This was a nerve wrecking read and I cursed every time I had to put the book down. I feel like the plot thickens and I can’t wait for the next King book.
I love how I was kept wondering what is going to happen next. And the romance build between Frank and Journey is sizzling with feelings and chemistry.
All the characters is well written and I want to know what happens to them all. Robert manages to build a world that intrigues me and makes me want more.
There’s no unnecessary descriptions of surroundings and plenty of dialogues to keep the story going forward in a steady pace.
There’s also some steamy love scenes that’s tasteful but makes me blush.
If you like a book that keeps your interest and makes you don’t want to stop reading I recommend you jump on this one. 5
Sexy and Suspenseful
The Fearless King is a beautifully written story about strength, loyalty, and love. The characters are bold and passionate. The sparks between Journey and Frank will engulf your senses. The only thing more intoxicating than their passion is their vulnerability. Two wounded souls used to fighting their battles alone, come together as an unstoppable team. The suspense of the family power struggle adds drama and fuel to the flames. This book swept me into a world of subterfuge and desire. The growing emotional connection propels the characters on their path of self discovery and eventually love. I hope you leap into this story and fall madly in love with Journey and Frank, too!
Katee Robert is one of my auto-buy authors! THE FEARLESS KING is definitely one I will be recommending to all of my friends!

In Katee Robert’s latest book, The Fearless King, she manages to find a balance between sexy, steamy, action-packed and emotional that results in a crazy beautiful story between two unlikely people amidst a raging firestorm.
I was lucky enough to also read the first book in this series and it had me hooked. Not sure if the second book will live up to the expectation, I was positively blown away!
Journey King is one of four children, three of whom are required to help run the company her mother had worked to maintain before being exiled from Houston.
Her most stressful day would include issues with budgets not being adhered to and cocky employees. That is until the biggest demon from her past shows up claiming what he believes belongs to him.
With a dark shadow tailing her, she soon finds herself asking Frank Evans, a man of little words but with a great reputation, for help. Little do either of them know what obstacles lie ahead of them.
Frank had always found it impossible to keep his eyes off of the blonde beauty who would on occasion come to his club to unwind but he did not expect her to ask for his help. Frank is no fool, yet he knows this path will take him to places he’d much rather avoid at all cost.
It’s nearly impossible not to get wrapped up in the glitz, glamour, and drama that surrounds the Kings and their public image, but Katee manages to keep it interesting and interactive and you cannot help being eager to know what happens next.
Of course, with family comes ups and downs and it takes a lot to stand up to someone who knows just how to throw you over the edge when all you really want to do is fight against it.
I deeply appreciate Journeys’ story and it’s clearer now why things are the way they are when it comes to her reluctance. But even more than that. is that she isn’t as weak and fragile as she led herself and a lot of readers to believe. I would always and forever admire a strong female character and one that doesn’t constantly need to be saved but instead saves herself and finds her own strength.
How Katee Roberts manages to hit a home run with every one of her books is beyond my logical mind. But I don’t and won’t argue with that kind of magic.
First thought on finishing The Fearless King… ”that was fucking brilliant!!!”
I’m loving The Kings series and Katee Robert keeps hitting it out the park with these reads!
I’ve been looking forward to Journey’s story since she was introduced to us in The Last Thing and Ms Robert did not disappoint!
Journey King present to the world as a ballsy, strong, tough talking woman but under that hard shell she’s broken, a little busted and quite fragile and it take Frank Evans literally no time at all to spot this about her.
Frank has fought with everything he has to get to where he is in life and the last thing he has time for is a relationship of any kind, regardless of how attracted to Journey he might be!
When the pair embark on their fake relationship neither of them could imagine how things would turn out or just how much Journey would depend on Frank to keep her sanity and battle her father on his return to Houston – Mr Evans is a most unexpected knight in (not so) shining armour!!
Gripping and complex, TFK continued the story arc that began in book one of the series and it had me hooked from chapter one. Katee Robert has a wonderful writing style and is a definite auto-buy for me.
This is a solid 5* read that I’d most definitely recommend.
4.5 Stars
Katee Robert is such a master at family drama and suspense. In The Fearless King, the continuation of the King family drama starts off with another family member. The branches to their family tree proves that even some family can’t be trusted. A fact Journey King and her siblings are far to aware of.
In The Last King, cousin Beckett King, defeated his aunt and her attempts to rid him from the family. Now that she’s basically banished, there is a void that the worst of the worst shows up to fill.
Journey King was an incredible characters. Even in her weakest moments she showed incredible strength. Which also becomes more apparent when someone she cares about is in danger. She finds it hard to defend herself at times, but ALWAYS rises to the occasion to pretext someone she loves. Even when she was at her lowest, she didn’t like Frank Evans being her knight in shining armor. She didn’t want to be a damsel to be saved. She wanted help to gather the strength to save herself. It was incredible.
