Kirian and I were just twelve years old when I pulled him from the icy waters of the creek behind my house. As he looked in my direction with unseeing lavender eyes, I quickly realized our age was just about the only thing we had in common. He spoke with an accent, he had pointy ears, and he was so beautiful it made my heart ache. Oh, and he claimed to be a fae prince cursed by witches who stole … stole his sight.
I thought he was crazy from hypothermia. Turns out, he wasn’t, and for some reason he keeps coming back. But a day in my world is a year in his. Every time I see him, he’s older. Wiser. Hotter.
Over the past six years, I’ve tried not to fall in love with him because the terms of the curse are clear: If he doesn’t wait for his fated mate in all ways, including an innocent (or not-so-innocent) kiss, he’ll be blind forever.
So when Kirian kisses me and pulls me through the portal to his realm, I make it my mission to do some damage control. It’d be a whole lot easier if he wasn’t determined to marry me… And if someone wasn’t trying to murder me every step of the way.
The Fae King’s Curse is a full-length novel with no cliffhanger. You don’t have to read the prequel to enjoy this story, as it is about a different couple. But if you want more of this world and to see how Kirian’s parents fell in love, Between Dawn and Dusk is just $0.99 or free with Kindle Unlimited.

REVIEW: 4 STARS
“She’ll be my palace, my fortress, my home.”
This one was a bit of a departure for me. Not only was Jamie Schlosser a new to me author, but it was also a completely different genre than I’ve ever tried. I was dipping my toes rather reluctantly, even though I’ve been wanting to try the fantasy genre (eventually), I was still a little leery. I’m so glad I finally gave in. I got a message from her to try it, so I wanted to check it out before I went all crazy on my page. Well, rest assured – she opened up a can of worms. But, by no means am I an expert on this trope, or what should be written, or how things are done, but I do know that this one book took me on a magical and fantastical ride and I smiled throughout the entire thing!
The attention to detail was pretty neat. The powers, the wings, the magic – it was neat to learn about a whole new world. I was definitely wide eyed because there was a lot to take in – and I like that it was forcing me to pay attention to all the little nuances and how things slid into other meanings. There was a certain nonchalance in her style of writing and there weren’t any tricks up her sleeve. No crazy word usage – just straight forward storytelling. It was a VERY easy read. Very enjoyable.
As I said, I don’t know this trope or genre very well, but this book hit the ground running and we were in immediate action. I started with the prequel, and with that one, the cadence felt a little different – a little stilted. Maybe it was the author – maybe it was the trope, all I knew was it was different. The prequel was a little choppy for me, so I wasn’t too sure how I was going to fare with the full length book, especially if this one already felt off for me. Well, I’m happy to report that by the time I got to the full book, I couldn’t stop reading. I was intrigued. Quite curious. Definitely wondering. Not only was Schlosser painting a vivid world, the story held my attention the entire time I was reading it. For me to feel like I was looking at everything for the first time, experiencing new experiences, with my mind tabulating all the newness of my “surroundings” – I loved that I was completely curious and reading with wonder while I was engrossed in this new world.
So while I felt that the prequel almost felt like some things were an afterthought of an ability and not truly a forethought, as in “we knew it before hand so it came in handy at that time,” The Fae King’s Curse was a whole different ballgame. Huge difference with the full length book, actually. By the time I fell into the fae world, I had adventure flying at me left and right (no pun intended), and wondered soon after how many more books I was going to be getting in this world! I seriously smiled throughout the entire book while reading this one. It was just…fun. It was fun and light, it was easy and entertaining.
But the fact that Schlosser got me so excited about a world I know nothing about, and fairies that I would normally raise an eyebrow at – that tells me something. It was obviously a departure from my normal heavy reads, and maybe this is a good thing, but I loved reading this story. I loved Kirian and how much he ‘felt’ when he was around Quinn. I loved the riddle that I got to solve, yet the curiosity didn’t stop there. I loved the possibility of the magic, the wizardry and the love. It really was entertaining and I cannot wait to go back and visit this world again. And, needless to say, I will be keeping a fresh eye open for more books in this genre because it was amusing. It was entertaining. It was just….neat. I really enjoyed it. I can’t wait for more!
“I often found myself reaching for her when we were together. Not for comfort. Just because I wanted to touch her.”

The author’s meticulous and impeccable artistic talent can clearly be seen through the easiness with which she weaves this unforgettable story into an epic and passionate journey that promises to leave the readers with an insatiable need for more.
So, in all honesty, I confess that this book offers great enjoyment for everyone who wishes to read it, and therefore I highly recommend it to you!
