I am so thrilled that Tillie gave us this prequel to the series. I love that we got to be introduced into this world this way. This book will floor you, shock you, consume you, and leave you shook…..all in the best way possible.
“They told them they were evil. They told them they were possessed by demons. They told them that darkness ran in their veins.”
I truly feel that we wouldn’t be this invested in a series if we hadn’t got to see where they all started. Witnessing the beginning of it all was genus on Tillie’s part, we understand, we sympathize, we hunger for more now.
“The attack on Luke, Gabriel realized then, was the genesis of the Fallen. The sin that set them on this dark and painful path.”
I love dark books, romantic suspense is my jam, and this is that times eleventy billion. It’s so much more than I was expecting. I am buckled into this journey, and I’m reading for what comes next. Bring it on Tillie, Bring it on.
What makes someone a leader? Choices, circumstances, or both?
What changes someones path in life? Choices, circumstances, or both?
In Fallen: Genesis, Tillie presents us with be beginning of everything we’ll see in the series. The paths opened and closed. The choices made and the ones impossible to make. The light and the dark. And how one can impact the other.
We follow Joseph in his intricate story, in his faith, in his love. His need to protect his brother no matter the cost. Through a web of lies, deceit, pain and horrors, we keep following him and trying to understand everything that is happening. Trying do don’t believe the level of evil in the world. Trying to be like him and have faith, to believe.
Are you ready to jump in the dark with the fallen? Are you ready to fall in love with the broken?
I’m ready to jump with both feet and see where the Queen of Darkness will lead The Fallen.
I received this book as an ARC in return for an honest review
Long since her first release, Tillie Cole has established herself has the Queen of Dark Romance, but $%#@ just got super dark. Page after page I was asking myself, “WTF did I just read?” In Genesis: The Fallen, a prequel to her upcoming new release Raphael, she gives us the background of how these seven boys became The Fallen.
The boys in this book are not good; they are dark, dangerous, and deadly. We find quickly that not all demons are created equal when the church becomes the most dangerous of all.
Be prepared to be intrigued, disgusted, rooting for the devil and falling in love with the boy who’s grace is determined to save them all.
So I can’t give any spoilers, but what I want to say is that if you have never read Tillie Cole and you absolutely love Dark series then I can uneqavically recommend this book over and over again
I can also say that The Fallen, Gabriel (Joseph) brothers are going to literally rock our world people
In this prequal you will learn who The Fallen are and how they ‘sort’ of became them. I say that as I believe, like this series will be, we will learn each ones story (I hope). Tillie drags you into this story from the first page and makes you cringe and have you on the edge of your seat to finish this. And then at the end screaming because you don’t want to stop reading and you need the next story ASAP. It is a bit more darker than her previous (I think) Its a bit insane, blasphemous, evil, and twisted
Welcome to Deadly Virtues
I’m not sure how to express my excitement of The Fallen; Genesis by Tillie Cole.
This is the prequel to her new dark series The Fallen. It is paramount that you read this before you read Raphael (book 1 releasing in a few weeks).
Whenever Ms. Cole announces a new book, I can’t control my excitement. Her darkness speaks to my soul in the most disturbing way. I honestly didn’t think she could go darker than Sick Fux, but then she dropped this book. I had to step away for a while to kinda process the whole thing.
To anyone who knows me, one word that won’t ever be used to describe me is that I’m never at a loss for words, but this book left me speechless on several occasions, and that might tell anything you need to know.
The Fallen; Genesis has set up a world of incomparable darkness in the Tillie Cole universe, and it looks to be her best work to date. This book can’t get enough love from me, but I will start by granting it 5 well deserved stars.
What a prequel. It’s a must if you intend to read the series, but what an eye opener to the characters and future stories. Be warned there’s no holding back in this short but extremely dark book, and some my find scenes disturbing and triggers.
My self, it’s was interesting to learn how the Angels became the Fallen Ones and I can’t wait to delve into this engrossing series.
THE FALLEN : Genesis is the prequel novella in Tillie Cole’s contemporary, adult DEADLY VIRTUES dark, romance series focusing on a group of former orphans raised and tortured by a rogue organization of priests known as The Brethren.
NOTE: Due to the dark subject matter, there may be some triggers for more sensitive reasers.
Told from third person perspective (Joseph aka Gabriel) THE FALLEN: Genesis follows a group of orphaned boys, believed to be possessed by demons, who must endure years of violence and torture in the name of Jesus Christ and God. The seven, who will come to be known as The Fallen, named for the archangels of the Catholic faith, must submit to their controllers in an attempt to rid them of the darkness within. At the age of eighteen, Joseph aka Gabriel, will be offered his freedom, a freedom that comes at a cost. Fast forward ten years, wherein Gabriel is now the leader of The Fallen, and their paths have been chosen based on sins of the past.
THE FALLEN: Genesis introduces the The Fallen: a group of young boys, now men whose baser instincts go against the norm. A dark, gritty and raw look at the evil that lies within men, and the lengths some will go to in order for power and control.
Dark + Deadly
Depraved + Disturbed
Addictive + Seductive
Just some adjectives I would use to describe the prequel to the Deadly Virtues Series. In true Tillie Cole style, the reader becomes engrossed in this new world and lives of the characters. You just cannot help yourself, the story is like a black hole and you are helpless against being sucked in, becoming addicted to where the next chapter will take you.
