Star FBI detective Amos Decker and his colleague Alex Jamison must solve four increasingly bizarre murders in a dying rust belt town–and the closer they come to the truth, the deadlier it gets in this rapid-fire #1 New York Times bestseller. Something sinister is going on in Baronville. The rust belt town has seen four bizarre murders in the space of two weeks. Cryptic clues left at the … clues left at the scenes–obscure bible verses, odd symbols–have the police stumped.
Amos Decker and his FBI colleague Alex Jamison are in Baronville visiting Alex’s sister and her family. It’s a bleak place: a former mill and mining town with a crumbling economy and rampant opioid addiction. Decker has only been there a few hours when he stumbles on a horrific double murder scene.
Then the next killing hits sickeningly close to home. And with the lives of people he cares about suddenly hanging in the balance, Decker begins to realize that the recent string of deaths may be only one small piece of a much larger scheme–with consequences that will reach far beyond Baronville.
Decker, with his singular talents, may be the only one who can crack this bizarre case. Only this time–when one mistake could cost him everything–Decker finds that his previously infallible memory may not be so trustworthy after all…
ger scheme–with consequences that will reach far beyond Baronville.

I have always loved David Baldacci and this book didn’t disappoint.
I have read pretty much all the Baldacci’s written including his books in various genre’s and I am generally a big fan.
I started the Amos Decker series and book 1 and 2 were absolutely fascinating. Book 3 too was good
Book 4 i.e The Fallen just didn’t work for me.
There were too many crimes/conspiracies running and to me they didn’t add up. Maybe instead of running with 3 subplots, he should have just run with one.
Decker and his amazing total recall memory was not that well played out in this book.
Yes he got whacked in the head and he is changing and worried about how he is changing so I guess that accounts for not too much of the ‘memory man ‘ big reveals.
There was a nice aspect of Decker becoming more ‘human’. He relates very well to Zoe and anchors her very well so that was an interesting/redeeming aspect of the book.
*********************SPOILER **************************************************
1. There is a drug-running operation going on in town and pretty much everyone is involved in it.Including some of the prime players being octogenarian?? This in itself was not very convincing.
2. Anyone and everyone is a drug addict and they die out of the blue and there is a huge insurance scam happening.
3. There is an old hidden treasure. Everyone wants in on it and there is an elaborate frame up happening to access the treasure

Good story in the Amos Decker series but I found this one a little confusing at the end when the author seemed to be winding everything up. There were a lot of characters and subplots he needed to tie together.
This author is one of my favorites and this book does not disappoint. Seems like Decker can’t even take a vacation to visit family without trouble finding him. Good plot with twists and turns that were not expected.
Like always David Baldacci book is so well written that you get lost in the drama
Amos Decker is my favrite fictional character .
Decker is always good. This time the bad guy is a serial killer with no found bodies.
“The Fallen” Amos Decker Series, Book 4 by David Baldacci
I do love David Baldacci stories, and this one is no exception. You know you are in for a suspense story with more than a lot of twists and turns which ultimately concludes with an ending that makes you feel good and with hope for this world we live in. I downloaded this audiobook from my state library after a short wait. This is a worthy read for sure. If you like a good crime fiction suspense story. Happy Reading ! !
Action packed from one of my favorite writers.
I like the Amos Decker character, he keeps you guessing.
This is my 4th Decker book. If I hadn’t read the others, I might have given it a better rating but I didn’t feel it was up to the standards set in earlier books. I believe there were just too many plots and sub-plots to keep the book realistic.
I love Baldacci. I can’t pu his books down. Never know what’s going to happen next. Lots of twists and turns.
This Amos Decker story moves along over just a few days and opens Decker up a little more. The story has a few unexpected twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the end. This is a definite good read for Deck and Baldacci fans.
Not up to his standards in this book but somewhat entertaining.
Great Characters, story held my interest. I promptly bought the others in this series.
Great read. Couldn’t put it down. Amos Decker is a brilliant character.
Always like his books, but this I consider one of his best and I couldn’t put it down.
Live this series
An entertaining and fast-paced story that, like one of Baldacci’s much earlier books, precisely captures the aura of an economically devastated small town with a massive illegal drug epidemic. The desperation of the citizens is palpable, leading even the most benign people to engage in horrific acts, including murder, and the drug pushers to encourage them. Amos and Alex eventually solve the multi-level puzzle and, with the assistance of the DEA, confront the drug pushers at the decrepit estate of the eponymous founder of the Baronwille digging for $500MM of gold the the founder hid from his ne’re do well children. Good prevails over evil.
The whole Amos Decker series is great
