And the priests are no ordinary priests. They are the Brethren, a secret sect who believe themselves on a divine mission to seek out evil in the boys in their care. Seek it out, and then drive it out.

Dark. Very dark. I think it laid some really strong ground work for the series to come. Don’t go into the novella expecting a romance though. This just set the stage. If you enjoy dark then you’ll probably like this. If you’re triggered by stuff then you’ll want to skip this. This is not going to be for everyone. I did enjoy it though. The ending was sort of convenient but I’m trying to see it for what it was. I do think this whole premise is pretty original. To me it is at least. I love the twists it puts on familiar things how it applies them. If you’re into anti-heroes and not triggered easily then you may want to pick this up. Because it has all of the anti-heroes. I enjoyed it and I’ll be going back for more.
In this prequel novella, the foundation is set in a corrupt world where the chosen rule at the cost of the innocent. With depravity lurking at every corner, there is one who rises above the violence and vows to protect those who have been abused.
“The Fallen’s one and only protector. The one pure angel in a sea of Satan-like sinners.”
Introduced to seven characters with diverse personalities and deep needs, I remain curious about each. Gabriel seems like he is up to the task, but at a price. And, I definitely have a soft spot for Michael.
The Fallen: Genesis is a Deadly Virtues prequel offering a dark premise surrounded by shadowy and intriguing characters. I look forward to reading the books in this series.
I am a HUGE fan of the “Hades Hangmen” series. No one can do “dark romance” the way that Tillie does it. Usually, I skip the short prequels in series, but I knew I HAD to read the introduction to what is bound to be Tillie’s new HIT series !
Now let me start off by saying, that there isn’t anything “romantic” about this novella. It is purely an introduction into the world of “The Fallen”. Gabriel, Michael, Raphael Selaphiel, Barachiel, Jegudiel, and Uriel.
They told them they were evil.
They told them they were possessed by demons.
They told them that darkness ran in their veins.
These boys aren’t anything like the regular orphan boys at Holy Innocents. There is a darkness within them, driving them to act in violence. They have been chosen and isolated because of their inner demons… being punished, again and again.
They have no one to stand up for them en to protect them against the real evil that is the Brethren. No one besides Gabriel that is, the purest of them all….and he turns out to be everything they needed…
I advise everyone, who is planning to read this series, to start right here with this little story. It already explains a lot…yet leaves you with so many questions.
I myself have no idea what’s in store for us next. It could be anything. I do know that this is just the tip of the iceberg and the best is yet to come. After this little taste, I can’t wait to jump into “Raphael’s” book.
I need it right now, please !!!
An ARC was provided in exchange for an honest review
Wow!!! I don’t want to give anything away but this is really fucked up! You HAVE TO READ IT! The way Tillie wrote this prequel to set up the rest of the series is amazing and I can’t wait to get started on Raphael. I one-clicked both of these books as soon as they were available because I knew it was going to be good but holy shit! This isn’t just “good”. It’s fucking trippy and amazing! I’d love to spend a day in her mind.
This series is going to be EPIC!! I can’t wait for more of these dark and dangerous men! I’m going to go ahead and claim Sela as mine right now. And Raph too. Hell, I’ll take them all! I am just so intrigued by The Fallen men!
This book is disturbing, but necessary to understand this new world Tillie has created. This prequel novella is just the background on how The Fallen came to be. It introduces all of these damaged boys and gives us a little insight into each one. The Fallen: Genesis must be read before reading the series.
The Fallen: Genesis by Tillie Cole is a prequel to Raphael, book 1 in the Deadly Virtues series and tells the story about the fallen. This is a dark story that will grip you from the start and will leave you wanting more!
Happy reading!
This is a prequel to Deadly Virtues. A mouth watering introduction to a new series.
Two brothers of blood on the opposite side one full of light, the other darkness.
They are orphans in the Holy Innocents Home and School for Children.
A pledge to protect his brother is broken unwillingly, and then the darkness is free…
This series is not going to be hearts and flowers, its blood, vengeance, death and darkness. You have been warned!
But oh my gosh what a spectacular read this was!!
The darkness in me rejoiced as I greedily devoured each word.
The fallen boys are such incredible characters! Each with a desire, a need, a dark aspiration, with an aim, followed by an expectation. Oh be still my darling heart!
I’m soooooo excited now I’ve met all the boys, and I cant wait for my up close and personal with each one of them.
I just know they are going to satisfy and sate my hidden demon.
Tillie Cole is a master of darkness. In this short prequel she made me extremely curious, a little frightened, nervous and insanely excited. The Fallen: Genesis is the beginning of the journey, that we’ll go through together with the characters of the Deadly Virtues series and it’s written so perfectly that I can’t wait for the stories of every hero who has been presented to us.
Everyone has their desires. The urges of the seven boys from the Catholic orphanage are not typical. These boys crave things dark, twisted and blood-chilling. This book explains how they met, what connected them and how their brotherhood formed. Because, apart from their hunger to do cruel things, they have another common goal that will simultaneously be their salvation and damnation.
This story is not for those with weak nerves and delicate heart. Tillie Cole reached into the darkest corners of her imagination to bring out a story that would leave the reader shocked and speechless. This series will question the morals and it will certainly sicken many readers with triggers. But I’m ready for it. The Fallen: Genesis hooked me from the first page and I couldn’t put it down! I love dark reads, but this book is something else. It’s disturbing and gritty. It’s also startling and fascinating. It reached to the darker parts of my soul and I can’t wait for more. Bring me the darkness, Tillie!
