The Fat Girl’s Guide to Loving Your Body is completely different from anything that K.L. Montgomery has written before but it’s most certainly a message that hits home. It’s also the best book I have picked up since the new year has started. This is a book to teach us to love our bodies whether we’re fat, skinny, or somewhere in-between. Women are the most self conscience about their appearance and this book tells you to embrace you and your body. I am now fully aware about what I say about myself in front of my children because they are watching. There aren’t enough words to describe how much I loved this book and the message that it gives.
Everyone needs to add this to their one-click list!
The Fat Girl’s Guide to Loving Your Body by K.L. Montgomery is an inspiring book written in hopes of making readers come to see worth and value in the body they live in. I feel as if seeing your body in a positive manner is really important. It is so easy to go down the rabbit hole of depression and self-loathing while picking apart all the things that you see wrong with yourself. I like that this book is motivational and encouraging. I found it easy to relate too because of the personal experiences throughout the whole book. I love this author’s style of writing and I found myself giggling out loud several times. I have always loved to journal, it has always been therapeutic for me. Throughout this book there is journaling assignments, they may seem silly at first, some may be hard to do… but do them. They help so much. I will say that there were parts of the book that were slow and I struggled to keep interest, but those were far and few between. At the end of the book I’m not going to say “oh yea I LOVE MY BODY” but just like Montgomery said… it is a long process, it isn’t going to happen overnight. I will continue to work on my body image and one day I’ll get to where I’m going.
There are a few books that I’ve read that deeply affected me: Inga Muscio’s CUNT, Jes Baker’s THINGS NO ONE WILL TELL FAT GIRLS, Jen Hatmaker’s OF MESS AND MOXIE.
Add to that list K.L. Montgomery’s THE FAT GIRL’S GUIDE TO LOVING YOUR BODY.
Please be warned: This is a tough read. This book will make you feel all the pain, but it also leaves you feeling so much better.
Stick to it. Read the book AND do the journal entries. Feel welcomed and loved by Montgomery and her casual, “we are sisters in this life” style.
If you’re looking for someone to tell you the secret to living a fabulous skinny life, look elsewhere. If you’re looking to love yourself as you are, read this book.
Read. It. Now.
You will thank yourself and Montgomery when you do.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

“Make loving your body your 2020 New Years Resolution!”
WOW! I loved the style of writing of this book. I could totally see myself being friends with the author. Mrs. Montgomery really hits the nail on the head in her book, With her unique writing style, she draws you into her book with journaling and More! She touches upon all areas that most women struggle with. I’ll definitely recommend this book to friends! I look forward to reading more from Mrs. Montgomery.
The Fat Girl’s Guide to Loving Your Body by K.L Montgomery is a book that makes you think. A LOT! For that reason I wanted to hate it, I was able to relate to so much of what she was saying.
I found myself relating to things I had never consciously thought and certainly never verbal said out loud until last night when I mentioned to my husband that I had been reading this book and how much work I have to do. This is one book I plan on reading more than once.
I’m a large woman, have been overweight since puberty hit and my younger daughter is following down the same path. I know I have asked her if she really wanted the food she was about to eat and talked to her about making better decisions. That ends today.
I highly recommend this book and suggest you read it no matter your size or your relationship with food.
Must Read!
This book is a must read for everybody. It’s a book that helps you understand your mind and your body and shows you how to learn to love yourself. I love how KL Montgomery introduces herself and makes you feel bad though she’s sitting down having a cuppa coffee with you. She tells you about herself and what her initials stand for and what to call her as you’re reading throughout her book. The author makes you feel like she’s your best friend. Then teaches you the aspects to your thoughts about your body.
There is also a journaling aspect to this book, I love how it explains how to journal from a physical book or from a e-book. Between the journaling and assignments, you feel as though your accomplishing much more the just reading a book. Krista makes you feel like she cares about each readers feelings and accomplishments.
The fat girls guide to loving your body by K.L. Montgomery is an inspiring and heartfelt book with some really good advice. Teaching you everything from food to shame to love.
I want all my family members to read this.

