Review:
Emma Hamm has done it again! I’m in love with this book and it is my favorite story yet! Oh yeah, and lets not forget another breathtaking cover
I am so digging the darker atmosphere and digging deeper into the Unseelie (my favorite) realm and the Sluagh were brought into this story too! Needless to say the world building was beautiful as always and painted a clear picture of the world on every page.
I freaking LOVE Aisling! She just felt so real to me…she was fierce, brave, headstrong, and sassy…yet she had hidden insecurities that just made her more relate-able. Then there is Bran and how can you not love him as well! He’s just as sassy and fierce as Aisling! They are my favorite couple so far *Swoony eyes*. Lorcan was another great character and I really hope to learn more about him in the future. Even the side characters were awesome, good and bad alike.
I just really cannot put into words how much my whimsical dark little heart loved this tale!! If you haven’t read any of the Otherworld books yet then you seriously need to start. Especially if you love Fairy Tale re-tellings, Romance, and Celtic Folklore about the Fae.
I give The Faceless Woman 5 Stars and place on my Favorite books shelf!
Emma comes through will yet another wonderful story set in the Otherworld. I absolutely LOVED the characters and their development together. They go on an action-packed adventure through the Otherworld and her descriptions of each place are lush and detailed. I couldn’t put this book down once I started. It can be read by itself, but is more fun if you’ve read the other 3 in the series. If you are looking or a unique and wonderful fairytale retelling, this is for you!
I received an e-ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review. Review can be found on *Milky Way of Books*
Following closely Emma’s writing has been a delight in the past months. Having discovered her books accidentally, after scouting Goodreads for a good “Beauty and the Beast” retelling, I fell in love with her pose and writing style, not to mention the seamless way, she weaves Celtic mythology with classic fairy tales!
Her upcoming book, part of the Otherworld series, features the Swan Princess as it blends with the Celtic mythology. While the books can be read as stand-alones, I truly recommend you to read them from the beginning. The stories interconnect with each other and very smartly the author laces clues for the next books in the series within the existing novels.
Aisling is a witch who has a curse on her; no Fae can see her face and she has magic within her that could make her coveted in the Otherworld or hunted in the human one. Bran is the Unseelie Prince who searches for a cure. Yet, when accidentally Aisling curses him, binding them together, they will form a tentative alliance, in order to search for the solution to the binding curse.
Their trip will be an adventure, a mystery, laced with dreams, creatures both beautiful and scary, sleeping old gods and tragedy. And a slow-burning romance, which I really want to have more of it. You can see the outline of the Swan Princess here, yet Emma Hamm succeeds in creating a unique blend of magic and monstrous beauty which encaptures the reader, begging for more.
At least, I want more! Because the ending could be this! And while some parts left me questioning the whys I am positive that Emma will give this pair a wonderful ending. Don’t miss this one; the cover is stunning, there are clues everywhere and this hidden gem deserves more attention!
An incredible sweeping tale full of magic and mysteries. You’ve never read a Swan Princess retelling like this! The ending was rather bittersweet, but it’s the first in a series — one I am eager to continue.
