Zeke Daniels isn’t just a douchebag; he’s an asshole. A total and complete jerk, Zeke keeps people at a distance. He has no interest in relationships—most assholes don’t. Dating? Being part of a couple? Nope. Not for him. He’s never given any thought to what he wants in a girlfriend, because he’s never had any intention of having one. Shit, he barely has a relationship with his family, and they’re … has a relationship with his family, and they’re related; his own friends don’t even like him.
So why does he keep thinking about Violet DeLuca?
Sweet, quiet Violet—his opposite in every sense of the word.
The light to his dark, even her damn name sounds like rays of sunshine and happiness and shit.
And that pisses him off, too.

Isn’t this right Ezequiel “. Zeke” Daniels? Book 2 of the How to Date a Douchebag Series was even better than book 1. u2063

There’s nothing better than reading a book were a huge mean, sexy, jock is brought to his knees by love. They never see it coming but ones it hits them there’s no getting up or turning back. u2063

Zeke Daniels was the biggest Douchebag on book 1. He was mean and for the life of him couldn’t find a damn filter for his insensitive mouth. I can’t even believe I’m saying this but after finishing his story I ache for him. I LOVE the big a** douch sooo much. u2063

In The Failing Hours we get the story between Violet DeLuca and Zeke Daniels. They couldn’t be more opposite. It was a mix of sinner and saint, opposite attracts love story. Their start was super rough and not a fairytale at all. u2063

Violet is the sweetest, kindest and most considerate girl. She is a tutor in the college library. She might be a sweetheart but she ain’t no push over. She is a strong and courageous young woman. I love that even after all that life trough her way she came out as one of the strong ones and wont let Zeke behavior belittle her. u2063

Zeke isn’t perfect at all. But I gotta say ones you get to know him, you see that behind all that bad ass attitude and dark brooding exterior, the guy is a softy. He just doesn’t know how to react correctly and obviously doesn’t want anyone to know that he actually cares. Life hasn’t been too great for this big guy. u2063

You will get part in this story that will twist your heart in million pieces. I love everything about this book. The slow and steady journey of this two to the jokes and funny banter. Seen Zeke get all twist and uncomfortable dealing with feelings was endearing and funny. A huge hulky man experience a love most discovered as teenagers. u2063

I did this as a read/ listen combo using the feature on my kindle because I couldn’t put the book down and was a blast. I gotta say I loved Josh Goodman and Muffy Newtown performance in it. They bring all the emotions to life to a point when I felt like choking with how intense some scenes were. u2063