This book was a joy to read, I absolutely loved it! I love Ms Montgomery anyway she is one of my favourite authors and I have read many of her books but this one was different in that it was like delving into someone else’s life who you have never met personally and thinking about how much you actually have in common. There were things in this book that I have probably said and felt on a daily basis. I loved the way the authors amazing writing style came across even in something that is so different to her normal books – I am so glad I chose to start my 2020 reading journey with this one! There were definitely some great inspirational quotes in this book that I will use from now on!
I 100% recommend this book – it really is a brilliant read and definitely not one you will be disappointed with!
The Fat Girl’s Guide to Loving Your Body by K.L. Montgomery is a great story. I have read K.L. Montgomery before and have enjoyed them. This book is no different. This is a humorous, self loving, and learning book about your body. If you have ever hated the way you look, this book is for you. I personally I read this book in sections. I felt that I got more out of the book that way. This book does not hold back. It is in your face about your body. I enjoyed this book and would recommend this book to anyone who is not loving their body.
The Fat Girl’s Guide to Loving Your Body by K.L. Montgomery is an inspiring read. This is one of my fave romcom writers and she writes as if she is talking with a friend and telling her personal story. This is a book hitting the heavy topics of dealing with having a positive body image but with a fun side to it. She includes different journaling activities and some daily encouragement. I like that she is honest and states early on she is not a medical professional but that if work is put in that a more positive body image can be gained. We are not all size zero and we have to love ourselves in order to keep a positive lifestyle and healthy relationships. She has everything from a playlist and different ways to encourage the process. Montgomery is honest and says this is not an overnight fix but something that has to be done consistently and everyday to make a difference. I look forward to following through with this process this year and see what changes at the end of the year for myself.
This book was so empowering! The Fat Girl’s Guide to Loving Your Body was full of so much positivity, and inclusion for everyone. It was like reading something from a best friend! I usually don’t read self help books, but I really loved this one! I can’t wait to read other books from K.L. Montgomery!

The Fat Girl’s Guide to Loving Your Body by K.L. Montgomery
This is something that I have struggled with my entire life and I even got to the point where I just simply didn’t care. I didn’t care what other people thought, if they wanted to stare or even talk . But come to find out the weight I was putting on was due to severe heart problems. Needless to say now I do care. It’s a fight every single day to make sure I’m staying on track and eating super clean and healthy as I can. Love Yourself no matter what. I loved this book and came away with a whole new attitude. So thank you for that. I needed a reminder and I definitely got. This is one of those books I’m going to read over and over again. I’m actually buying it for my daughter as well. I’ve already started on doing the journal. I can’t simply recommend this book or this author enough.
This author has been one of my favorite authors for quite sometime. This wasn’t one of my favorites by her but, I thought this book was ok. This book can be very helpful for just about anyone. There’s a lot of useful information and processes that if understood and followed one can learn how to love themselves. The author has a few pages where she wants you to keep a journal and gives you assignments.
This book isn’t just for the “ fat girls “ the book touches on a lot of different body images. It’s just a way to help you learn to love yourself.

5 ++++++++ STARS
I just don’t feel right rating this book using stars…It deserves so much more than a few stars. I started this book thinking ok it’s getting close to supper time, I’ll go ahead and start it then pick it back up later. Well that did not happen. Hubby got leftovers which he even had to warm up himself and I read this book in a little over 2 hours. I then sat and stared for another half hour until hubby asked if I was ok.
I can not even put into words how this touched me, like I mean straight in the heart, it’s like she crawled in my head and stayed there for the last 30-odd years taking every thought and feeling I’ve experienced. I’ve since bought one copy for one daughter and was telling another daughter that I was going to buy it for her and she ordered it while we spoke. Next up…Buy the paperback, I want to go back and follow every instruction given and start the journaling I’ve wanted to start for years and didn’t know where to begin, KL Montgomery has given me that direction.
I changed my lifestyle almost 5 years ago and have literally lived it since, just wanted to eat healthy and get rid of preservatives and such, the side effect of that was losing over 100 lbs and have kept it off within 10lbs or so. It still never occurred to me to love my body, you can change your physical lifestyle all day long but the feelings inside are habits that are hard to break and this guide has made me look at things in a whole different light.
I love this Author, she has written 2 of my favorite books ever and now I can say that that number has risen to 3..
Thank you for waking me up, making me smile, making me giggle a few times, making me cry, making me look at myself differently, and allowing me to get to know you.
So I gave this book 5 stars because that’s how we rate on our reviews but as I said, this book deserves so much more than stars!
K.L. Montgomery’s ‘The Fat Girl’s Guide to Loving Your Body’ is a book that plus size and skinny girls alike need to read. It is uplifting, humorous, and blunt. This book is exactly everything your mother should have talked to you about. I highly recommend taking a chance on this book and yourself, because girl, you are worth it.
K.L. Montgomery dives into the deep stuff and isn’t afraid of the nitty gritty. You know the things majority of us are afraid to talk about. It’s a much-needed breath of fresh air and a heart-felt plea to love yourself.
Montgomery has become a favorite. This book was one I wasn’t expecting from her but boy am I ever glad she tackled. Like her other works, it feels like you are having a good conversation with a cup of coffee with a good friend. It flows well. It’s practical. And that doesn’t keep it from reaching up and giving the backside kicking you needed for the reminder of your worth. Hands down, this is a must read for readers of all shapes, sizes, ages, gender. Do yourself a favor. Read it. Read it again. And then do something with the invaluable advice your friend has given you.
The Fat Girl’s Guide to Loving Your Body