I am such a sucker for childhood sweetheart kind of reads, not to mention a blind hero. I loved this book. It was light, and sweet, and sexy, but still had its serious moments. I loved how possessive the hero was, too. Can’t wait for the next one!
This is book one in the Between Dawn and Dusk series. This book is also part of a boxset which is how I am reading this trilogy.
Kirian and Quinn meet when she pulls him from an icy river when they are kids. Kirian explains that he is from another realm and they forge a friendship that lasts years. They meet for six years, but what is strange is one day in the human world is 1 year in Fae time. So as Quinn stays a child , Kirian grown into man before her eyes. Kirian is blind due to a curse placed upon him as a child and he will remain cursed if he kisses someone other than his fated mate. Quinn falls in love with him but knows that she could never be with Kieran due to his curse.
This was such a fun read and I loved Kirian and Quinns relationship. I found Quinns snarky attitude fun and loved all her quips and barbs that she threw out during the entire book. She was strong and perfect for Kirian. I figured out who the bad guy was pretty early on but still enjoyed the book. I felt there were a few places that could have used some additional information but other than that, the book was perfect. I will be continuing the series and I give this book 4.5 stars. Due to no 1/2 star rating, I have rounded up my review.
This book was my introduction to Jamie Schlosser’s and I am so glad that I found this author. This storyline takes age gap & twists it is such a fun way. Kirian, a prince of the Fae realm, has been cursed to be blind until he finds his fated mate, if he so much as kisses one who is not his fate, he will be blind forever, only breaking the curse when he finds his fated one. Every year on his birthday he uses a portal to travel to the human realm to see his friend, a human. For Quinn she watches her friend grow up quickly before her eyes each day she sees him, since one day in the human realm equals 1 year in the fae.
These two have such chemistry together, loving each other for years until their time is right to be together. The world that has been created is so well done. I love everything about it & I wish I could travel there. Such a great story & I can’t wait to be lost in the next book.
I found Kirian to be amazing. He was beyond romantic, strong and (to me) the perfect leading MC. Some of the things he says to Quinn is so amazingly sweet, I just melted like butter.
However, I found Quinn’s inner thoughts to be quite annoying and juvenile – she was supposed to be an old soul but I found her to be a typical teenager and I know she is only like 18 but I didn’t find her to be as mature as the author was trying to make her to be. I knew Kirian loved her so I tried to love her too. I was surprised I didn’t care that much for Quinn though.
I loved the side characters, the world building and the gnomes especially.
I am interested in the other stories and the witch’s clues leading the kings to their fated mates. So I will continue the series. Though I will admit, I hope they get a little spicier with the love scenes.
This has started a series that I know I will need more of. Kirian and Quinn captivated me from the very beginning and the mystery of the curse had me unable to blink. Their friendship and chemistry was amazing and had me smiling the whole time. The world built here is so much more though and had me wishing it actually existed.
“I can live without my sight, but I cannot live without you.”
Kirian is fae, the king of the Night Realm. He is also cursed, doomed to be blind until he finds his fated mate. However, if he so much as kisses a woman other than his fated mate, then the curse becomes permanent. The only issue is that Kirian is in love with Quinn Prescott, a his human best friend. When Quinn confesses her love for Kirian, he can’t help himself: he kisses her, sealing his fate, and claims her as his queen and chosen mate. However, dark forces are stirring, and someone close to Kirian bears ill will towards his beloved Quinn. Another problem is that Quinn is fighting her attraction towards Kirian, as she believes she has cursed him to be blind forever. Find out what unravels between Kirian and Quinn in “The Fae King’s Curse” by Jamie Schlosser!
Schlosser had me hooked from the very first page. While the concept of the Fae in general, not to mention Fae royalty, has been written many times over, Schlosser manages to set herself apart with this steamy, uniquely enchanting story! I loved that Quinn was not “conventionally” beautiful, her freckles make her a little more human, and it doesn’t make her any less kind and compassionate. And as for Kirian, well… he made me swoon several times over. The fact this his disability didn’t stop him from becoming this amazing warrior king was pretty wonderful to read about. I loved Kirian and Quinn’s story, and I most definitely recommend this book!
I received a free copy of this book from the author, and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is a nice fantasy romance, set in a fae world which exists beside the human world, and has adapted some, but not all of the human ways.
The relationship between the sassy Quinn, who is pure at heart and loyal, and Kirian who is honest and true and lovable is wonderful. A beautifully written fae fantasy with a touch of realism and laugh out loud commentary, if a little predictable. The steamy scenes add a bit of spice and you egg them on.
I’m looking forward to reading the next in the series. Although they are standalone books it’s the same world and characters so Damon is next and he deserves his HEA.