Frank Evans is one of the most powerful men in the city and can hold his own against a family as formidable as the Kings, so he has no hesitation when Journey comes to him for help.
Both characters shared incredible chemistry that started out as a fire fueled “frenemy” type relationship. They’d always had a strong friction between them during occasional business dealings but once they both let their guards down, falling was inevitable for them both.
This story was suspenseful from beginning to end and I’m looking forward to more adventures with the King family.
Katee Robert is a favorite author for a number of reasons, and all of them are present in her latest release, “The Fearless King.” There is passion, intensity, romance, wit, charm and excitement. She manages to tick all the boxes for me, plus a few I didn’t even know I had!
The second book in her “Kings” series, we get to follow Frank and Journey as they navigate their way to a happily ever after. Both characters were introduced in the first book, “The Last King,” and I was thrilled that their story was next.
Frank and Journey are both dealing with their own demons. Journey is living with a painful and devastating past. She finds herself not only asking for Frank’s help, but confiding in him, letting him into her tortured past when she had always hidden it from others. And Frank finds himself becoming more and more invested in Journey and their relationship than he ever thought he could be with someone.
For all the pain and struggles they both face, it’s clear that Frank and Journey are both strong, passionate people. And what makes them so compelling is that they not only realize that they are better as a team, but embrace their relationship. They save each other, in ways big and small.
Katee has a way of writing that just makes the story flow so effortlessly. You get sucked into a rich world full of interesting characters and situations. That was certainly the case with “The Fearless King.” And I’m already eagerly and impatiently awaiting the next story in the King saga.
Note: I received an advanced copy of this work in exchange for an honest review.
This is a captivating read that had me hooked from the beginning. I did not read the first book in the series and did not feel I missed a beat in this dysfunctional family. Journey King is running this business and doing a splendid job until her father decides to come back and try to take over. Yea, not if she has any say over it. Journey turns to the only person she can think of, Frank Evans. He is the only one who can dig up enough dirt to keep her father out of the business and it is going to take a lot of dirt and the dirtier the better. Will Frank and Journey be able to work together and keep it business or will it become more? Oh, this one was so good! I definitely recommend it!

This is the second book of The King’s series and it is the story of Journey King.
Journey has lived a nightmare and is coming out the other side. Until that nightmare reappears and everything she thought about herself is in question.
Frank Evans has watched Journey for years. He is closely connected to the other side of the family through his friendship with Beckett King and he is faithful to that friendship. But Journey brings out something in his soul and she needs his help.
I love the characters that Ms. Robert writes. They are always human, with flaws and weaknesses but the redemptive qualities are there, too. I can’t wait to continue this series.
Every single Katee Robert must be devoured in one sitting! I love fake boyfriend troupes and this is my favorite one yet. Journey King doesn’t let her defenses down, but around Frank Evans she’s willing to accept the help if it means defeating her father. A wonderful addition to the King series that’ll keep you on your toes!
I have been looking forward to Frank and Journey’s story after meeting them in Beckett and Samara’s book.
Journey King has learned the art of maintaining appearances and ruling her empire with a cool hand. After all, her mother was the Queen B in charge for long enough to provide a role model in that aspect. But the real introduction to putting up walls and showing no fear came much earlier in life at the hands of her sadistic monster of a father Elliott. That man still evokes real fear and hatred in the heart of all his children but for some reason Journey always bore the brunt of his focus. When he shows up to make a power play for the company he has showed zero interest in for years with the clear intention of making her life miserable in the process, Journey knows she needs help that only a man like Frank Evans can provide.
Frank is a fixer in every sense of the word, from the information he deals to the solutions he finds for problematic situations to the strays he tries to quietly help. He has no illusions about the fact that Journey is broken in some way but he knows he should steer clear. Not only is she his best friend’s estranged cousin, she pushes every single one of his buttons in a way that is dangerous to his sanity. He vowed after his mother died that he would never again allow himself to get emotionally entangled with someone who didn’t want to fight for themselves and he can’t quite get a handle on Journey’s issues- or how smart it is to look closer. But he can’t deny her request for help.
What starts as a business arrangement quickly becomes real. The sparks fly, and as Frank says- like recognizes like. They are more similar than they ever realized, and they each heal something in the other. That doesn’t mean it’s all rainbows and lollipops though. Aside from the havoc Elliott is creating while they try to figure out his endgame, they are faced with resistance from family and the specter of old racist views embedded in the older set of the Houston southern elitist ranks.
