This was an incredible trilogy, with an amazing finish. I started it towards the end of the week in the evening, kept reading all weekend, and finished the last book in the trilogy Sunday evening. I just had to keep reading. I loved the storyline, where the journey took us, always through Violet, Nate, and Ryn. The path twisted and turned in ways I didn’t anticipate, but I enjoyed every step of it. I saw individuals that struggled with their battles, their pain, but each one had to decide what they would do with it. Who would they become in that moment? Who would eventually emerge when they passed through the fire of the battle before them? The author sends us through a roller coaster of emotions as we watch our characters change. A character who seems to be the picture of disagreeable becomes one we could not do without. Others must become more than they believed to do what is needed in that crucial moment. Still for others, we watch with a different sort of grief as they changed, a sadness for the path taken, wishing we could drag them back to an earlier place on the path. It’s a story of love, of its loss, its pursuit, and reclaiming it again. It’s a story of forgiveness, of taking the shackles of blame off one’s self as well as giving that gift to someone else. Above all it was an enjoyable journey with the cast of characters that Ms. Morgan has so wonderfully introduced us!
The Faerie War is book three and the finale in Rachel Morgan’s Creepy Hollow series. The highly anticipated conclusion to Lord Davian is here. This book continues on from The Faerie Prince and it is recommended that books one and two are read before reading this one.
Creepy Hollow is nothing but destroyed forest land and rubbled homes. The guardians are either brainwashed and working for Davian, dead or on the run. Violet has no memory of who she is, that she is a guardian and what that entails, if she has any family, or who Ryn is. She has a letter in her pocket from someone named Ryn but that’s it. Living with the reptiscillas, in the underground with no memories but surrounded by hatred is not a easy task.
Will Violet get her memories?
Will Ryn come back for V?
Will they be able to defeat Davian?
The answers to these questions will all be revealed and more.
Wow oh wow, what a conclusion. This series as been a great experience I’ll be honest I was very hesitant going into this book after the way book two The Faerie Prince ended with Violet taking the ‘forget’ potion. I understand she was heartbroken and devastated with what had happened but she still had so much to not forget, plus she always seemed like a strong person and taking the potion seemed to be a cowards way. Also she was very quick once again to assume that Ryn didn’t want her, she needs to learn to trust people.
I was so glad I did read it and was not disappointed. Although the ending did seem a little rushed, we have been on this long journey from The Faerie Guardian and The Faerie Prince that this book just seemed to rush through too quick compared to the pace of the previous books.
My heart was so torn and heartache for Ryn when he finally found Violet again. The devastation and lose of her not recognising him *cry. But as the say goes all good things come to those who wait, well I’m this case are patient. Ryn has held a piece of my heart since TFG I knew he was destined to be with V and then in TFP with his swoon moves and romantic notions just sealed it, but in this book I was an absolute goner. The fish bowl scene was just per perfection.
The internal battles that Violet had to go through while trying to figure who she is was hard to read, but when she found out she was the reason for the lose of memory she just could not comprehend it. But with Ryn by her side she was able to rebuild herself and come back stronger.
Well done Rachel, this was a fantastic series and I look forward to spreading more by you, I will be a little said to say goodbye to Ryn and V when I move on to Calla, I understand they will be making appearances but it won’t be the same.
The second book clearly was an in between book, crafting relationships and friendships and moving characters from A to B so we could get ready for the epic finale of Violet’s tale. And as soon as I started this book I already knew that it was truly going to be epic. I started reading and I actually didn’t want to stop anymore before I finished.
Everything we’ve learned and seen, everything that happened, every part of the world we’ve discovered and heard about, every item, every even minor character we’ve interacted with: It all comes together in this last book. The pieces of the puzzle click and I even cried a few tears at the very end, even though I wasn’t that aware that I was so emotionally involved.
I mostly loved how this truly was Violet’s tale. Yes, there was a big war and the big bad was on the brink of destroying the world as we know it, but in the end, it was all because of Violet. She was the one who started this story and we soon figure out that there will probably only be one person who has to play a big part in finishing this story: Violet. I was however glad that we also got some chapters from Ryn’s Point of View, because he clearly saw a different part of the conflict and the world and his information really helped to get a clear image of what was really going on.
However, the most satisfying part was when their storylines came together again. Because somewhere during these three books I’ve started to ship them. And I’m not even a shipper. But somehow their relationship really works and works well. I was so rooting for them and watching them struggle and fight and search for each other again was both painful and amazingly wonderful.
I can’t wait to dive into the next book and read Calla’s story! We didn’t see that much of Calla yet, but I don’t doubt she’ll make an awesome heroine!
Violet has no memory of who she is. The evil Lord Draven has taken over the fae realm and is brainwashing everyone to do his bidding. She will do anything to help her new friends to stay free.
Love the use of amnesia to help Violet grow. And falling in love again with the same guy… Sigh. Ryn really is great.
Awesome worldbuilding. Great battles. So many twists and turns. And the true meaning of the prophecy…!
A great ending to Vi’s story. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
Creative world building and climax to the first two books will have to read if read first two
If you want action, adventure, battles, and love then do read these well written books that take you to a magical world.
A Fun Read! Love this series…