This is fantasy romance with the majority of it set in the fae world it’s the story of Kirian and Quinn and If you’ve read the prequel you’ll know that Kirian was cursed with blindness by the witches in retaliation for the day soldiers actions towards them.
All the firstborn of the various kingdoms were afflicted with this fate and each also has a riddle that has the potential to break there curse.
“She is marked by the sky at night, you’ll know her by love at first sight”
This is Kirian’s riddle for finding his fated mate, there is also a stipulation that if he even kisses anyone other than his true mate his blindness will then become permanent.
So this story is actually quite instalove, usually, that might be an issue for me as I’m not big on that but here as we get to see these two form a bond over time, first meeting as children and then growing closer it didn’t actually bother me as they were friends first and then potential lovers second in fact I liked there dynamic together a whole lot.
Quinn’s life is limited she has no friends and is teased a lot because of her freckles she lives quite an isolated and lonely existence.
Kirian due to his disability is used to proving himself he likes that he can just be himself around Quinn and she treats him no different than anyone else.
So Kirian and Quinn first meet at twelve when she fishes him out of the creek they form an instant friendship and every day Quinn meets up with her new mysterious friend and over time he becomes her whole world.
But a day in Quinn’s world is a whole year in Killian’s so while Quinn is slowly ageing the time is passing much faster for Killian.
Each day she meets up with him he’s a whole year older.
At eighteen Quinn decides that she needs to set him free so he can find his fated she’s in love with him and feels she needs to distance herself by this time Killian is actually over 2000 years old and he knows exactly what he wants Quinn, even if that means staying blind forever.
So he kisses her sealing there fate and spirits her back through the portal to his world.
So this is essentially where our story takes off this one isn’t particularly angsty these two love each other deeply and are not afraid to show that both wearing there hearts on there sleeves.
The drama actually comes in the form of outside forces that will do whatever they must to prevent these two from being together.
Someone wants Quinn dead and Kirian is the only thing standing in there way but he also has no idea where this danger is coming from and just who is threatening his new mate’s life.
There’s plenty going on here that kept me turning the pages I liked both Kirian and Quinn a lot and found their candour and easy friendship incredibly refreshing.
I also thought they worked as a couple and they’re had a lot of chemistry together.
I found the fae world portrayed here ever so interesting and this was also very imaginative but I did guess beforehand who the betrayer might be.
Saying that it didn’t take away from my enjoyment here one bit and I raced through this fairly swiftly.
This was well written and dual POV which is my favourite and I’m looking forward to reading Damon’s story which is up next, he did intrigue me greatly here so I have some high expectations in regards to his story.
I enjoyed this one very much and do recommend it if you like fantasy romance.
I voluntary reviewed a copy of The Fae king’s Curse (Between Dusk and Dawn #1).

Amazing! I’ve volunteered to review this book for United Indie Book Blog. This is my first time reading a book from Jamie Schlosser. The Fae King’s Curse is the first book in the Between Dawn and Dusk series. This series is about fate, destiny, witchcraft, plague, the Fae, and the mythical realms. This is Quinn and Kirian’s story. Quinn is sweet, and charming. Kirian is strong, fierce, and handsome. Kirian and Quinn blew my mind away. This book WILL pull you into just like it did to me. I love the chemistry between them. Will he break the curse and regain his sight? I can’t wait to read more from this author. Keep up the amazing work!
I’d forgotten how much I love a good PNR book until I feel into the world Jamie Schlosser created. I love getting to know the intricacies of a new world – what creatures reside there and the rules they live by – and I had so much fun with this one. I was a little wary when I realized as the book began that the main characters meeting when they were both 12 and the time in Kirian’s world moving so much faster meant that by the time Quinn was 18, Kirian would be around 2,000, but the age gap wasn’t a focal point, just a random fact. Once the story got going the action was quick paced and kept me engaged, waiting to see what would happen next. I loved the little glimpses we got for things that would become important later because when I caught them, I felt like I was a detective putting together the clues along with Kirian and Quinn. I am excited to read the next books in the series and see what adventures Damon and Zander go on.
Kirian and Quinn blew my mind and swept me away into the most amazing fantastical landscape and a romance story for the ages full of drama, intrigue, friendship, trust, honor, loyalty, and most importantly, love.
I adored every single step of this emotional rollercoaster ride of a journey full of twists and turns I didn’t see coming!
Quinn is sweet, charming, and doesn’t know her own worth.
Kirian is strong, fierce, and so gosh darn handsome with his confidence and conviction in everything he does, including choosing Quinn for better or for worse.
The imagery is intricately woven into a beautiful tapestry, and I cannot wait for the next book in the series!