The Fearless King packs in plenty of suspense and heat for an enjoyable 2nd installment to this series. Three King siblings remain to have their demons exposed and I can’t wait to see which is next after finding out more about them. There is oldest brother Anderson who has always been the protector, youngest brother Bellamy who has some middle child issues, and baby sister Eliza who was drawn back into the family’s maddening dynamics in the most horrible way. Whichever one is up next, it is sure to be interesting!
No one does f**ked up parents and intricate sibling dynamics quite like Katee Roberts. Not to mention steamy scenes between lead characters who sometimes are not even sure they like one another. Add to the mix boardroom power-plays and fighting to stay alive and you have a recipe for a fantastic book. I adored Roberts’ O’Malleys series and this (King) series is shaping up to be just as good.
The Fearless King by Katee Robert is book Two in The Kings Series. This is the story of Journey King and Frank Evans. I have read the previous book and Journey and Frank were in that book, but this can be a standalone if you wish to do so. Journey mother has past and now Journey wants to secure her mother’s business but her evil father is back wanting to take over. Journey fears no one but past fears about her father does set her back. Thinking that Frank would be the perfect decoy for her to have him pretend they are in a relationship to help her stay strong. But feelings of her and Frank’s love / hate is turning more to love…but can these two strong people become one.
Enjoyed their story and this series!!
These dysfunctional Kings really bring out all the crazy in this one. When her father returns in an attempt to take back control of the family business, Journey King knows she is going to have to take drastic measures to prevent it. Turning to Frank Evans for help may be the most drastic measure of all. It’s no secret he isn’t a fan of the Kings but he is the only one who could turn up enough dirt to keep her father at bay. Helping Journey isn’t something Frank really wants to do but he knows that turning Journey down will be impossible for him. Posing as Journey’s boyfriend Frank begins to dig. Soon he realizes that he’ll do whatever it takes to keep Journey safe and happy.
This is a well done book and I love these characters. Definitely a book I recommend.
The Fearless King is definitely not what I thought it would be. It was better. I jumped into this series with this book and I have no regrets. (I need to go back and read book one though!)
Journey is the kind of woman I want to grow up to be. She is strong, smart, and when she gets out of her own head, a force to be reckoned with. Now, Frank on the other hand….
Frank is devilishly handsome, cunning, and a master planner. He is everything sexy about this book. The chemistry they have is delicious. Not gonna lie, I would totally take Frank home if my hubs weren’t in the picture. Protective, supportive, and sexy- that’s the stuff dreams are made of.
Enjoy The Fearless King because I have a feeling you may just fall for them all.
***5 Stars***
After reading The Last King, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the next book in the series and when I found out Frank was going to be our lead man, I was ALL over it ~ even before reading the blurb ~ and boy was it worth the wait! Intense, smexy and all kinds of craycray. This one definitely upp’d the ante in more than one way and I loved every second of it!
If you look in the dictionary under the world ‘Complex’ Journey’s picture would more than likely be there. She’s gone through hell, and though she still bears the scars, she’s found a way to not fall apart. She’s strong and determined and I love the way her mind works. Frank is all kinds of alpha AF delicious. Strong, dominant, compassionate and charming in his own special way. His life hasn’t been kind, but it’s turned him into a strong man who will do anything to protect his own.
Their journey to their HEA was an interesting one from the start. The smexy between them was nuclear and the battle of wills that happened every time they were around each other simply up’d the tension between them. But it was when they bared their souls and let each other in, well that was when I knew they were perfect for each other. Nothing between them was easy, but I loved how they ended up giving the other everything they never knew they needed.
The crazy in this dysfunctional family definitely got kicked up a few notches in this one. I knew it was going to be intense, but there were certain scenes that made my own skin crawl. The twists and turns were all thought out and executed and I’m looking forward to where the story goes from here. As for the secondary cast of characters, I loved catching up with Beck and Samara, and I’m definitely looking forward to getting to know the rest of the King siblings, as well as some of the Evans Inc men, better, but it’s Esther that I’m fascinated by and need to know more about!

THE FEARLESS KING is the second instalment in Katee Robert’s contemporary, adult THE KINGS erotic, romance series focusing on the King siblings and cousins. This is business owner and security expert Frank Evans, and Journey King’s story line. THE FEARLESS KING can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous instalment is revealed where necessary. Journey and Frank were first introduced in book one The Last King.
Told from several third person points of view including Journey and Frank THE FEARLESS KING picks up in the aftermath of Lydia King’s removal as CEO from the Kingdom Corp (The Last King), a position now eyed by her estranged husband Elliott Bancroft, a man despised by family and friends. Journey King, along with her brothers, Anderson and Bellamy, are making headway keeping King Corp running smoothly and efficiently until the arrival of Elliott Bancroft whose shares in the family owned business threatened the livelihood of the everyone involved, including our story line heroine. Desperate for help, Journey approaches fellow businessman and security specialist Frank Evans, in order to take down the man who wants to destroy them all. What ensues is the building relationship and romance between Journey and Frank, and the potential fall-out as desperation and madness push Elliott Bancroft over the edge in his attempt to secure power and more.