An impeccably written introduction to the inception and how the Fallen came to be. I was deeply in shock by the end of this book. Told from the point of view of one of the Fallen, Gabriel, I completely fell head over heels for him. So different to his fellow Fallen, his story, you cannot help but love him. The unexpected path he finds himself on, the decisions he must face, his journey takes some dramatic twists that will leave you holding your breath and releasing in a giant whoosh.
An excellent beginning to what I am sure will be yet another awesome series from this author. I cannot wait to see where Raphael’s book leads us next!
#DeadlyVirtues
Tillie Cole gives us a tantalising taste of her wicked dark new series in this short novella. The Fallen: Genesis sets the scene for what’s to come in the first full length novel.
This one is…I have no words! It left me completely speechless. It’s one of those books you finish reading and say to yourself – what have I just read? And why did I like it so much!? If this is the teasing of what is to come next I cannot wait for more!
I’m keeping my review vague I do not want to give anything away, you have to experience this one for yourself with no spoilers!
Five stars! I can’t wait for the next instalment now!
“We are fallen. Just like the original rebel himself, Lucifer, refusing to bow to God, to good—”
This is what Tillie does best! Write dark books. I’m amazed. This is what my readers soul feeds on.
Unrepentant bloodshed, sacrificial freedom, and love between monsters born in depths of despair.
More!
I’m downright speechless right now. I had to take a couple days to think on how to write this review. First, let me start by saying that this one of the darkess, chilling story I’ve ever read.
This is a prequel that eases us to a series coming up. The author didn’t hold back what’s so ever in writing these pages. I had to pick up my jaw off the floor quite a bit and said WTF often too. I had chills running up my back.
The author has quite the imagination into creature something this tortured. Characters that have unique tortured desires. I’m anxious to see what she’s going to do with the next story.
This part was mostly an introduction of the 7 dark angels. Told in the third person. It can be read by itself but you’ll need the rest at some point. Thread carefully, read Tillie blurb and warnings before picking up this book. I highly recommend it.
Oh. My. Freaking. Days!!! Tillie Cole has done it again!! My little black heart leapt for joy when I saw this had released and I one clicked quicker than accepting a G&T on a day ending in Y!!
Holy sh!t, what a start to a series that promises to be all things dark and delicious, soothing my equally black soul. I call dibs on Gabriel! This had me on the edge of my seat, I could not turn the proverbial pages on my kindle quick enough! I am super excited to see where this is all going to go! I am officially hooked!
“Seven, one for each of the Fallen and the mortal sins Gabriel knew they would one day commit. Seven for the deadly sins, and seven for the heavenly virtues that would aid in his redemption.”
The Fallen: Genesis is a prequel novella in The Deadly Virtues Series. What a way to start and introduce the readers to a new dark series. I am really happy Tillie Cole decided to write a prequel novella instead of adding this part in the beginning of the book or either in flashbacks. I love getting the background information from the get-go, because it really sets the mood and gets you excited to get your hands on the first book. I am absolutely intrigued and horrified with the characters in this book. They are not innocent and all have internal demons. They will become anti-heroes and I have to say that the actual bad guys (the Brethren) are actually evil. This book is dark and the things that have been done to the seven of the orphans is utterly despicable and evil. I know that they aren’t normal, but that doesn’t mean that they should’ve been treated the way they did.
I enjoyed getting to know how the brotherhood came to be. Also I look forward to getting to know each of the Fallen better in the coming book(s). I am expecting a lot of crazy and dark things to happen, and I am definitely ready for it. I think fans of (Tillie Cole’s) dark romance will love this series. I really hope you at least give this novella a try, just to see if it intrigues you to continue the series. I am ready to fall in love with a new set of Tillie Cole’s anti-heroes.
THE FALLEN: GENESIS is the prequel to the THE DEADLY VIRTUES SERIES. The book starts already letting us in shock and it doesn’t get easier. Tillie’s writing is, as always, excellent and leave us hooked to it. Even in scenes that made my eyes open so much that my heart soared and I almost stopped reading for what was happening. Not even in the Hades Hangmen series, which also has strong scenes, I felt that way. Seriously! Strong scenes that I just thought “this book is not for me,” but I also thought “I need to know what happens.” As in the synopsis, this book is not easy and the tendency in the others is to get worse. The book addresses a lot of religion and can make a lot of people uncomfortable. I grew up in a Catholic family, but I’m not a follower. And yet, for me, it was difficult to read certain things.
This prequel shows that, in this story, there are no good guys, but from what they lived, by the situation in which they were exposed, it is possible to sympathize and maybe choose a side. If I did choose? I’m not sure, because even with a breaking heart for the boys, we can not forget why they were called the Fallen. I think that, after all, the seed of curiosity was planted in me. I just finished it now and I still have my eyes wide and shocked. I don’t know what I was hoping to get, but coming from Tillie we could not have predicted, right. I’m feeling crazy for wanting to read the other books even though I discovered that it was too strong for me and not so much my style. Tillie, you made me feel in conflict! I just wanted to say that you wrote a story that shocked me and made me not stop thinking about it. Isn’t that what makes a good book?
THE FALLEN: GENESIS is told in third person. I usually don’t particularly like it. But this time, I felt it was better this way. If I was shocked only by the narration, could you imagine if I knew, in fact, what was going on in everyone’s head?
This short story is not romantic, it is to introduce us to the Fallen and the Brethren (religious sect led by priests). It isn’t recommended for everyone because it has trigger warning and for having strong scenes described in details. The next one will tell the story of Raphael and I already predict my jaw may probably hit the floor with this one. I recommend it to anyone who likes a really dark, dark Romance.
