From internationally-acclaimed thriller writer Grant McKenzie comes a novel that hits perilously close to home, and will keep you guessing until the last page. What if everything you believed about the worst event in your life was a lie?Ian Quinn’s day begins with an anonymous death threat, but that’s not entirely unusual in his line of work as a court-ordered child protection officer. The … officer. The frustrated parents of his clients often need someone to lash out at and Ian makes sure that he is the easiest target.
But the threat is nothing compared to the envelope stuffed into his hand by a foul-smelling vagrant who mutters the cryptic message, He says he’s sorry” before scurrying away.
The envelope with his name scrawled across the front contains a lone visitor’s pass to the Oregon State Penitentiary, and the accompanying message fills Ian’s heart with both terror and revulsion.
The author of the note destroyed Ian’s life. In the blink of an eye, this drunk-driving scum took the most precious thing in Ian’s life.
Worst of all, Ian had watched it happen.
And now the bastard wants to see him.
The message is short. Only seven words.
I was paid to kill your daughter.

WOW! One has to keep reading to find out WHO … who would do this??? That’s what you keep asking yourself. Who is so sick that they have a child murdered … a lot of events and reading to get there but one can almost understand why one a little cRaZy goes so over the top iNsAnE and bent on absolute, brutal, hate filled revenge.
Pretty good book….I recommend
I think this was a freebie and even not, it is worth a few bucks. Read the other in series which is also good. Looking for another one soon.
This was an excellent book, heart wrenching and kept you on the edge of your seat
Never saw the ending coming. You’ll root for the main character.
I loved this book so much I bought the second book in the series to read right after it.
This book is action packed from the beginning with twist and turns. A daughter was killed and a father is looking for answers and revenge.
Good fast paced
This book has so many stories that are interrelated to the story line. Complex story line but it keeps you reading. All in all i enjoyed this book i am glad i took it to the beach with me
Excellent story
This is the first book I have read by this author but will try others. It was a bit gory for me so I skipped over some of that but otherwise it was interesting read that kept me going to see what happens next. I wasn’t totally thrilled with the ending but I don’t want to be a spoiler so let’s just say I will read other books by this author.
Really kept you guessing and on edge of seat so you didn’t want to stop reading.
Enjoyed this book to the very end. Then it was a bit much. Don’t want to spoil it for others. I’ll just say it was a bit violent for my taste. Having said that, I’d still recommend it as a good read. Errors are apparently unavoidable in e-books. They aren’t typos. It’s more like an editing thing where a sentence is getting switched around but incompletely. Ex: A light skinned Hispanic man with the slim build of a distance runner stepped out of an office halfway a short distance down the narrow corridor.
Writing as colorful as a canvas with characters and physical descriptions painted with a fine brush. A sad protagonist with scores to settle and convoluted motives make a very good read.
Riveting
Suspenseful up to the very end.
a good read
Easy reading and held your attention all the way through. I really enjoyed the book, even though I don’t like gory this one seemed to keep me guessing and reading to the end.
Could not stop reading it!!
It was a great book, except for the excessive use of the “f” word. Consequently, I had to skip over quite a few words.
