Star FBI detective Amos Decker and his colleague Alex Jamison must solve four increasingly bizarre murders in a dying rust belt town–and the closer they come to the truth, the deadlier it gets in this rapid-fire #1 New York Times bestseller. Something sinister is going on in Baronville. The rust belt town has seen four bizarre murders in the space of two weeks. Cryptic clues left at the … clues left at the scenes–obscure bible verses, odd symbols–have the police stumped.
Amos Decker and his FBI colleague Alex Jamison are in Baronville visiting Alex’s sister and her family. It’s a bleak place: a former mill and mining town with a crumbling economy and rampant opioid addiction. Decker has only been there a few hours when he stumbles on a horrific double murder scene.
Then the next killing hits sickeningly close to home. And with the lives of people he cares about suddenly hanging in the balance, Decker begins to realize that the recent string of deaths may be only one small piece of a much larger scheme–with consequences that will reach far beyond Baronville.
Decker, with his singular talents, may be the only one who can crack this bizarre case. Only this time–when one mistake could cost him everything–Decker finds that his previously infallible memory may not be so trustworthy after all…

Good read with like me main characters. Few far flung twists. Enjoyed it.
I love this author, but this book was not up to par. Generally, there is a strong woman who is equal to the man in Baldacci’s books, but this was not the case here. Seems like this book may have been written in a hurry or just dependent on previous books that were so great. Disappointing.
Not the best in the series.
Another hit by one of the greatest writers ever!
Another layer to Amos Decker…I love this character and how his mind works! Another fabulous book by Mr. Baldacci! Thank you!
I really like this book. As Always Baldacci tells a great story. Interesting characters. Although this is the 4th in the series the main characters are growing.
Memory Man series -excellent book Baldacci doesn’t disappoint. Interesting story line, well-developed characters. Very applicable to today’s world. Highly recommended.
Suspenseful thriller!
This book grabbed you right from the start. Amos Decker is one of the best series I have ever read. Does not disappoint.
Intrigue is outstanding.
Surprise ending
Balducci is an excellent writer with original characters and a great storyline. Reading his books is like riding in a run-away train – you’re moving very fast, you’re not sure where the train’s taking you and you’re having the time of your life! Enjoy!
Every single book I’ve read by this author has been fantastic – love everything about his writing – his characters pop and does his plots and I can never figure out who done it until the author reveals who it was!!
It was a good story and kept me engaged while I tried to figure out the outcome.
OMG as usual very easy reading, great action and good cast! Love the story & how it’s resolved and involves all the characters. Can’t put it down.
Baldacci’s books are always must reads for me. I can hardly put them down.Awesome!
DB always spins a good yarn
Great story from a great author….
I love this writer and I love Amos
I was worried about the memory man and the effects that his head injury might be the lead in for another book for this series. When I like a character I don’t want him to change