I swear Sara Ney wants everyone to have their very own douchebag! I would happily accept own. My address is…
I love this series. These guys are gruff, rough, and in need of some real love. Zeke is a big ole teddy bear…trust me. Violet is the perky pixie that makes him see the light.
I love the interactions between the friends/douchebags. It makes it so much more fun to watch them make each other squirm.
***5 ‘Beautiful Mess’ Stars***
After listening to The Learning Hours and reading The Studying Hours in that order (Yeah, I did things a bit backwards this time around) I was all about knowing more about Zeke and what made act the way he did around and I was not disappointed! I ended up adoring not only Zeke, but Violet as well. Their journey was filled with all the feels, and then some, that kept me turning the pages and being quite upset when there were no more words to devour.
Zeke is the do$%hi^st around and he doesn’t care one bit about what any thinks or says about it. He is who he is and that’s that. I will admit to wanting to reach out and smack him numerous times throughout the book, but those moments were balanced out with ones that had me wanting to hug him, because there was so much more underneath his armor that showed how even the biggest d$uche could have a golden heart.
Upon first meeting Violet I let out a frustrated groan and prayed that there was more to the girl or it was gonna one of those long and painful reads, but she surprised me, a lot. She isn’t one who just throws herself into things, she is quite cautious, and yet she has a quiet strength about her that simmers beneath the surface and will come out in vibrant force when push comes to shove.
Zeke and Violet’s journey to their HEA was a fun one to experience. On the surface they appear to be absolute opposites, but as they continue to spend more time together and get under each others skins, you find that they have an unlikely common bond that draws them closer. The ups and downs were many, and some of the downs were pretty heavy, but I loved watching as they worked through their issues and became stronger separately as well as a couple in the end.
I really enjoyed The Failing Hours. It was just as well written as the other two in the series and like the other two, I was hooked from the start. But what pushed it up one extra level were Zeke and Violet. They were characters that had a lot depth and I loved watching them evolve as the story progressed. I liked catching up with Oz and James and how they put their two cents in when necessary. Now that I’m all caught up, I’m definitely looking forward to The Coaching Hours and finding out which d*ucheb%g is up on the chopping block!
Oh my goodness I thought How to date a Douchebag – The studying hours was awesome well the Failing Hours exceeded my expectations. Loved it loved it loved it. I wasn’t sure what to expect as we all know that Zeke was a Nasty piece of work and I was a bit shocked how Sara Ney wrote this to make me pretty much fall in love him a quarter the way through.
Zeke was an as*hole we all knew this we just never knew why and thus was such a great story to show us how Zeke ticked. With how he felt and what he went through and best I really loved about this storey was that it wasn’t entirely the girl that showed him how not to be a douchebag.
Violet was the perfect heroine, her past story was touching and it took her having the same sort of back storey to help Zeke, show him he didn’t need to be nasty when she went through something similar and she wasn’t an a** like him.
I loved the inclusion of Kyle and Summer they were such great additions to the story and really brought the story and the main hero and heroine together.
I also loved that Oz and Jameson were a big part of this story aswell it really brought both books together on the best way.
Thank you Sara Ney for giving me the chance to read this early, it was a fantastic read and couldn’t recommend this series any more to people just fantastic.
Loved this book and deserves 10 stars but I can only give it a very high 5
NO SPOILERS!
The Failing Hours was another great standalone sports romance in the How to Date a Douchebag series, and I really enjoyed it! The storyline and characters were wonderful, and I once again loved Sara Ney’s writing style and amazing sense of humor. The Failing Hours was my second novel from this author, my first was The Studying Hours, and I’ll be honest, I loved TSH more than I did TFH, but the latter was still a great read nonetheless.
Zeke and Violet were wonderful, Violet more so than Zeke, and I really enjoyed them and their story. Zeke was a major douchebag (no surprise there!) and it took me a while to warm up to him, but once I did, I actually really liked him. I loved Violet and really felt a connection with her. I liked that she and Zeke were opposites in a lot of ways, but they still complemented each other well and were a good fit together. I liked their personalities and chemistry together, and how their friendship/relationship progressed throughout. There were a few rough patches along the way and some things that I didn’t like as much. It felt like something special was missing that would have made The Failing Hours a five star read for me, but otherwise I really enjoyed Zeke and Violet’s story. I loved reading the book from both Zeke and Violet’s POV, and I enjoyed most of their banter and interactions with each other. It wasn’t always an easy or pleasant journey, but it was still enjoyable and I’m glad that I read it.
The Failing Hours was a sexy, humorous, and entertaining standalone sports romance in the How to Date a Douchebag series, and I would definitely recommend it! Sara Ney did a great job with this book, and even though it hasn’t been my favorite from her so far, I was pleased with the conclusion to Zeke and Violet’s story. I’m definitely looking forward to reading more from this author!
I absolutely LOVED this! Oh my god Zeke totally won me over. Let me tell you, he was not likeable, at all. Nope. A big gigantic insensitive dick, if you will. That man has a huuuge chip on his shoulder, like the size of Texas.
“My friends call me merciless; they claim cold blood runs through my veins, that I’m impossible to get close to.” <---- Uh, yeah you are times 104! Talk about a whole lotta hate fire for everyone in that guys 6 pack. There's a reason why he's like that and just like Elsa sang...."Let it go. Let it goooo." No really dude, let your hang ups goooo. Then there's Violet. That girl needs a medal or something for putting up with his no filter, hating the world ass. She's downright amazing and all she wanted for him to do was A. calm his tits. B. be a better friend to pretty much everyone. And C. be respectful. #dontbeadick! I'm so glad she helped him (kicking and screaming)be a better human being. He's trying really hard. There's a learning curve. "The best part of me is you, Violet." Awww, seriously, awww. Damn right she is! I spent most of the book with all sorts of girly feeling and a big smile on my face. I loved reading every single minute of this book!
OMG! I am completely in love with Zeke. I was very intrigued to start his book since he was a huge jerk in the first book, but there is so much more to him than meets the eye. I totally get why he is the way he is and I loved how Violet drew out all the things Zeke tried to keep hidden. I can’t get enough of these douchebags and Zeke is definitely my favorite.
I loved it when Violet would give Zeke a taste of his own medicine, “Violet, quit ignoring me. It’s effing annoying.” She ignores me, but I know she’s listening. “God****it. You’re not seriously going to make me go alone are you?” Zeke does have some manners, I doubt he recognizes them but they’re there, “I stare down at the money then up into her compassionate hazel eyes. “You are not paying for the tickets. Like I’d ever let you pay for our ****.” The idea is ludicrous.” The generosity of Zeke and his male parts is just overwhelming, “…I don’t know why anyone considers grabbing a dude’s nuts through his jeans sexy.” I blink down at her. “Unless it was you. You can grab them any time you want.” I loved this book, I actually loved this book more than Oz’s book.
My favorite of the series so far! I absolutely loved Zeke! The biggest douchebag with the biggest heart! Violet is perfect for him. She doesn’t take his crap and while subtlety teaching him how to be social and kind. Amazing story that grips you from the beginning and has you hooked until the end. I read and listen and highly recommend this book as well as the audiobook!
This is an incredibly well-written story because Zeke & Violet are so far from being the kind of main characters you would want to follow — everything Zeke says seems to be for the purpose of hurting people. And poor Violet appears to be so self-conscious and insecure that she can barely talk. And yet Sara Ney gives us the time to peel back their protective layers slowly, with those layers sometimes growing back, so that by the end they are amazingly loveable people for whom you want all the happiness.
Both have strong character arcs, but stay true to their original character. Well done.
*5 Stars*
So now that I’ve read this, I’ve finally caught up on all the books in this series. I really love this series and I’m keen to read The Coaching Hours when that comes out next month.
This one, The Failing Hours, is about Zeke and Violet. Oh man. Zeke is the definition of douchebag. He totally lives up to the name. I think the most out of all the douchebags in the series to be honest.
I understand why he is the way he is, but man, he’s just so rude and arrogant, and a total d-bag. But, I guess thats why they’re the Douchebag books right.
I liked Violet and I loved how she eventually stands up and says exactly what she thinks. She has her past and her reasons too, and she’s the total opposite of Zeke. Them getting to know each other was fun, when Zeke wasn’t being a total asshole.
I loved the scenes with Coach and Oz and James, and even Violets roommates. Like with Sara’s other books in this series, they fit well into the storyline and everything moved along smoothly.
I would like to learn more about Elliott and for him to get his own story as well.
All in all another great read, and I look forward to more from this series.
Zeke is not your typical male lead and it’s the reason I really liked this book. I actually read this book twice. He is mean and cold.
And yet he is willing to let this girl who has speech impediment into his life and along with these kids. There is more to Zeke. I really love Sara’s writing in this series because these books will make you laugh so hard but also see the love for the characters have for another. I love this series!
