and Perri HOT!!! Their chemistry was just leaping off the page from the word go. I was immediately sucked into their flirtation and it was so palpable I thought they were real people that I was watching in person.
I loved Derek’s cocky attitude, filthy mouth but super sweet attitude with his nieces. And he cooks! Seriously, perfect man aka book boyfriend right there. And he loved that Perri was a cop and found her hot because of it. Some men aren’t as attracted to a strong woman but Derek definitely is.
And Perri. She is a stronger woman than I am. Multiple times in the book when things are going down, Perri just steps away. How do you back away from that temptation more than once!
Definitely a re-read for when I need a hot spicy book!
This book was just the perfect read for me!!!
Oh, my word! I can’t express how much I truly loved this book. It’s perfectly titled that’s for sure. No angst, no drama involving third parties and absolutely no hating on the H/`h. Derek was just a down-to-earth character with a ‘bad boy’ image, minus the reputation. This man looks like sex on a stick, he may talk the talk and by god, does he walk the walk, but that’s where the ‘bad’ ends. He’s in insta-lust/ love with Perri from the moment the Lucky Falls police officer pulls him over on his way into town.
The chemistry was scorching and hit from that initial encounter and only got hotter the longer they spent together. Being housemates didn’t help matters and they explosive connection they had when they gave in was just awesome.
Loved picking up with previous characters from the earlier books too. All in all, a perfect read for a weekend with no plans. Or, any other day of the week, lol. one-Click today, and get ‘The Feel Good Factor’ for yourself.
5 “Mr. Speedy and Miss Demeanor” stars!
The Feel Good Factor is a clever, entertaining romantic comedy that will make you laugh out loud, turn you on, give you the warm fuzzies, and make you fall in love. Unputdownable fun and a feel good read, I couldn’t get enough of Derek and Perri.
Derek moves to town to escape his past and help his sister with her three boys. He is not expecting to get pulled over by the hottest cop he’s ever seen and he definitely wasn’t expecting to be her new housemate. Sparks fly when they are together but both have their own reasons for keeping it casual. Too bad Perri and Derek are just too good together for only a fling and when feelings explode, everything changes.
“This man is going to ruin me in the best possible way.
While I don’t have the time or inclination for dating, dinners, or fitting someone into my very busy schedule, I’m pretty sure I could deal with a little ruination.
Yes, I could definitely do with getting ruined.”
Lauren Blakely knows how to write rom coms that are sweet and spicy with a whole lot of humor and heart. From the sexual tension and amazing chemistry to the dirty talk and steamy sex, this book packs some serious heat. Add in fun and feels and you have a winner.
Derek and Perri are wonderful characters that I immediately adored. Derek is a sexy, flirty, dirty talker bad boy with a heart of gold. He is a wonderful brother and uncle and will do anything for family. Perri is witty and smart and has a fantastic personality. She’s fun to be around and sweet as can be and everybody loves her.
The moment Derek gets pulled over the attraction between him and Perri is instant and undeniable.
“Let’s get one thing straight,” he growls. “What this is? It’s not attraction. It’s stronger. More intense. It’s red-hot fucking desire. It’s raw and it’s carnal, and it’s so much dirtier than attraction.”
They try to keep it “kissing only” since anything more would complicate their relationship; however, the constant restraint proves difficult especially when both are trying to make the other break. Every kiss causes the pent up sexual tension to skyrocket. It is well written, palpable, and so dang hot.
“Up there, the games are over. No more resistance—no more toying. We give in to this.” I gesture from her to me. “We give in to what’s been happening from the second you pulled me over. I haven’t once stopped wanting you. I want you more every day. You’re under my skin and in my head, and right now, I need to fuck you. And you need to fuck me.”
Her breath hitches. “Is that what I need?”
“Only you know. But you sure look like you want to get on my cock and ride me.”
Derek and Perri complement each other perfectly, and I am not sure there was ever a chance in hell that they wouldn’t find their way from casual to more when they finally get to know each other. They are functional, honest, and fairly drama free. With fantastic banter and an easy friendship, they are natural together and so sweet.
The secondary characters are so much fun and I cant wait for more. Perri’s brother, Shaw, and her best friend, Vanessa’s story, Nobody does it Better, releases April 2019.
The Feel Good Factor was everything that I have come to love in a Lauren Blakely book – light, funny, sexy, swoon-worthy and an absolute delight to read. Although the two leads did leave me frustrated and wanting to throw my kindle at times. They were both so stubborn and trying their best to fight something that was ultimately inevitable in the end.
This book takes us back to Lucky Falls and follows the story of Derek and Perri. Derek McBride is scruffy, covered in tats, rides a motorcycle and looks the part of your typical bad boy. This is what captures the attention of the feisty, sassy and witty local cop, Perri Keating. The chemistry between these two is scorching hot and you can just feel the heat radiating off of the pages. But neither has any desire to be in a relationship as they have both been burned by love in the past. They are strictly to be friends and housemates or at least that’s the plan. The sexual tension between them is so palpable and despite their best efforts, feelings soon develop and all of the rules go right out the window.
The Feel Good Factor is an amazing read that is very well written. I absolutely loved Derek and Perri together. I truly believe the readers will fall head over heels for them just as I did. Lauren Blakely is an author that I have truly grown to love. Everything she writes is like pure gold to me and this one is no different. 5 Fantastic Feel Good Stars!