Kirian is the Prince of the Night Realm. When this story starts, he is just 12 years old. He is living with a curse that he received 1 year prior. Quinn is a twelve-year-old human girl who pulls the prince from a cold, rushing creek on Earth. Their story is written in first person from a dual POV.
I adored this story! It is one of my favorite reads of the year. The characters are well-developed. The plot is gripping. The description of the two worlds is detailed and complete. The heat level is high. There is humor, banter, suspense, action, and romance. The pace is perfect, and I honestly could not put this book down. The lost sleep was worth it!
The development of Kirian and Quinn’s friendship melted my heart. I loved their unconditional acceptance of each other regardless of what the world might view as flaws. I love that they spend time doing things like reading together, working on homework, and playing games. I love that Quinn helps Kirian explore her world. There is humor as they call each other out, tenderness when he comforts her on the bad days, and romance as they dance under the stars by light of fireflies to the music of crickets. They get to know each other completely and rely on each other to be there.
When they enter the Night Realm, they face danger and the possibility that Kirian’s curse is permanent. I loved the action and suspense. The world is described magnificently. I love the protective attitude Kirian displays toward Quinn. Her compassion for him, and the inhabitants of his kingdom is compelling.
There are trolls, witches, gnomes, griffins and more in this fantastical world. The prequel to the series offers a historical background for the realms. There are underlying political issues between the realms and the new generation of cursed kings are determined to solve them and bring peace. The underlying political story of the realms and the fate of the other two kings will be concluded in additional books. However, this book does deliver the HEA for Quinn and Kirian and can be read as a standalone.
Loved Loved Loved The Fae King’s Curse. If you are looking for a great PNR Friends-To-Lover book then you need to 1-click this real quick. This book will give you all the feels. I can’t tell you how many times I laughed out loud with the banter between Kirian and Quinn or swooned because these two had amazingly hot chemistry. I can’t wait now for the next book in the series.
Beautiful Fae Love Story!
This story was absolutely charming and funny. It was also filled with lots of thrills and suspense keeping you captivated and highly entertained right from the very beginning, straight to its amazing and fulfilling ending. I was taken on a journey into worlds unknown and into one epic fantasy that I never wanted to return from.
The world building is vividly written with amazing imagery and the characters are very lovable and relatable. Quinn and Kirian’s story was beautiful and filled with all kinds of new wonders and new love. These two had me completely captivated with their growing love for one another, their ability to see past differences and to love unconditionally. It is one amazing love story.
I absolutely loved this beautifully written and very enchanting story.
I loved all of this story. What an adventure Kirian and Quinn’s love story was. With awe and treachery this is a sweeping tale of love, vengeance and generosity. From the moment Quinn met Kirian she fell in love. The devotion that Kirian showed to Quinn was so swoon worthy. I enjoyed that Quinn brought a different perspective to the Night Realm. The description of the towns and most of the people of the realm were delightful (and I really want to meet a gnome now). This story is not without heartache and there are still two kings who need to find their mates to break their own curses. I am excited for Damon’s book and hopefully getting more Astrid in the future.
What an entertaining tale. The Fae King’s Curse was an engrossing, captivating fantasy romance that I could not stop reading. From start to finish this novel had me hooked, anxiously turning the pages, as we are taken on an epic journey with Kirian and Quinn. This was on of the best fated mates stories I’ve ever read. The main characters Kirian and Quinn were perfect together and I loved reading their story. They were supported by a cast of fascinating characters who provided them with great balance and even brought a touch of hilarity to this novel. Yes it was romantic, but there was so much more than romance in this tale, we got curses, treason, family drama, mystery, action, steam and more. The author did a phenomenal job with world building. She painted a detailed, beautiful yet treacherous picture of this world, and it was as if you were transported there.
This well written page turner was a phenomenal read and I can’t wait for the next book in the series. I would highly recommend it to all lover of fantasy romance.
“Why?” I demand, panting. “Why would you do that?”
Gripping my shoulders, he leans down until we’re nose to nose. “Because I can live without my sight, but I cannot live without you.”
“You,” she whispers the answer. “You know I’ll always choose you.”

Things are much more dangerous there than on earth so the couple has to navigate these perils while dealing with some discrimination due to her humanity.
Such a great story. Such a great world. Such a great couple. Read this book!
Wow! I’ve read ALOT of fantasy romance novels but this one is special! I was hanging off of each word and was so immersed in the story that I couldn’t put this one down. The depth that she built with each character allowed me to emotionally connect with them and their actions. I loved it so much and highly recommend this series to all fantasy romance addicts out there. I can’t wait for the next one in the series!!
