Lady Imogen Marlowe knew Lord Thaddeus Herrington was the love of her life as soon as she met him at his brother’s summer house party. The feeling was mutual and the couple planned to elope but were foiled by Imogen’s awful father who betrothed her to the even more vile Lord Cunningham for his own gain. Now Imogen has been locked in her bedroom for the last six weeks until her unwanted wedding, unable to even exchange a message with Thaddeus.
Thaddeus may only be the younger son of a fairly new earl, but he has ambition and determination. He loves Imogen and will not rest until he frees her from her father and Lord Cunningham, even if the awful man seems to always be one step ahead of them.
I’ve been rooting for these two for awhile now and it was nice to see them finally get to be together, but the final confrontation with Lords Marlowe and Cunningham was a bit lackluster for me and I would’ve loved to see them get more of a true comeuppance. I also would’ve liked to see Imogen and Thaddeus get a bit more time together as a couple where they weren’t hiding or on the run.
I’ll be looking forward to the stories of the other two Marlowe sisters.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
This sister does finally get her happily ever after which is a good thing. To say the least I was shocked at the horrific behavior of her father and Lord Cunningham level of abuse that Imogen was subjected to. The plot seems to be more focused on a constant loop in failed attempts to rescue her. The steam level & language didn’t bother me, I just wish the couple had more time as a couple & less time being on the run. I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation from the author.
Wonderful romance between Thaddeus and Imogen. He is a younger son with little money and she is just a pawn of her wicked father who is forcing Imogen to marry a lecherous old man. Follow their journey as they try to escape these two evil reprobates who always seem to be one step ahead of Thaddeus and Imogen on their way to wedded bliss.
Gang pick this beauty up!
I loved this piece Lady Imogen Marlowe’s life is not so grand Lord Cunningham is about as far from who she wants to spend her life with as is the devil on second thought she would have been happier with the devil. Will she become a run-away? Is happiness in her future? Will the Lucky Devil be lucky for her? Some of the character’s names are a hoot like her sister Lettuce a lady should not be named for a salad ingredient but that just shows what a great imagination Ms. Farmer has. I want good things for all the sisters and I look forward to reading about them too. I loved the characters, loved the plot, and adored the piece (thought I was going to say love again right?) Gang pick this beauty up you will be glad you did. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
This is a shortish story. After the poorly planned escape attempt from the Herringtons’ house party several books back, you would think Thaddeus had learned something. It’s amazing the couple does get away after everything that could go wrong seems to do just that.
I read a free advance copy; the thoughts expressed are my own.
A regency romp to love and happiness with many obstacles in the way! Lady Imogene and Lord Thaddeus where hit by cupid’s arrow the moment they laid eyes on each other… The only problem, and yes it was a hugh one, standing in their was was her terrible father and the disgusting man he was forcing her to marry! I just wanted to reach through the pages and unman them both!
But love has a way of guiding those who need a helping hand and thus the adventures begin!! Merry Farmer as always, makes the sparks fly and the words almost ignite my kindle before I can get to the end! Another fun addition to those Wicked Wallflowers!!
I just love the chemistry between Thaddeus and Imogen. The lengths that her father and the disgusting Lord Cunningham go through so she marries Cunningham. But Thaddeus has some cards up his sleeve and he and Imogen have to make a last stand that will be settled with a card game with some interesting characters and results. I received a complimentary copy and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Perseverance and faith. Whoa, this story is full of both of those emotions. I did not think Thaddeus would ever catch a break, nevermind Imogen. At first I thought this is a solid four book but the more I read and the more intriguing the situations got (how were they going to get out of situations) the more I was involved in their story. For me, the highlight of the book comes at the very end when they are playing cards on Captain Devereaux’s ship.
