It’s supposed to be a weekend of fun and relaxation, until their fake relationship is threatened by a fire. All of a sudden, the feelings they’ve kept hidden become all too real.
Firefighter Ransom Keller can’t stand the thought of attending his twenty-year high school reunion as a single guy. Folks tend to expect a little more action in the romance department from a former star linebacker and … department from a former star linebacker and an ex party machine. But a decade in the Special Forces followed by career in fire rescue operations hasn’t left him much time to play Romeo. So he does the unthinkable — he hires an actress to pose as his bride for the weekend.
Serena Chandler is supposed to be working on her doctoral dissertation, not filling in for her bestie’s slightly scandalous rent-a-date service. However, her short-term “husband” seems like a perfect gentleman, so she relaxes and decides to enjoy their weekend trip together while keeping things strictly professional between them. He’s made it clear he’s a no strings attached kind of man, and that’s fine with her.
Their carefully negotiated agreement works right up to the point when a fire breaks out at his alma mater, and she becomes trapped in the gym. Watching the ripped and ready Ransom take charge in a daring rescue operation, however, makes all her best-laid plans go up in smoke. She finds herself scheming with her Mensa-level I.Q. for a way to turn their fake marriage into a real one.
If they survive the fire, of course!

I really like this one! At the beginning I did think it was a little sad that Ransom felt he needed to ‘hire a wife’ to face ‘The Pack’. But honestly I enjoyed Ransom and Serena falling in love so much that the reason she was there became unimportant.
Laughter, flirty banter, danger and a lot of love are packed in to this novella. A little cheesy, but perfectly enjoyable it is a wonderful addition to the series which I read on Kindle Unlimited.
The Fake Bride Rescue is a story with enough humor to make your day. When an ex special forces sergeant is going back to his 20th high school reunion, he rents a fake wife to save face. He contacts the Rent-A-Date company he found online and the woman he was waiting on in a limousine was not who showed up. Iris had doubled booked this weekend and asked her somewhat geeky best friend to take this job for the $2000. Iris packs the expensive clothes that she has for Serena to use. When Serena meets Sergeant Ransom Kelly there is a charge that can be felt by both. They have an enjoyable weekend until they are involved in a blast that sets the old gym on fire. Then Ransom gets to show off his special ability in the fire department of the Search and Rescue program along with his loyal K-9 Princess. This story is not only about Ransom saving Serena and his friends at the gym, but Serena I think saved Ransom from his lonesome life he was actually living.
I really enjoyed reading this book! An ex-military man hires a wife for a 20th class reunion! The girl he hires gets her best friend to do it and sparks fly! I recommend this book to all readers! This author always tells a good story!
Ransom is a K9 Rescue Firefighter and he is coming up on his 20 year class reunion. He does not want to attend his reunion without a date. He is sure “the pack” from high school with hound him to no end if he does, so he hires a fake fiancé. Serena is suppose to be working on her doctoral dissertation but finds herself filling in for her best friend and roommate as Ransom’s fiancé. She finds herself at a weekend getaway in one of the nicest hotels around. Ransom is the perfect gentleman and has a separate suite for her. The two find that they enjoy pretending to be engaged. There is no lack of things to talk about and they are having fun to boot. The plan works just fine until fire breaks out during the reunion. Can the two continue to fool all of Ransom’s friends, including his high school sweetheart? Will they something beyond pretend?
This was my first time reading this author. I really enjoyed the book. It is a short read but was fun and entertaining. I love the chemistry between the two main characters. I also enjoyed the supporting secondary characters.
When Selena does her friend a favor and acts as someone’s wife she doesn’t expect to be fall in love. Ransom does not expect Selena to be his fake bride but what the heck he will make the best of the situation. When he falls head over heals for Selena he couldn’t be happier. When the weekend ends should they act on their crazy feelings and get married or take it slow? If you like love at first sight stories this one will tickle your fancy. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.
This is such an amazing cute love story! It is by far one of my favorites! It is cute, witty and down right adorable the way they get along and play off each other’s strong points. Wonderful job Jo!
Loved Serena and Ransom’s story. Serena had lost her job and was in need of some serious cash. Ransom had a 20th reunion coming up and didn’t want all the ribbing from his pack of friends of his single status. They join forces and become a great husband/wife team. I read this in a 24 hour period, so good. If you like clean, fun stories with heart, I highly recommend The Fake Bride Rescue. I received this book from the publisher. The thoughts and comments are my own.
Who wants to go to a class reunion by themselves? Ramson, rather Sergeant Ramson Keller, oh yes and hunky, decorated war veteran brave, and now selfless public servant as a fire fighter for Disaster City Search and rescue.. and Serena was acting as his fake newly married bride as they attended his 2oth class reunion.
Serena was helping her roommate and best friend out by playing the role of Rent a Date and in this case a Fake Bride and with Ramson.
I adored this story! How fun and all the witty banter between these two and the attraction. It just made me smile as I turned the pages.. What a great storyline! Jo Grafford does it again!
Read to see how Ramson and Serena dance through their fake marriage and eventually find their happy ever after when least expected!
As someone who married a guy she’d really only known two weeks, I have no problem with instantly falling in love. Ransom and Serena had instant rapport. I loved both of them. I foresee a long and interesting marriage for them. Jo Grafford put romance, danger and humor in this story.
Loved Ransom and Serena’s story! Ransom just doesn’t want to deal with ribbing from his friends, and Serena really needs the money, so when her roommate talks her into being Ransom’s fake bride for the weekend, she decides to try it. Ransom is expecting Iris, so when he gets Serena, he wonders what happened, and when Serena explains, he’s fine with the change in plans. By the time the weekend is over, will they be able to part ways, or will they stay together?? Really great story, and some the things that happens seems like the guys are still in high school, which really rings true!
I received a complimentary copy of this book, was not required to leave a review, and the opinion expressed is my own.
Ransom and Serena were an adorable couple! Once they got together, they were so romantic and I loved them! Who doesn’t want to go to a high school reunion and show that they’ve made something of themselves, especially someone who was a “big deal” in high school? Ransom doesn’t have much to show for himself in the romance dept. so he hires a “rent-a-date” for the evening and doesn’t expect to get a woman he’s been looking for all his life! Serena is just doing a favor for her roommate when she excepts the offer to be a “rent-a-date” for a weekend of some rich guy for his high school reunion, never thinking that it would lead to a lifetime of love! Awesome story and I loved the chemistry between the two! Even a jealous ex-girlfriend is thrown in there! I was only disappointed that the “fire rescue” didn’t involved Ransom really rescuing Serena or anyone else for that matter! I’ve come to expect that will all these Disaster City books and look forward to that so I missed that! Wonderful story though!
