Follow Hiram Kane on another thrill ride, this time in Central Mexico. These books are always tense and exciting, filled with history backed up by solid research. A great read!
I had never listened or read anything by this author because it’s not my preferred genre but am glad I have now. I listened to the whole thing in one sitting. I just couldn’t hit stop or even pause it is that good. I also wasn’t too lost in the series as it seems these are stand alone worthy as well.
The plot is what drew me in. The Aztec aspect actually. It was fast paced, action packed & just bizarre enough for my liking.
I highly recommend this audiobook.
This was a great way to either close the series, or give it a chance to spin off in a new direction. Plenty of save the day action, and enough suspense to keep you glued to the book until the end. Luckily it isn’t one of the lengthier Kane adventures, because I didn’t want to stop before the end. An excellent original story. I received a free review copy of this audio book in exchange for an honest review.
We meet Danny who doesn’t confided much to others, a friend with the
bartender and the couple playing their music. He seems more depressed.
Only saying the family wouldn’t forgive him, especially after this many years. An anonymous letter to Hiram and he fly’s immediately to Mexico.
30 years, they looked as though twins, the why’s Danny felt inferior.
Regret, and how proud he had been of all Hiram had accomplished, he keep tracked, always from a distance.
Day long celebration in this little town, didn’t end the same this year. 12 girls are missing, Young 12-13 age from poor families, and most never away from their small town.A television announcement caught Hiram attention, a man addressing him, and the outcome of these girls, to do as he says.
How had they known he would be here, his gut saying there would be trouble ahead. The man was an archeological and he wanted the fame that he felt had been denied him. Another captivating adventure. As well as learning about Mexico, the places, and the beauty of it.
The Feathered Serpent by Steven Moore is full of vivid imagery, a missing brother, and adventure. The story moves non-stop. I really enjoyed the Aztec references in the story and thought they added another original layer and dimension to the character of Hiram Kane. Finding out about his missing brother was a plus. Kenneth Bryant was great performing this book. He gave the characters distinguishable voices. I requested this review copy audiobook and have voluntarily written this review.
I enjoyed The Feathered Serpent. I was given a free copy of this audiobook at my request in exchange for an honest review. It is another great story by Steven Moore. An adventure, a missing brother and a madman performing sacrifices. What else could go wrong? Read to find out. I recommend this book.
I liked the book but the story was like a lot of books I read before of Archeologists searching or protecting something. The main characters are interesting in that it has been Many, Many yrs since they had seen each other. This is a enjoyable listen (on Audible) no matter it’s similarities to other books.
If you’ve followed the Hiram Kane adventures so far, you know Kane is a hero with a rich history. Throughout these novels we learn more and more about his past, his family, and those he loves. In the Feathered Serpent he reunites with his long lost brother, and together, along with his intrepid girlfriend Alex Ridley and a cast of interesting supporting characters, they solve the mystery of a mass abduction of young girls in a historic Mexican town. Along the way, like with all of Steven Moore’s novels, we learn some of the rich history and culture behind the story. It’s this backdrop and these subplots that flesh each Hiram Kane adventure into a modern Indiana Jones style, swashbuckling adventure. In this case the setting is among the ruins of the great ancient civilizations of central Mexico, where the quest for scientific glory has poisoned the mind of a noted archaeologist into heinous acts in order to take his place in infamy. Can Hiram and friends solve his riddles and save the lives of the innocent victims? You already know the answer to that, but its a fun ride getting there.
The FeThe Feathered Serpent, my fifth read from author Steven Moore. Reminiscent of author Dan Brown & (James) Rollinsesque in the action that never lets up until the end. Well-written action-thriller, with well-developed characters. Narrator Kenneth Bryant’s narration again made this re-read so very enjoyable! “I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.” With every book written Moore gets better & better. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 – July 24, 2018).
Shades of the Perils of Pauline…allow a full day (hopefully NOT centered on a hospital procedure) for this PG15 thriller. I read a long-delayed Advance Reader Copy and this voluntary review is my own opinion.
This is a fast paced, full of action thriller that will satisfy anyone’s craving for a good novel.
A disgraced professor with a grudge. Hiram Kane’s brother has been missing for 30 years. He receives a message that his brother Danny is alive and is in Mexico. He ans his girlfriend, Alex Ridley, head to find his brother. 12 young girls go missing from their homes. Hiram and Alex get involved to help find the missing girls. This is a page turner thriller with an exciting ending.
Damn fine writing. The author expertly builds up the suspense and keeps the action flowing right to the end. He takes you on an emotional rollercoaster as the characters progress through the book. The individuals motivations are explored giving the reader inside into what makes them tick. The characters lift off the pages and their experiences touched me as a reader. This book, while a thriller is also a study in human nature. The setting, a peaceful and beautiful town contrasts with the evil stirring beneath the surface. This book is one of those that will stay with me for a long time. As this is the first book I have read from this author, I knew I wanted more and have purchased another book from him.
This book keeps you turning the page to see what is going to happen next. One man is drinking his life away with regret for the past, another is moving towards madness in his desire for fame. Their paths cross in an explosive read. I really enjoyed the action packed story line. This was my first book by the author and I am looking forward to reading more.
This is an original story featuring British explorer and adventurer Hiram Kane who discovers that his brother, who was assumed to be dead, is actually living as a bar-fly in a small Mexican town. Hiram and his girlfriend head off to find him.
Of course, there is trouble when 12 young girls are kidnapped during a night time festival.
The story is involved and clever, and the action sequences are certainly exciting, however my enjoyment was rather tempered by the overly melodramatic style of narration, but this is purely a matter of taste.
I did like the characters, although I found the way that several of the supporting characters, despite being rather dissolute were prepared to assist Hiram and put their lives at risk to be a bit unbelievable.
So a good read, but just not to my taste.
I received an advance copy of the book and have voluntarily written this honest review.

Meanwhile in Mexico after a big festival 12 young girls go missing! When reunited with his brother a disgraced archeologist who thinks he’s an ancient God challenges Hirim! This book was nonstop action, and adventure ! I loved the characters and the original plot! It was so well written I could picture the scenes clearly in my mind as if I was there! This was my first book by this author! I’m looking forward to reading the other books in the series! I found my new favorite author!
I was given a copy of this book by the author and I am voluntarily reviewing it. This is a great book, This is the first book by the author that I read. I am looking forward to reading the other books in the series.
“..and we believe that those who live wickedly and do not repent are punished in everlasting fire.”
Compassionate, brave, sensitive and intelligent, Hiram Kane is that and more. Feathered Serpent is a masterful effort, operating both at a slow burn and with a ratcheting intensity that comes to a stunning climax. With a taut plot and unpredictable twists…Arqueology and thrill is blended with vivid characters in circumstances that become more threat-filled by the hour. This book has a thrilling plot, history and myth of Mexico magnificently blended with heart-pounding scenes filled with blood and guts. Intense moments and thrilling scenarios feel the story with trepidation. The landscape, the culture is described lovingly, enhancing the beauty of its people and customs, the colours so vivid it made me feel I was really there. The storyline lends to a closer examination of the emotional and moral ethics stakes in life choices. I could see Moore’s way of thinking perfectly reflected here. A profound insight in sociology and behavioral aspects of humanity. Another thought provoking book in an excellent series!