There is a dark and dangerous history between the King / Bancroft siblings and their father Elliott Bancroft, a history that threatens to crush our story line heroine but when Frank Evans becomes the target of her father’s wrath, Journey makes up her mind to take back everything she has lost including her self-esteem, pride and honor. Elliot Bancroft is nothing short of a monster, a monster who continues to taunt and prey on the children he is supposed to love.
The relationship between Journey and Frank is an enemies to lovers; a relationship predicated on a lie, meant to deflect the truth, and the real intent of our couple’s time together. One time frenemies in business, Frank and Journey must work together in order to take own Elliott Bancroft. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense.
We are reintroduced to the King siblings including new CEO Anderson King, Bellamy King, and model Eliza King; Elliott Bancroft, and his mother (the siblings grandmother) Esther Bancroft; Frank’s security team, former Green Beret Mateo, Ethan and Jose, as well as the return of Beckett King and Samara Mallick (The Last King #1).
The world building continues to focus on the fractured family dynamics of the King family, a dynasty of power hungry, spoiled rich heirs who don’t care who or what they destroy in the process of battling for control of the ultimate prize.
THE FEARLESS KING is a story of family, betrayal, vengeance and love. The premise is inviting and sensitive; the characters are sassy and spirited; the romance is provocative and seductive. THE FEARLESS KING is an intense and dramatic tale.
Journey can run a company like no one else but when her father shows up, all her insecurities return. Frank deals in information and real estate. When Journey comes to him for help with her father, they decide to “ pretend date “. Frank has always been the one to save people, so it seems strange to have someone trying to save him. Journey got him into this mess and she’ll do anything to get him out of it.
I know it’s short but I didn’t want to give too much away. Sex and action. Journey realizes she’s stronger than she thinks and Frank wants to be the one to show her. Excellent story and cannot wait for the next one.
* Voluntarily read and reviewed this for NetGalley *
In The Fearless King we get Frank and Journey’s story. We met both of them in book one as side characters. There is some major family drama going on that connects both couples and many of the side characters.
After Beckett forced Journey’s mom to leave the state in book one, that left her and her siblings open for their father, Elliott to come back and try to take their company from them. It isn’t as simple as a hostile takeover, Elliott is a monster and abused all four of his children when they were young.
It’s taken years for Journey to grow strong and feel like less of a victim, but all it takes is for her father to come back into her lives to take her right back to the abuse she suffered as a child. The only person she feels she can turn to is the last person she ever thought she would need.
Frank has become a man of power after that no one wants to mess with. He has his own past that have molded him into this new, harder man that he has become. Journey is dangerous to him since he can’t seem to stifle his fascination with her. When she comes to him for help, there is no way he can say no but not without adding a few strings to the deal.
Both books 1 and 2 have that opposites attract appeal to them. Journey and Frank can’t be more opposite in personality. Their chemistry was pretty off the charts. I’m a big fan of a strong Alpha character who protects and Frank is the very definition of these traits.
A lot of damage was done to the King family by the time all was said and done. There is so much the author can go in the next book in the series and I think I know who the next foe will be. I can’t wait to find out if I’m right.
4 1/2 STARS!
Heart-pounding intrigue! I didn’t know if it was possible for Katee Robert to match the raw potency of her The O’Malleys series, but she’s blowing me away once again with The Kings. Beckett’s story grabbed my heart in Book One and now she’s back with a powerful follow-up that has Journey reaching out to the one man she never thought she’d go to for help … and it’s delicious! Intense emotion and danger around every corner, characters that keep you on your toes keeping up with them, and top-notch heat and suspense. I think the backstory from Book One could have been woven in a little stronger in order to make it a true stand-alone for those who pick it up here, but overall a really phenomenal read to kick off this gal’s 2019!
Journey King is a cool cucumber when it comes to getting things done in the business world, but the one person who can bring her to her knees in defeat has returned to Houston intent on making a play on the company. She knows Frank should be an enemy of sorts since he was instrumental in getting her mother ousted from the company, but he’s is a powerful man and possible the only one that can put a stop to the train wreck her father intends to unravel.
Frank Evans knows the rival side of the King family opposite his best friend Beckett should be off-limits now that things have settled down, but he can tell there’s something to the fact that Journey is seeking him out. The fear in her eyes isn’t normal, and he can’t turn his back on that in the end. His pretending to be her boyfriend is the easiest way to get him close to Kingdom Corp and her family, but along the way the fake starts to feel all too real when the danger starts to overwhelm them!
