I loved it! These books just keep getting better and better. I can’t wait to see what happens next. I really love all the characters and the more they develop the better they are. They’re already awesome.

I absolutely love this series it’s completely binge worth. I highly recommend it and Kat is the perfect reluctant hero. She is brave, determined and never gives up even when she thinks she won’t survive the battles to come.
I love that Kat has endless faith and determination to help her friends even when they seem unredeamable. Kat never gives up on them she fosters the good and forgives the bad never feeling they have gone past the point of no return.
Kat faces death many times throughout the series but never questions if what she battles is worth dying for. Kat is always at peace with feeling it may be her last fight. However, against all odds Kat pulls through in the end.
This installment is captivating because the enemy is not so easily overcome. A magical disease is ravaging the Fae and even some of the Crusaders have Falken ill. The Fae are being blamed but Kat knows the Fae are not responsible. Kat fights to save them by finding the cause of the Fae Flu to help those sick and dying from the magical unknown, yet powerful disease.
The Fae Hunt is a remarkable addition to the Katverse. I am in awe of the amazing writing that has created such a rich world. This series never ceases to stay fresh, exciting, and as always a fantastic read!

Kat is becoming unstoppable.
A mysterious illness has invaded Hope City putting its victims into a coma. When Kat’s friends are affected, she is determined to find the cause forcing her into detective mode instead of her normal monster hunter mode. As the number of infections increase, the fae have been incorrectly identified as the cause and are being rounded up. When her fae, Duer, is rounded up, it gives her even more motivation to find the cause. At the end, Kat uncovers that cause of the illness and goes to battle against it as more of her friends succumb.

So, I’ve said it before, but this is my favorite book in the series so far. As noted at the end, not such a dark ending as some of the previous books, which I like. While bonds are growing stronger amongst Kat’s core group, Kat’s supporters are also growing, almost like she’s unintentionally building an army of sorts. She’s also getting some more favorable recognition and making connections that could help strengthen and stabilize her and her city / people. We’re coming to understand more about how Kat is developing, both as a person and in her “powers”, but at it’s base, this is still a story about Kat caring, not just about those close to her, but less advantaged people(s) in general and those that are willing to support them. Kat is willing to sacrifice everything to save others and repeatedly shows why she is a champion / hero. The next book can’t get here soon enough..!

In this book, there is a magical disease that has taken hold of the city – even some of the Crusaders! The Fae are being blamed for it and Kat knows that this is not true. She must fight to save all the fae including Duer! And this another case where the monster isn’t always obvious. She must find the cause of the Fae Flu and save all the Fae from being round up, including Duer and his kinth. There were several parts of the book I almost had to put it down because I was getting emotional! (Of course I couldn’t put it down and kept reading though.) I am excited to keep reading what Kat has in store next!

Fighting monsters is easy, you find their weakness and strike. With the Crusaders at her back, there isn’t a monster Kat can’t take on. Sometimes she even finds straightforward monster hunting to be relaxing. Unfortunately, the conflicts she finds herself in recently are rarely that straightforward and clean cut. This time the greatest enemy is fear and prejudice lashing out at a convenient scapegoat rather than seeking the true cause of their misery.
Always the underdog, never the victim. Content to remain in the shadows, yet dragged into the limelight. Fiercely independent, yet a deeply loving and loyal friend. Kat and her friends have gone through a lot and in this book they are stretched and tested in new ways as they continue to grow and learn more about just what their world has become, and who they have become. I was really worried about the path this book was taking and was prepared to be upset with the author about the ending but Kat keeps her promises and yeah, there were some good twists.
This is book 9 in the Kat Drummond series. Read them all and in order. I recommend starting with the book set because this is a series that pulls you in and doesn’t let you go. Writing that hits deep in the psyche.

It’s hard to believe, but this series just gets better and better. Kat Drummond finds herself (and her team) right in the middle of the latest catastrophe. People are falling ill to a plague. They suddenly start to cough, vomit and them go straight into a coma. It was bad enough, but when two of Kat’s friends are affected, it becomes personal. The powers that be blame the fae and start rounding them up. When they find and take Duer, Kat’s pixie, that is the last straw for her. She will do anything to fix this. She will find who ever is responsible – government, private enterprise, fae or even a god – and they will pay.

“Forgiveness is how the Vessel grew. We didn’t become stronger through hate, but through growing our bonds to one another.”
A spell binding premise, a rollercoaster ride! It has characters you can get behind, extraordinary circumstances, as well as twists and turns sure to keep you turning pages. Many twists and wonderful chuckles. Old friends, new friends, and a new deadly enemy. Kat must match wits with an opponent with almost unlimited resources. This is a world one could happily spend a lot of time exploring, and I hope the author does–I would absolutely read whatever he publishes next. Nicholas Woode-Smith is very good at describing action to where I felt like I was in the middle of the fight. A fine, durable volume brimming with imagination and sparkling, inventive characters. I think I’ve run out of adjectives to portrait my feelings towards this series! Just WHAT do you say to convey the breathless pace, the suspense and the never ending tension that begins in the very first sentence and never lets go, even at the very end? Only to say I highly recommend this series and looking forward to reading Dark Order #10!