Oh my goodness, what twisted wickedness did I just read! How Queen Tillie Cole comes up with these dark, intense, warped stories I’ll never know, but one thing is for certain…I love every minute of it!
This prequel is so much darker and twisted than I could have ever thought. Quite frankly it will make you question your own sanity as I did. It was make you gasp in horror and wonder what else Tillie has up her sleeve for the other books to come.
Though twisted and dark, this story was so captivating and intriguing you couldn’t help but wonder what was going to come next. Each boy, each Fallen, brought a very unique aspect to the story. Each with their own dark and specific way to kill. Each with their own darkness and urges seeping into their veins.
I cannot wait to see where this story leads as I know I will not be able to predict what will come next. But I do know I am ready for this story to unfold and lead me down the path of darkness, the path of The Fallen.
I devoured this book and then was bereft when it was offer. Tille has one of the most amazing imaginations in the business and this series is already shaping up to be an explosive journey. I love the darkness, the twisted poetry she finds in the brutality and tragedy of these boys lives, and I cannot wait to dive deeper into each of their stories starting with Raphael!
Wow what did I just read?!?! When Tillie Cole writes a dark story she does it in a way that will get you sucked into their world while feeling disturbed & intrigued for more. Admittedly I cringed at some of the scenes during the read.
This is a good start to the Deadly Virtues series. I am curious to see how each of the Fallen’s boys stories will turn out. Believe me when I say it will have your mind blown with all that is going on in this corrupted world. It will have you wondering if there could be any truth to it.
Joseph has always realized his younger brother, James, was different. But at 11, it’s become apparent that he’s not just different, but DARK. James’ dark need is something Joseph has to try to stop James from satiating himself with. But to protect James, he’ll have to commit a sin first, so that he can get sent to Purgatory, where James has been since the priests took him months ago.
7 boys. 7 young boys whose lives were tainted by the men, the priests, charged with protecting and guiding them. Gabriel, Raphael, Selaphiel, Barachiel, Jegudiel, Uriel and Michael. They were 7 young boys who had darkness in their souls. The priests of Holy Innocents Home for Children saw the evil in these boys and did their level best to exorcise them of that darkness. But the way they did it? Using evil and darkness themselves.
And now these boys are young men. Young men who are watched over by Gabriel (Joseph), the only among The Fallen who isn’t truly evil, the one who has now devoted his life to guiding them, to protecting them. And in their hearts, these 7 young men are nurturing their dark needs.. Who will be the next target? Will it be The Brethren? The men who were supposed to protect them, but instead, did the opposite? Only time will tell, and I for one, cannot wait to find out what’s to come!!
This book was so good. Joseph/Gabriel has devoted his life to become a priest but something unholy is happening at Holy Innocents. And it is so dark and disturbing.
Push to the limit!!!
I was so scared to start this book. After hearing it was in the grey zone I was so nervous. Plus my friend had said it was dark and they weren’t wrong. It really did push my boundaries in parts. But the story is really good and well thought out. I didn’t read the blurb so I didn’t know much about it just what is seen on FB and IG. I don’t know if it was a good idea for the first book but I’ll definitely go in blind for the rest of the series.
The characters in this book are great but good there pushed to there limits even with there own dark side. Joseph/Gabriel isn’t like the rest of them but he has vowed to protect his brother and this not will do anything to do that and I mean anything. This to me showed how strong he was to put himself in the worst place ever where he didn’t know what was going to happen he just knew it wasn’t going to be good.
This book is a prequel and I would recommend you read it before the next book comes out. It gives you a background to know what has happened and why they are where they are now. The author has given out warnings and triggers to this book. So do be warning its not for the faint hearted and well push you.
The Fallen Genesis by Tillie Cole is the introduction to the very dark and gritty series Deadly Virtues about 7 boys with damaged souls.
Yes, I can truly say that there is a lot of darkness in the story. It’s devilishly good, deliciously dark and moved my emotions to the surface.
Even if it’s so dark and scary with enormous amount of violent, I loved the entire plot which dragged me deeper and deeper into the story. Author had a great and well thought idea and knew how to lead this story in very interesting manner. I have many dark emotional triggers which I try to avoid in books and I was afraid I’d not handle so much evil but I found the plot shockingly interesting and now I want more of this tale.
I won’t tell you details about this story, except that seven badass heroes coming our way and we’re going to hate to love them. Seven boys became a men and every each of them is different and have demons inside their own souls. I already have my fav, who’s mysterious story makes me eager to read and I’m impatiently awaiting for it.
Highly recommend this book.
Holy mother of angels!
This fast paced, quick novella carried a knock out punch that obliterated my senses!
This book is required before the release of Raphael Book 1 in the Deadly Virtues Series!
It sets the stage and tone of what’s next. Although only this author knows the direction of this series!
Tillie does Tillie…devilishly dark, dirty and disturbing.
Wow! Excuse while I go back to hiding!
Y’all this is so good! So original, so dark that it pulls you in and consumes you. Every time I sit down with one of Tillies books I am amazed at how great of a author she really is. She gives us stories that are so unlike anything else. This is just the beginning folks….we are truly in for a wild ride!

I have to admit I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started this as a few of my friends found it too much and yes its not an easy read for some but it has been so well written in Tillie’s phenomenal writing style.
Its hard to write this review as I don’t want to give the story away. It is dark and it will push your boundaries with some upsetting scenes but it really set up the story world for this series and if you make it through will leave you intrigued about the characters you meet and their stories.
You really do need to read this prequel before starting this series as you need t understand how these boys became the Fallen Ones