This is a full length novel. Filled with the most important information you must know about yourself.
A self help guide to learning to love you and your body. Something many of us could/should read. It is in no way shaming, it has nothing to do with your gender, sexuality or ‘Size’. It has everything to do with YOU. A guide to improving the great YOU. The fact that you must treat yourself better for your own happiness. Was the biggest thing I took from reading this book. So buy that journal, sharpen those pencils and get ready to find the new and improved YOU!
K. L. Montgomery has written this amazing book. Based on her own life experiences. I know you will feel better about yourself, after reading and completing the suggestions given in the book. K. L. Montgomery has taken the time to write this book. Giving you the feel of someone who really understand your feelings. It is not just for fat people, it is for everyone! I plan on letting everybody know there is a book out there. That really holds the secrets to a better YOU. A must-have book! I have read many of this authors books and find this to be excellent! As it carries the secrets that every young and old woman should know about ourselves. WELL DONE!
Here is a self-help guide that might actually work. Of course, you have to do the homework and just like with most things, this will work if you do.
I really liked the way Montgomery wrote this book. Like she’s talking to a friend. And don’t friends want their friends to be happy and healthy? This book makes me feel like Montgomery wants me to be happy. Happiness just may start with loving your own body! (Regardless of your current size!)
This book is easy to read and flows well, touching on many topics that affect a “fat girl” from hating body parts to media “expectations” to diets and fads. Many sections of this guide have “homework” or a journaling assignment. Can you read this book without doing the homework? Of course you can but if you truly want to love your body, do the work. That’s my ”Bopo Meditation”. Do the work.

I just finished reading this book and I have to say first off, BRAVO! Amazing read, and very eye opening and made me more self aware of things I think or say, as i have a 6 year old daughter who is watching and listening to everything.
Now I read in here that the author would like to hear from someone on the skinny side of things and I’ll start this off with saying, my whole life (I’m 32) I have been tiny. I’ve had 3 kids and being pregnant was the only time in my life the scale ever went over 100lbs. To me, that was a hard pill to swallow seeing the number go up so much every appointment as it was not a normal thing for me to see. I knew it was normal and needed and I didn’t change anything I was doing as I wanted to do the best for the growing child in me but it took until my 2nd pregnancy to get over the shock and just guess how much I grew.
My whole life i was labeled the skinny girl, told I needed to eat more , presumed to have an eating disorder etc and with that I can put myself in others shoes as, yes skinny people get bullied too. Not to the extremes I’ve read or heard about for those larger than me, but its all coming from the same malicious place.
This book has kicked me into wanting to journal with my 6 year old as she, unlike me, puts on weight at a speed I’m not used to personally or compared to her older & younger brothers and that’s ok because its her body as we are all different.. She’s beautiful, bright and doesn’t know or care how she looks and that’s my goal to keep with her into loving herself as we’ve never said a negative thing to her, as I remember what it feels like to hear things .
For years, I cried as I didn’t feel like a girl because I have little to no chest. I can go without a bra and no one would notice and I hated that, made me feel less than. Then when I started to accept the fact at age 15, my mom who was in the same boat genetically, got breast augmentation and that started my plan for after I was done with having children that was a must do. She was happier, able to wear whatever she wanted and just seemed to be ‘whole’. I still get the urge to book an appointment just to see, but I have a Husband who tells me often he loves me for me and its starting to sink in that I’m perfect how I am.
For me, I feel genetics do play a part as the majority of my family is thin, I remember the story of my maternal grandmother she was newly pregnant with her 8th child and she was 98lbs, so that plays a role and who are we to judge something that many struggle with and have almost zero control over. You can’t change your genetic makeup but this book helps teach to embrace you for you and to love who you are.
This feels like rambling now but I don’t care. No matter your body type, read this book, do the journals and love yourself for who you are because there’s only one you here.
The Fat Girl’s Guide to Loving Your Body by K.L. Montgomery a positive five-star read. I have enjoyed several of this authors works and always found them to be body positive but this just brought it to the next level, we get to hear the author tell us about their own story, and if like me you struggle with your weight, it just adds an extra voice to the one in your head, and to me that extra voice is a welcome one as its being nice for a change. I enjoyed the style of writing as its not your typical in this type, there is a lightness, freshness and something extra as well. I have read this from cover to cover and devoured it, but I am sure I will be dipping in and out as its filled with messages that you can take day by day as well as information, journals and story’s about how to love yourself no matter who you are or what your size.

What a great book to start off the New Year with. It is a message I want to take forward with me through the year, and the rest of my life. This topic is one that doesn’t just touch close to home, it smashes in the front door.
The Fat Girl’s Guide to Loving Your Body by K.L Montgomery is a bit different from her other books- but still has her wit, humour and positive messages stamped all over it.
This book is like sitting down and having a coffee and chat with a close friend. It lays everything out and doesn’t pull any punches- but in a really helpful and uplifting way. It gives inspiring advice, helpful hints, motivational quotes, and even a kick@ss playlist to go with your new attitude.
So, if like me, you have struggled with body image issues, and loving the skin you’re in- then this is definitely the book you need to help adjust your mindset and give you the positive inspiration to move forward with a new perspective and respect for yourself.
Thought provoking, real, and inspiring!
Thank you, Ms. Montgomery!
